    The mid tier I would hire in an instant... He's the only one I thought was worth more than his price. The $950 was good, but the fact he used (a lot by the way) licensed footage from the ring, puts a bad taste in my mouth. He just wasn't worth that. This was super fun to watch though. A+ voiceovers too!

      Plot twist: the reason it was so expensive was because he actually licensed the footage >:O

  • @RyanGoldfishTV
    @RyanGoldfishTV 2 года назад +71

    I thought the expensive one was going to be the cheapest. They literally just stuck you in front of the footage from the tape in "The Ring" and colour graded it. So unless the $900 was spent acquiring the rights to use the footage, then that's a scam.
    The cheapest one kinda looked a bit cheap, it looked like it was just a bunch of stock effects, stock backgrounds and stock 3D model animations plonked together. The lack of colour grading was a big issue for that one.
    The mid-range one was definitely my favourite, did a decent job to make it look like you were actually in the settings behind. I thought that was the most expensive tbh.

    • @geefbird

      Couldn't have said it better myself. I would be interested to know if they sent that video over with a license to use the footage from The Ring.

    • @Squizzomatic
      @Squizzomatic 2 года назад

      I think 95% is generous lol I think it’s like 99% footage from the deadly video in The Ring. The only stuff I don’t recognize is the color shot in the forest and the goat head. But literally the rest is The Ring

  • @TheJediNinja

    I’m guessing the first one was the $900, that looked like a lot of licensed footage lol

  • @jayrett
    @jayrett 2 года назад +11

    The third clip feels the most enagaging and professional, I think. The first two use his footage and it almost comes off like he's bored or uninterested, which in fairness was kind of the point of the footage he sent in, seemingly. But the third took the same footage and made him look intense.

  • @hohmerplays
    @hohmerplays 2 года назад +21

    Wow. I can’t believe „The Ring“-video was 950$. It’s around 85% footage of the movie video. The only thing that is clearly different is the beginning and the sequence with the goathead. And maybe the faucet. I wouldn’t consider the work worth almost 1k, but I would love to hear other opinions why it is worth 950 dollars. 🤔

      especially coming from someone who knows of the movie, but hasnt seen it. I thought that was all footage from the ring, that's the issue when you use other medias footage. The average viewer cant appreciate it enough bc they view it as generic reused elements of said media

    From my experience that first video was definitely unlicensed. 90% of that video is unedited The Ring footage. You got swindled. I thought the last one was best with effects going in front of your footage. The first video only had overlays when it when it had a circular cutout over your head. Unusable first one.. Again, zero percent chance it was licensed use of the film

  • @DJSkandalous

    96 dollar one for the win. It was catchy and creative and will make you remember it. The 900 dollar one even though from the Ring movie (great movie btw) is just too creepy for a ad and too much footage from it is used. You might get people to x out that ad lol.

    Objectively... the mid tier one is the best video for your money. Even if they sent that 950 dollar one over with a license to use the footage from The Ring, all they did was edit you into a scene from The Ring. Those transitions aren't even the seller's edits, they are in the movie. They literally just added you to existing footage. The mid tier edit was unique, capitalized on your video quality and also maximized your over all value for what you spent. The color grading was pretty good too.

  • @XiCynx
    @XiCynx 2 года назад +2

    That $96 edit was gold. He did a very well job, and could definitely charge more for what he did if he wanted. All I said was "Wooow, thaaat was good" and just sat there with a smile on my face for a minute taking in that last edit.

    Howdy! local horror buff here! I absolutely love the spooky one but i hate to say that every bit of that is snagged from the american rendition of the ring forbidden tape scene. its alot of fun to watch how they added you in, but for the cost they hit you with, its a real shame that they didnt use anything of their own or even at least use something non copyrighted.

  • @chrisdemario2636

    The last one also has some really awesome transition effects. I loved those!!

  • @HooverM75
    @HooverM75 2 года назад

    Honestly I feel the mid-tier was the expensive one. They color graded with each transition, and did the camera moves, etc. The most expensive one, there are a few times, for example when you were in the mirror, where it just looked fake or pasted in. I would expect more for $900+ than what was given. I would have definitely tipped the mid-tier editor bonus money for what they sent back. I was wondering if you could post that green screen footage, even on the discord so community members could see what they could come up with. I think that would be cool.

    The third one was by far the best. I assumed the second one was $900 on the basis that the models were rigged especially for this and tracked your movements, but obviously that wasn't the case and they were just stick/reused models and movements.
    As others have said, if that $900 for the first one didn't go towards licencing then I have no idea where it did go

  • @DerekHuey

    The third one was *by far* the best.

  • @WedgeTalon

    I had no hesitation for the cheapest one, was hesitating between the first and the third for the 950 but thought yeah probably the first. I also thought that you would love the third. The matched depth zoom in, the masks, the added in camera shake to fit the zoom, all the small details were what made me hesitate on this one for the most expensive

    Haha I love the last "ad". It reminds me of perfume ads. Well done, highly edited and the ad has nothing to do with the product. :D
    Hard to say which one is which. I go with this: "The Ring" was the 950$, the different characters the 90$ and the one in the city (the last ad) the 80$.

    so... about 80-90% of that footage from the $900 i'm pretty sure is from 100% cuts from the rings's videotape. so... he didn't do much, he just put the original VHS tape with minor changes and poorly cut you into it. that's how he "nailed the creepy vibes". i'm surprised scott didn't got that.
    i only liked the $90 one tbh

  • @sh1012
    @sh1012 2 года назад

    Tbh, I thought the last one was the most expensive, because I felt the most professionalism from him, he color corrected to each scene and used your footage like it was meant to be used that way.
    The first one, that was the most expensive, felt cool and gave a spooky feeling all right, but your footage felt misplaced in the scenes, as it did not belong, plus there might be licensing issues, with the ring footage. So not worth the 950,-.
    The cheep option also felt like the cheep option, it felt like he was still learning a lot, and is experimenting with the things he want to be better at (Model rig). There was no color correction of your footage and it seemed to be a lot of overlapping stuck models over stuck backgrounds.

    I think the $950 is basicly using the whole tape segment from "The Ring" and added you into it. I believe most of the background audio is also from that segment.
    Might get into some problems if one uses it for comercial use.
    my 2 cents.

The 1st one, while has tons of cool elements in it, seems a bit too overdone and leaned very cheesy to me. 2nd one was good, but looked like I was about to get an ad for a mobile game or something lol. That last one just seemed a lot more put together, and cohesive. I was honestly expecting the last one to be the expensive one...esp since that person used so much licensed footage....for a company trying to market copyright-free music. Oh the irony.

    Guessing in the comments isn't appropriate way. Is very easy to jump and see what Harris says. However he is my guess based on what effort in post production would take me, to make similar edits.

    Loved the Video! Would you ever consider doing a detailed comparison between the deity vo7u and the beacn microphone? They seem to be the top usb microphones and I would love to see which one comes out better. Thanks!

    I feel like the last one was the $900, however, I don't see how it's worth that much, not even close.

      Nevermind, just saw the first one was the most expensive. It looks great but there is no way that's a $900 work, lmao.
