South Africa here: Took a test drive in the Tank HEV 2 days ago, very impressive. The cabin noise even on the petrol engine is amazingly quiet. Test driven the MERC GLE 300 too and the tank was quieter

The tank performed really well! Im impressed. I think the TRUE FACTORS were the driver of the tank picked great lines and the Jeep driver was a terrible driver. He literally picked the worst lines

To be fair, I've been swayed by all the hate I've heard about it, I didn't expect the Tank to perform that well. First time seeing it in action here. Keen to see what it can do with beefier upgrades.

Tank + portals + 35s 😊 who needs 37 or 40s. The Tank is awesome the Chinese understand the off road market for both cars & motorcycles. I don't care about their propaganda, I care about the products. I hope we'll get the Tank in the EU at some point in time.
You won't get this or any other dodgy cars because of all the regulations. We get lots of chinese and indian cars in south africa. They last like 5 to 8 years before you have to chuck it.

@@AapVanDieKaap Well, 5-8 years is correct if you do planned obsolescence. It happens for most modern brands. Car nowadays dont last the way they do in the old days.
@@Lcr34 Sort of but not really. A 5 year old Toyota will still be just fine, while a GWM will already have rust and broken plastic everything. It's cheaper, thinner everything. But sure if it's half the price I guess why not.
I'm rooting for the Tank though. Anything that makes 4x4 more accessible is great IMO.

it did well but it didnt actually cross the finish line as such so not much of a winner really. Not to mention its hardly standard with 35's , portal axles and no doubt a whole lot of other very non standard stuff stiched onto it by that drop shipping place that owns the tank

Sure do, the Jeep was at about 11psi, and the Tank started on 8psi going down to 6psi

You guys should have done the same lines up little red to make it fiar. Jeep took the harder lines.
The Jeep's tire pressure was not adequate to climb those rocks.
The pressure in the tank was low and that's why it went up more easily.
It is not to detract from the work of the tank, it is just that they did not do it as they should on the jeep.

It’s Chinese, so we will never hear about it in U.S. There are also Tank 400, 500 and a new 600 is coming. The maker GWM has other brands like ORA EV, which we are also denied by American media and government to know their existence. Lucky Australia.

Lots of stuff done to secure the front end. The portals put alot of leverage on things. So things would last a little while then break.

The Tank was running on a aftermarket shaft, not the factory stock one, they will put on a improved version later.

this wasn't really a full blown comparison between the 2 cars. The jeep driver has done these tracks so many times whilst this was one of the first for the tank. This was just trying to put the tank on the map with something that it could go up against cause not a whole lot in the market as a comparison

The current generation Ford Bronco was launched in 2021, while the tank300 was first launched in 2020. So, it is actually the opposite.

the Bronco prototype was done in 2019 and the Ford's original plan was to launch the Bronco by the end of 2019, but things got delayed. It is just coincidence the front face of the tank 300 looks similar to Bronco. I designed some toolings for the Bronco prototype chasis back in 2018. The tank 300 chasis is something different. So, it's just like a guy who looks really like you, but from another country. @@anibalbabilonia1867

As an FJ Cruiser owner I am impressed by the Tank, seen quite a few of them on my trips to China.
Tank 300 is mainly sold in West China, where they need off road cars.
