I used to love playing this game in the arcades... too bad this one never made it state side. I know the game was horribly scaled down, but I would have loved to have a home version of this.
There's been bad blood between Konami and Capcom for decades. See, Yoshiki Okamoto created two of Konami's most successful games from the early 1980s, Gyruss and Time Pilot. Konami showed its appreciation for his hard work by firing him when he asked for a raise. Shortly afterward, he joined the fledgling game developer Capcom and quickly turned the company into a hitmaker. Okamoto is no longer with Capcom now, but old wounds run deep, and I doubt the two companies would ever join forces.
The one Konami PCE game that has a completely different sounding Konami logo jingle than the other releases. Tokimeki Memorial is the only one that has someone say Konami after the jingle, one of the girls from the game.
@RocMegamanX I'd love nothing more than to see a crossover of that magnitude in the world of gaming: 2 of the oldest, most respected v-game companies going for broke. the sad thing is...it won't happen! neither of them get along with one another; and that's putting it mildly!
Oh, this game. Such a tragedy, when you consider the quality of other fighting games on the Turbo Duo (and even the unexpanded Turbografx!). You get dinky, poorly animated characters and dull backgrounds, along with all the issues the original arcade game had. Hard to believe Konami gave us this schlock after Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.
There was a similar situation also happening in 1993 for the Mega Drive: Konami releasing the subpar Mega Drive version of TMNT Tournament Fighters (whose only quality aspect is its brilliant soundtrack by Miki Higashino, superior to the SNES version soundtrack) after having released the masterpiece that is Rocket Knight Adventures.
Around the same timeframe, Konami released TMNT Tournament Fighters for both the SNES and the Mega Drive. I guess they did this because the Turtles games would market better for both systems in Japan and especially outside Japan (this is especially true in the case of the Mega Drive), while in the case of the PC Engine CD since it was going to be released in Japan only, they opted to convert Martial Champion instead. That's the only logical explanation I can find.
@RocMegamanX I don't think you read my reply correctly. it would be an excellent crossover, maybe the best in the world of videogames and electronic entertainment in general! the thing is, Capcom and Konami do not like each other.( go to Wikipedia for the reasons cause they're too many to put here.) if that wasn't the case, it woulda been sweet to see Alucard vs. Morrigan, Solid Snake vs. Strider Hiryu, RocketKnight Sparkster vs. MegaMan, etc. THAT'd be something I'd pay serious money for!
Why does every fighting game need to have a japanese Noh actor with long red hair, white and red face paint, with a fan as a weapon? This game, the Samurai Showdown series, Power Moves, numerous others...
Seems to me Konami did that to themselves by firing him in the first place. The soon Konami stops being butthurt, the better. I highly doubt MUGEN would fill the void.
@@Kerannnng , also, a jiang shi, which is what Chaos/NTSB-U Titi, is supposed to be, is not just a Chinese vampire, but that it is actually a zombie with vampire-like qualities in addition to the typical zombie-like qualities.

@triplestar100 Wikipedia didn't tell me jack about why the two companies apparently "hate" each other. I CTRL+F'd Konami on Capcom's wiki and Capcom on Konami's wiki. Hardly anything shows up. So...what now exactly?
@Keith Courage RX-78-2 Yeah I know pal, I'm a pc engine collector with over 30 consoles, nearly 20 with manual, box and console matching serials! Even got a boxed pc engine shuttle console and pc engine printer add on! My favorite console of all time, got my first one imported into UK in 1988! Those were the days! I'm pretty handy with its architecture also, not much I can't repair on a pce, been working on them over 30 years! As far as Neo Geo, obviously I'm fully aware as I own them all! Wasnt many games released for the Arcade card, interestingly there a fair few that are enhanced but still work on super cd-rom v3.
This looks terrible indeed, the worst part being all backgrounds are still pictures more likely due to technical limitations. But dunno, maybe the gameplay is any good?
Seems that all the budget went for the music...

Violence makes warring parties either suddenly agreeable, or it eliminates them, and it never fails.
holy shit ive been looking for the name of this game forever
my 12-year old self thanks you so much
You actually used to own a PC-Engine CD console and this game when you were 12 back in the day?! Damn!

some characters look like chin and heidern from kof. nice gameplay by the way :D
That character select screen looks AWFULLY familiar!

@jesserobles that's how most PC engine games are great music, but usually always lacking something in the graphic department.
@triplestar100 How bad is this supposed "fight"? Seriously, if Namco X Capcom could happen, why not THIS?

I hope that, if they make a Konami X Capcom, they include a couple of these characters.
Agreed! Jin, Racheal, Coldor, and Titi could be good picks.
I used to really like Racheal. For obvious reasons.

I am just have old version. where to download dingdong version?
Well, this awfull convervion from the arcade original looks like an SNES or Genesis game! And the sounds looks just like Sega's 16 bit console, LOL!
This is on a system that came out in 88 and is technically 8 bit! So what's your point?

The pc engine was definitely capable of making animated backgrounds along with the rest of the games animations. This was just a lazy port.
Pretty piss-poor port of the original arcade game. I think even the gameboy advance could do better than this...
Probably..... it's a 32 bit machine compared to this which is an 8 bit machine, dumb nuts.
