To be fair, I've been swayed by all the hate I've heard about it, I didn't expect the Tank to perform that well. First time seeing it in action here. Keen to see what it can do with beefier upgrades.

As an FJ Cruiser owner I am impressed by the Tank, seen quite a few of them on my trips to China.
Tank 300 is mainly sold in West China, where they need off road cars.

South Africa here: Took a test drive in the Tank HEV 2 days ago, very impressive. The cabin noise even on the petrol engine is amazingly quiet. Test driven the MERC GLE 300 too and the tank was quieter

The tank performed really well! Im impressed. I think the TRUE FACTORS were the driver of the tank picked great lines and the Jeep driver was a terrible driver. He literally picked the worst lines

Tank + portals + 35s 😊 who needs 37 or 40s. The Tank is awesome the Chinese understand the off road market for both cars & motorcycles. I don't care about their propaganda, I care about the products. I hope we'll get the Tank in the EU at some point in time.
You won't get this or any other dodgy cars because of all the regulations. We get lots of chinese and indian cars in south africa. They last like 5 to 8 years before you have to chuck it.

@@DefenderPuma Well, 5-8 years is correct if you do planned obsolescence. It happens for most modern brands. Car nowadays dont last the way they do in the old days.
@@Lcr34 Sort of but not really. A 5 year old Toyota will still be just fine, while a GWM will already have rust and broken plastic everything. It's cheaper, thinner everything. But sure if it's half the price I guess why not.
I'm rooting for the Tank though. Anything that makes 4x4 more accessible is great IMO.

Chinese cars would kill your domestic market, so i doubt either dems or reps would allow it) Or it will be taxed 200% just like the imported cars are in Asia. And it is reasonable, if you want to save or your own industry and feed your own citizens.
Ossies have their own kangaroos instead of cars, so it's not a problem for them.
P.S.: there was some local Vauxhall based on Opel in Australia, but kangaroos are much better

it did well but it didnt actually cross the finish line as such so not much of a winner really. Not to mention its hardly standard with 35's , portal axles and no doubt a whole lot of other very non standard stuff stiched onto it by that drop shipping place that owns the tank

I sort of got the impression the jeep driver thought he knew better and was trying to impress. for a chinese SUV the Tank is amazing for the price. I think it will be a 4wd to recon with in the future.
The Jeep's tire pressure was not adequate to climb those rocks.
The pressure in the tank was low and that's why it went up more easily.
It is not to detract from the work of the tank, it is just that they did not do it as they should on the jeep.

Sure do, the Jeep was at about 11psi, and the Tank started on 8psi going down to 6psi

A Question for the Savage crew. What reduction ratio are the portals? Most aftermarket portal manufacturers do little more than a 16% reduction, that doesn’t relieve much stress on upstream driveline components, particularly when significantly larger and heavier tyres are fitted. Something like 1.5:1 ratio is what is really needed for serious offroading.
Aussies really know what offroad is. Note to Europeans: this is offroad. An unpaved road is a road.

It’s Chinese, so we will never hear about it in U.S. There are also Tank 400, 500 and a new 600 is coming. The maker GWM has other brands like ORA EV, which we are also denied by American media and government to know their existence. Lucky Australia.
