I learn more about catfishing from your videos, than I do at the catfish seminars. Great job, good luck on your next outing. Go catch that 90# + catfish, you're due. Like I've said before, You're the Master......
Thanks for the detailed info Catfish Dave! I'm working on rigging my 24' pontoon boat into a fishing machine. Electronics alone will cost more than the boat and trailer did back when I bought it, but staying low on the boat cost helps to allow me to splurge on gear to outfit it for whatever I'd like to do in the future. I appreciate the straight forward advice you offer us! I'm a retired truck driver and noob catfisherman looking forward to enjoying more time on the water.
keeping things simple = much more time fishing. You need what you got and you got what you need. Great show and the knowledge shown is right in front you.
Man dude I’m not fishing currently at the time, due to health issues but I’ll tell ya love your channel, you make sense, common sense in a boat in the water, alone, always helps to have common sense!! Huh? Well I’ve always wondered about your equipment I appreciate your video today!! Alright keep at it, and be safe!! I learn a lot from your channel!!!
Good Video. The breakdown and explanations was great. Several years ago you did a similar video which helped me with a reel selection, the Diawa Seagate, and I haven’t been disapointed yet. Hope to see more of these in the future.
I've been waiting for this equipment video! Well done!! My Tracker Grizzly is set up similarly, but I'd rather have a hull like yours for the extra freeboard and easier entry in rough water or when facing large wakes in the Intra-Coastal Waterway. I agree with the tiller outboard on a 16-17' open boat for the extra deck space. I walked away from a lot of center consoles for this reason. You always manage to put out great information. New folks coming into this sport only need to learn from your videos and they'll be on the fish in short order (if the fish are there).
Same thing as my dad has his is just a little older and its fourteen feet long but the same width as the sixteen footer. He didnt take it out all last year he mostly fished the shallow river and didnt want to go up on some rocks. He actually has two canoes that he built into a catamaran with chairs he built so four people can sit comfortably. He built a trailer for it that tilts down when you pull a lever. It uses a gas motor and a trolling motor plus two canoe paddles.
Thanks Dave Algorithms Subscribe Algorithms. I really enjoyed your walk around. I also wondered about your different set ups. Thanks again. You keep us arm chair fisherman going through the winter.
Yep Dave, this is what makes you the best ... Having the gear, AND knowing how to use it . Most guys go for "the flavor of the week" . Generally because it costs more and good for "the picture". lol Good video, and teaching experience . :)
There was boat and catfish gear in the video, that makes it a boat and catfish gear video. Thanks Dave, very informative.. Great video! The ladies love all the "stiff rod" talk, but don't go telling them "I got mono on a stiff rod", that could be a deal breaker?😉
That’s a nice simple set up you have and it gets the job done. Enjoy your videos !! No peek in the cooler ? Let’s see the variety of cheese in their 😂 Hope to see ya tomorrow at CatCon
MY OLDER 50 hp MERC WOULD RUN A LONG WAY WITH ONE 5 Gallon Tank And push trihull Ranger 15 foot fine. Float on trailer, can be From home to Lake a mile away, and be on other side of Lake in 15 minutes. Wouldn’t work for tournaments But I don’t do them. Enjoy getting out for Catch and Release Out on water for enjoyment in Nature among the Cypress Thanks for Sharing Dave
Dave, this is an excellent video! Quick question: Can you talk about your experiences with your electronics? You have hands-on experience using the stuff; if I try to get information, I talk to some kid who has only memorized talking points. Did you install your electronics yourself? Which transducer did you change out? Do the signals from the transducers interfere with each other? Etc. Dave, if my outboard needs attention, 50 shops around here can work on it, but if I have a problem with my electronics (and I do), good luck finding someone who will deal with it. Thanks again, Dave, for all your time and attention in composing these videos.
I'm not only an old fisherman I'm an old technology geek, too. I've not had the opportunity to mess with fish finders since the early 80s and they've come a long way since then which is an understatement. I want to play around and learn those new ones so bad. Who has one of the newer ones with the bells and whistles and is it handy enough to satisfy you?
Nice house, dude! Fishing must pay well. 😀Is it just me or does that new net make you work a lot harder to lift a big fish out of the water, because of the longer length of the net. You seem to have to lift the net a lot higher to clear the side of the boat. I'm thinking the ole back is getting more strain.
Did you add the ipilot conversion kit or did your trolling motor come with it? I have the power drive 2 and had to replace the head with the conversion kit.
Dave, There are several different momoi braded lines, Whitch one do you use, I want to buy once, I'm disabled an on a fixed income so I want the best. I say buy once, cry once😅.
Come on people, let’s get Catfish Dave up and over 100 thousand subscribers!

Enjoyed your equipment video for catfish.👍👍💪
Thanks for the briefing Dave. I hope your down time is minimal. It is always better to have the down time in your driveway than out on the water.
Same thing as my dad has his is just a little older and its fourteen feet long but the same width as the sixteen footer.

Nice house too !
You got a big ol fancy house for a catfisherman
That’s what I’m talking about too! Dang mansion! Boat don’t match the house. With a house like that I’d think he’d have a big ol sea ark!
I couldn’t afford the property taxes on that mansion!😂

Great video Dave thanks.
Have been waiting for this. Thanks for posting
I'd like to see some more bank fishing videos if you find time
Awesome setup catfish Dave, but still did not see the catfish Dave’s bling bling rod…lol
I haven't changed my mono out in over 6 years, and I catch Bull Reds and small sharks all the time and have not had any problems...
I didn't know that Dave lived in the playboy mansion.
Nice house, dude! Fishing must pay well. 😀Is it just me or does that new net make you work a lot harder to lift a big fish out of the water, because of the longer length of the net. Thanks catfish Dave 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What did you do with your other boat? I felt bad when you were having trouble with it. Thanks for all your great video's and stay safe!
Thanks as always. Stay safe . Just had 1 question what engine does your explorer have????
Do you need to use two transducers for two fish finders? Thanks
What no more Daiwa reels, what’s up with that?
Good info video as always..
Oustanding seminar!
What model do you consider the junky transducer for the garmin the 54 or is it the 56
Raw and real--my kind of guy...
Thanks for the info! Any reason why you stopped using the seagate reels?
Thank you.
Dave thanks for the video. Question, your knot to the hooks does not look like a snell knot. What knot is it?
You need that 60 dollar Yeti bucket to keep your ropes and chicken safe. You can even set on it.🤪😂😂😂
I wish I was Dave. Hoping for a good year of fishing 🤗🤔😉
Catfish Dave is loaded $
Did you add the ipilot conversion kit or did your trolling motor come with it?
I have the power drive 2 and had to replace the head with the conversion kit.
Forgot to mention the yeti bucket...😁
the mailman thanks you for having a nice big mailbox
Dave, There are several different momoi braded lines, Whitch one do you use, I want to buy once, I'm disabled an on a fixed income so I want the best. I say buy once, cry once😅.
Just poured a load of 3/4 oz trolling weights with #7 crane swivels on each end, might work well on your skip jack rods. How can I send you some?
Thanks Dave.
Nice rig
You got it Dave !
👍👍
What type of knot do you like to use?
Hey Dave what is the speeder board for and what dose it do?
Excellent
THANKS!
What action were the Madkatz rods?
Good info!
Awesome
What action are your rods? I tried to pause the video to see but i had no luck. Do you prefer heavy or medium heavy?
Really like this video, gives me some ideas about better rods and equipment,Thanks Dave, have a blessed day.👍🙏
Do you only fish for catfish? You always release fish in the videos do you keep anything?
Thanks Dude.
Never realized catfishing was that scientific come a long way from huckleberry Finn with cane pole a hook and maybe some kind of weight 😮.
Are most of your rods 7'6'' and are they one piece, regardless of what your using them for?
Thanks again
I got the the same boat, but I don't catch the same fish.
Good video
