- Erika Ferrando follows an AC technician to find out what you can do to keep your house cooler.
Among his tips were some things you may know and others you may not.
- Change the filter monthly
- Removed and clean air filter in AC window units
- Wash off your outside unit, but only when it isn't running
- Keep the thermostat between 76-78. It's likely not going to get any cooler anyway
The tech said that if it's 100 degrees outside and your AC says 80, even if you have it set to 72, "It's working. It just wasn't made for this kind of heat."
78? I'm keeping it at 72-75.
My hvac technician recommended 75 but I nudged it down to 74! Life on the wild side baby(sarcasm)😂😂
75 is pretty average for AC. I like it low 70s or 60s tho.
I measured my west-facing bedroom window and went to Lowe’s/Home Depot to buy cheap, custom-cut wood panels and placed them in the sills, behind the blacked-out curtains.
It’s completely blacked out, because around 1pm it turns into Crematoria(chronicles of riddick)!
I prefer to keep my AC at 74-75 degrees because even if it won't reach that temperature during a heatwave, it will do so at night and I will be at peace and comfort once it reaches that temperature at night.
As she stands there reporting in winter clothing---High neck and long sleeves 🥵
For me in New Jersey we are having a heatwave above 90 degrees and I live in a apartment complex but I don’t have a Central AC or heat I have only one window unit in the living room but the 2 rooms don’t have AC but we have our own personal Fan too use. But if I get my own house 🏠 I’ll definitely make sure I have my own Central AC and heat. During summer months on especially on heatwave temperatures I’ll keep it at 75 degrees on a upper 90s degree day but when the heat wave is over I’ll set it to 73-77 degree normal temperature range for me
I keep mine at 78 but today it’s reading 80. I was just getting ready to call a tech to hv to checked. After seeing this video I will wait to see how it goes in a day or two.
78???? U out yo mind
😹
It's just temporary
78 is a good temperature!! You can still stay cool and save money, 80 is to hot! 78 is the sweet spot!!
I like to stay cool and comfortable when it’s hot.

How about sleep mode?
You want it cooler? Step one, move to Alaska!
I'm seriously considering it!!!! I live in Louisiana and not ONLY is it so freaking hot 🔥 the humidity is out of this 🌎 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
80 degre F is 26 C hahaha thats we set in our AC to cool down we are having 40C right now in Pakistan
Am I the only one that sets it to 69 and it stays at 69? Currently its 94 outside but the inside of my house is maintaining 69 with no issues.
It does that for me when I'm in an apartment, but I'm at my mom's house ATM and it's always 80 plus during the day in the summer... And the solution he gave is, welp, there's nothing you can do... I mean really? Are we supposed to just cook in the house during the summer??? There has to be some sort of tech that lowers the temperature. It's a 100 degrees out RN and this is insane. Feels like I'm still in hurricane Beryl.
Of course its 69. Is that your favorite position also?
Please take a shower you will stay fresh and stop destroying your AC. Poor machine thing probably exhausted.
I keep my ac set on 80 and it keeps the house cool
80 is to hot!! 78 is more like it for me.
@@TheMcGuireLife 78 is TOO HOT ! 72 works just great!
Lol 80? You must get cold fast
