I'm 14 going to turn fifteen for my freshman year of high school and i haven't been able to find one high school foreign exchange student program for a full year from the U.S. to England and it's really stressful
Due to England's immigration laws, US students are only able to stay a maximum of 6 months (sad, I know!). It's uncommon that you'll find a program through your high school. I had to research a program and apply myself and force my school to cooperate with me being on an exchange, but most schools are pretty finicky about the whole thing. I know my program only allowed students between 16-20 to partake, but you might be able to find something for younger students. Best of luck!
@@brooklynbanks9565 I went through Study Abroad UK, but I recommend researching different programs and asking as many questions as you can to find what will fit best for you :)
Do many people go to countries when they’re already 100% fluent? I’m British and I’d love to do a high school exchange programme in the US but from what I researched most people do high school exchange programmes to learn the language
A lot of people do study abroad to learn a language, but many people I met (myself included) also chose to go to simply experience a new culture and life in a different country! Even though the US and UK are similar in many ways, there's a lot of differences that you wouldn't expect. If you're curious about moving to the US one day (or whatever country you're interested in) then studying abroad is also a really great way to meet people and see what day-to-day life is like :) Short story: I highly recommend trying a hs exchange.
Hi Allegra! With Study Abroad UK, you can't pick your school/location. Your placement is determined by whatever classes you want to take, but most students are placed around Birmingham or north of Birmingham :) I'll have a video coming very soon about studying abroad in the UK, so stay tuned!
I’m so confused of where you went from to where? First you went on a plane from (I assume America) and then you boarded a plane to Amsterdam and then England? Why not just take a plane from America to England?
Most flights have layovers because there are just so many different places people need to be. This way if you want to go to Amsterdam you get off the first layover but if you'd like to go to England you keep going. Kind of like bus stops:)
Its doesnt work like that. Just because the dollar is worth less doesnt mean youll get the same amount of pounds. I.e. you cant just change 4 dollars to 4 pounds
Im pretty sure the dollar is valued higher? So when you exchange it to British Pounds, its worth less. So like 50 dollars would be like 30 british pounds for example.
How do u go from America to England as an exchange student cause like I’m try to do that, it’s seems super cool and I wanna do it before I’m an adult. Do it my senior year
I 100% recommend doing an exchange if you can! I recommend talking to your high school counselor or researching different exchange organizations based in the US or UK to start off with.
I recommend to just start looking up and contacting different exchange organizations that have a program that you're looking for! Once you contact a company they'll help take you through the steps needed to apply :)
i'm also an american who just moved to england!
I hope it went well or is still going well!
Lucky you! Im so tired of the US, I've moved around my whole life and I want to finally go somewhere in europe
