As someone who long ago in Factorio's development played a deathworld game on minimum starting area (I had to reroll a bunch of times to find a start which wasn't instant death), I appreciated this playthrough.

I watched this bit by bit over the course of a week. I was always on the fence about getting factorio because I need a reason to build, I had no idea you could customize the enemies to attack you so much and all that. You sir convinced me to buy Factorio and I already have almost 30 hours in, played two days straight no sleep, started on a death world with my friend who wanted to try it too. We had to restart 2 times because we got out-teched by the biters evolving before we could even get red ammo lol. First world we got slaughtered pretty early on. Third world we stopped because I made the biters too easy from lowering their evolution down too much and giving us too big of a starting area. We are now on our fourth world, got an awesome spawn where we are on a island in the middle of the normal map with only one land bridge to us. There are a few nests and we wiped one out using the chaingun vehicle mod, my friends chaingun got destroyed but we still barely managed to wipe out the nest (maxed size and amount of enemies). We now have to wipe out the other 3 in the north. It's great fun, thank you for making this video.

This video was awesome, but as a death world veteran he did not use the meta strategies. Which is what made the video so captivating and fun to watch for me. I personally would've tried to turret rush most of the biters off the island before spiters even existed. Turret rushing is placing a line of turrets in front of you as your rush up to a base, then you place a wide line of decoy turrets at the front to tank worm fire and a line behind to kill the base. Decoy turrets in the front because if a turret dies with ammo in it you lose the ammo. The strategy only requires iron, and if it comes to it it makes use of the yellow ammo for defense, and the red ammo for attack efficiencies. Two~ or three lines of turrets on yellow ammo to defend, turret rush with red ammo to wipe out bases. Late game use a tank and Power armor with laser guns + a power substation laser turret rush. and batteries to wipe out massive areas, or nukes. Pick your poison. I don't have any experience with Spidertrons or artillery because they feel so lategame you've already won by the time you deploy them. Once you play on a deathworld desert with medium-small starting and no lakes, ponds or rivers, to help give you a smaller attack surface area you are a true god of deathworld factorio. However, the gods of PVS player vs self factorio are to be honest the coolest, the ones who make self expanding factories or 1000 rocket per hour factories. Factorio is just awesome as it gets. Factorio isn't a toxic community of being better than someone else its a community of learning and improving yourself. I did a desert deathworld with rivers for choke points and boy it was something else. But now I have a 2 thick highly upgraded lazer turret line with 3 thick stone walls all around the base with chokepoints at rivers. Access to realtively infinite resources and space. Solar power etc. Reached 100% evolution a long time ago. I hope one day I will work up to a desert deathworld without rivers for shortwalling. God the game is so fucking great, just forget about other people when you play it! Just play it, it makes you feel like a child again, confused learning and having fun. No wonder it's such a highly rated game. I fucking loved this video though. Not everyone thinks the same way, and he obviously wasn't try harding he was showing us biter time lapses and made it tense with the evolution climbing ever higher. My story would've ended in 30 minutes the rest a peaceful factorio run on that island his lasted 3 hours and it was awesome. Edit all that said I probably wouldve hit medium biters quickly destroying all those nests, but claiming a large swath of land and expanding quickly is the name of deathworld he showed it was 90% time evolution. Destroying nests is a lot of evolution too.
I just came across Factorio yesterday, and this is a beautiful introduction -- and the video is beautifully made, too! Thanks for the entertainment, and a follow definitely earned :)

No early wipeout was part of the challenge
i had no idea fish basically made you invincible in this way! The way you could single handedly take down 10 nests with starter gear was incredible
I literally never watched anything this long on yt cuz I quickly get bored, but not here, amazing video
I'd just immediately die and be done with this playthrough. Subscribed instantly.
I just came across Factorio yesterday, and this is a beautiful introduction -- and the video is beautifully made, too! Thanks for the entertainment, and a follow definitely earned :)
I had a fun time on my death world playthrough. I nearly ran out of my iron patches by the time I got efficiency modules, but they were well worth it.
this deserves more credit for the 3 and a half hours of editing, with hours and hours of footage
Holy shit... did you really montage 3,5 hours of footage
That's some true dedication right here
I salute to you Sir
The montage is 3.5 hours there's a lot more footage
Had never heard of this channel and I was enjoying the full 3.5h. You've gained a sub. Ty for the great vid
2:28:18 The turrets go wild with applause at the arrival of Ben the Fish!
"Hey, want a free sample?"
"Oh hey man, yeah cool, what's the sample of?"
"DEATH!"
"I HAVE BEEN HOODWINKED."
Just spent a 3 hours on that masterpiece, no regrets
Wonderfully put together. Masterful work yet again.
I have no clue how I stumbled upon this channel but I am so interested and can’t stop watching this video. It’s crazy Bc he doesn’t have to talk to captivate me and make me wanna stay and watch.
Great video, really enjoying it
I swear those flamethrowers are trying to write you a message.
I rarely watch such long videos... but this... this was worth my afternoon. Amazing job dude! This movie was really good! :)
For the first time on RUclips I watched such a long video without rewinding. Survival on the island is cool)
Ben the Fish then went on to create his own 3 hour long atmospheric fully edited playthrough on his efforts to launch a rocket (loaded with nuclear explosives) back towards home
SO well made
watched the whole thing in one go
Hey Mike, just want to say I love your demented sense of humor, and I appreciate the effort you go through to try and consistently make the playthrough entertaining. It would have been easier to be factual and straightforward, but you did a bunch of editing and everything. Great work
finally finished the video, after 3 weeks of watching parts on and off i finished it and let me just say great video it has made me really try to get my friend into it too now
Meanwhile, on the biter side of the front, Field Marshal Bouglas Haig was heavily criticized for not coming up with anything better than massed frontal attacks.
I have never tried, or even seen turret creep using flamethrower turrets - that looked awesome!!
i had aready see the seris before this montage : you did an incredible job !
Ok so i just watched this entire video in one go, without any major breaks (mostly toilet/food), and now i will:
- Subscribe
- Ring the bell
- Like the video
- Start playing factorio (again bc lost interest a few years ago)
- Recommend this channel to all my friends (yes all 3)
and recommend you do the same.
You my guy put so much effort into your videos, you deserve MUCH and MUCH MORE than what you have!
(review written with my limited english knowledge :) )
18,5 hours gametime, boiled down to 3,5 hours... With some very funny texts :D
Was actually a good view. I enjoyed that pot of coffee meanwhile.
I normally hate vids with no vocal narration but this still captivated me
Well, clicked on this video randomly, thought i'd watch only 10 mins of it then continue later, then watched 1 hour thinking i'd split it into 3 parts, then I was like eh... what the hell, and I watched through all of it in one sitting... Amazing editing and journey!
That was great. Loved watching this. The music you used was great and loved the time you took to edit. The tree as well as the fish were nice moments in this atmospheric and energetic gameplay experience you had here.
Thank you so much for the comprehensive explanations of turret damage and defensive strategies!!
Thank you for the remastered of my favorite Series ;)
But seriously I really like your video so i hope you will continue. And bonjour from France.
i'm so glad this dude is finally getting the views he deserves
Man I love this channel so much, keep uploading :)
Cant believe i watched this whole thing in one go, epic video
I got off factorio earlier and had been playing for a few hours and now I’m watching this thinking man I need to hop back on, cracktorio is dangerous
Very underrated channel, your editing is enjoyable and your content is clean, keep up the great work :D
I was suggested this video last night, and nearly chose to fall asleep to it. Instead I turned it off so I'd watch it today, absolutely worth it.
"Playtime (this save): 18h 43m"
Meanwhile my first playthrough on a super easy world took over 32h...
120h before I launched my first rocket...
i mean, if you dont hurry the f up on deathworld, you die very soon
50hrs in on my first playthrough, finished my first yellow science factory for 1/second, now I just have to start produce purple science and upgrade blue and grey science. No where close to a rocket. But Artillery is fun tho.
This video is just a masterpiece.
This is really chill actually
Like a stream, with real-time subtitles
Watched whole 3h. Nice vid bro!
