I have followed EVs since GM announced their AUTOnomy Hy-wire hydrogen car in 2002 at the Paris auto show. Other than the awful haptic controls for changing the driving mode (Sports/Standard/Eco) and ePedal status, the thing is stunning and huge. You have to see it in person up close. It is going to be very hard to choose which EV to buy from a design and feature angle. Tomorrow we try an IONIQ 5, but I think the Ariya is going to win due to the high ride height that makes getting in and out less of a strain on the back, stunning looks and the general Nissan build quality. In 3-4 they’ll be 25% cheaper? Do you even follow the market anyhow? How the businesses are doing and dealing with the supply shortages? Those are 25% more expensive than half a year ago. I had a 2012 LEAF which I traded for a 2022 LEAF. Recently I was able to sit in an Ariya which was in the dealer showroom while my LEAF was getting its state inspection. They let me turn it on and its controls looked in some ways like the LEAF, but there were also some new features. While I'll not be in the market for a new car for a while, I was certainly impressed by the Ariya. I'll recommend it to my sister and brother-in-law, who will probably be buying a new car in the next couple of years. And Nissan will be my go-to brand for another EV when I'm ready.
Question: just like with phones that only receive updates for so long, how long will Nissan promise updates to their vehicles? Besides powertrain, parts and service warranties car companies now need to supply firmware warranties. Better yet, design their cars with upgradeable computer control modules, or start taking advantage of the phone's processor.
I LOVE this. I’ve been waiting for this SUV. This is quickly going to become a top EV. Only thing is I’m pretty sure this doesn’t qualify for federal EV tax credits.
Lyn mentions that it does not toward the end of the video. Nissan is working to rectify that situation given the federal government's newest requirements for vehicles to qualify.

In these days of so called premium brands seemingly cutting costs by using cheaper materials etc, Nissan appear to be upping their game, this interior is stunning.
I understand that the sloped rear of the vehicle is for aerodynamics but I'd rather give up a small percentage of economy/distance tor an SUV with a more squared off back that can carry more. There are devices/designs that can improve wind flow where you can still increase cargo size.
I’m sure it’s very nice. I’m still waiting for an EV hot hatch type of car… something small and fun that doesn’t look so weird. The Model 3 is enormous to me as a GTI driver. HUD, blind spot, self parking, physical buttons, digital rear view mirror, android auto (I can't do without this. Hated in the tesla having to look an address up on my phone only to have to put it in the tesla map thing 🙄). Etc.
Does the Ariya offer ventilated front seats?
No ventilated seats on any model available for the time being.
Cooled seats on platinum model in US.
Didn't the quest have that moving console? Kinda cool to see that again
This might just move us away from our Honda CR-V loyalty. The lack of fed tax credits though is a real concern since I can see this brushing up to $60k all-in.
This is a concerning thing to be sure. Hopefully Nissan can get logistics figured out quickly.
“Peacock Booty”. I don’t know why I enjoyed Lyn saying that so much 🤷🏾♂️😌
It kinda looks like that!
Actually love the interior and exterior!
Great and beautiful car! 👍👍👍
It looks great. No more CVT.
That car looks fantastic. Almost 400 hp too wow
Honestly this Nissan EV is perfect
Nice, "Nissan Ariya," this girl has knowledge about cars! that's right she works for KBB! good job! point out the detail.
Very nice! Does the Ariya have a frunk? If I was to buy an EV, the new Ariya looks like the one I would buy. Unfortunately, I am no longer in the market for a vehicle, as I use public transit for economic reasons 😢Lyn, you did an awesome job! I am a subscriber of Micah's channel, but after watching this video, I have now also subbed to the KBB channel as well. As Micah says, here's your high five 😄🤚
Forget the MX-30. It's just a compliance car.
Checks that box for Mazda. 😂
Hence the thesis of the video that this car from Nissan feels like more than that. Thanks for the comment!
Bravo Nissan! Looks even better than the Lexus RZ that is based on the Toyota BZ4x!
I’m sure it’s very nice. I’m still waiting for an EV hot hatch type of car… something small and fun that doesn’t look so weird. The Model 3 is enormous to me as a GTI driver. The Kona is great but I don’t like the looks or particularly the interior. Once someone delivers something fun-ish and actually small for ~40k with 250 miles of range, I’ll be chomping at the bit to buy it.
Check out the chevy bolt
@@ciello___8307Great suggestion, but the problem with the bolt (aside from the fact that it’s made by GM, which I personally dislike) is that it’s a bit of a penalty box (nicer in the new one but still not there, I think…) and it’s dreadful to look at. The bones are there, though.
Am a bolt owner (2017) range is great, interior is really lacking. New bolt premiers in the smaller non euv seems like the ideal econo electric car, fixed interior, better exterior, same 260 mile range
@@wilmotown the refreshed ones are genuinely pretty nice. For mid $20k you cant complain
lexus rz450e about 55k and worth it
Nissan is back!!
Nissan Ariya, it's a perfect car.
So this uses CCS and they’ve ditched ChaDeMo right?
Yes…
This is my next car. I can’t wait for US deliveries to begin.
Excellent video!😸
Why would a driver care for a volume knob on the dash when they have one on the steering wheel
Some folks like to use both and it's handy for a passenger to use as well. We just enjoy options!
@@kbb I can understand the passenger but the touch screen can just have a volume controller near them on the screen and it can be updated OTA so it can be user friendly. Why a driver would want one on the dash boggles me since the idea is for convenience when the steering wheel is literally the most convenient and efficient spot for the driver.
Is this the one recalled for the wheels falling off?
No that's the Toyota bZ4X.
Not yet, it hasn't hit the market yet. Only time will tell.
Nice looking car. I hope it sells well for Nissan. The Natchez Trace Parkway is very close to my home.
Shout out to Franklin, TN! I live a couple of miles from Nissan NA.
Hey well at least Im subscribed! 🤣 Love this new car EV from Nissan!
I don't get it. My mom's 2022 VW Tiguan has both wireless android auto and apple car play, why can't a brand new Nissan have both??
I really love this car and was thinking of getting one. But unfortunately, it does not qualify for the federal tax credit starting in 2023. What a bumper.
No mention of the DC Fast Charging standard Nissan wisely switch to.
If you head to 14:49 in the video, Lyn talks about the Ariya's Fast Charging capabilities.
@@kbb Yes & no mention of CCS.
Nissan has already said that production of the Ariya will move to the Canton, MS. manufacturing plant.
Is the head and leg room Danger approved?
Mike Danger got into both front and back seats and did pretty well.
If considering EV tax credits, make sure you are reading ALL the new requirements!! Many additions this year!!! 7:17 7:17
You should have gone to Leapers Fork. I hope Nissan does well with this new car.
Some comparisons with the market leader Tesla would have been useful, not comparisons to the market loser: Mazda's 100 mi range car.
Why does this keep getting compared to the MX30? Literally any other EV is competition 😂
I'm impressed.
Nice job Nissan! Please revive Infiniti next from a Q50 3.0T owner
I think the volume knob is so overrated. I would say 99% of the time I use the sterling wheel. I get sick of the complaining in videos about it
Same, I almost never use the volume knob, just the controls on my steering wheel
Looks great but the range is only 230 miles approx, probably less.
They are probably testing a 63KW battery model. 87KW battery is 304 miles EPA
That’s still plenty for around town, doable for some trips …
@@Lovejazz01 just depends on your use case, places with great infrastructure should have no issues. The primary goal of the smaller battery is to come in less expensive than the base long range model, but to give you more features if you want bells and whistles but don’t care about super long range
Fun fact: most Americans drive an average of 30 miles a day. No doubt having more range will definitely make most car owners feel more comfortable, but in real-world scenarios a lot of folks just don't use it. It all depends on your driving needs. Thanks for the comment.
So the Leaf was a fail?
Absolutely loveeeeee
I’m not a fan of electric cars but Nissan has changed my perspective with this new Ariya I love it!
Beatifull on Italy.
If only it was a SUV !
The ARIYA is an impressive combination of "real car" features (available pano tilt n slide moonroof & sunshade) and modern EV tech (dedicated EV platform providing very roomy interior). Elegant design with high quality materials and NISSAN's unmatched record for EV safety provides a class leading choice for consumers.
Nissans history with their recalls is my concern…
