I never learned how to shave cause my mom is sick... So I just bought 'throwaway racers'. Now 3 years later after lots of ingrown hairs and being dumb and not listening to my body. I finally know what works for me now! I'm so happy for the people that make these videos 👐🏼🙏🏼
Hi Dr Nina I use Venus ravors and I must be honest I just shaved, I use a mirror but I don't worry about direction I'm shaving . What I think has saves me is I exfolate ( my girl ) immediately after. Then I use fresh aloe vera and tee tree oil. I've never had a problem with ingrown hairs or irritation. As for shaving cream I use hair conditioner, I have conditioners that did not work for my 4c natural hair so I use them to shave.
@@CrimeAllTheTime You shouldn't get bumps immediately after, can I suggest checking your razor. A fresh razor can make all the difference. Yes I exfoliate right after shaving then I use fresh aloe vera and tea tree oil. Exfoliating remove all dead skin and the tea tree oil helps in healing/ irritation from shaving
Thank you so, I followed this like you said, finally, there was no bleeding, no cuts, no burning, dry spots, I wish somebody said something about a scrub before.
I have literally seen multiple videos on shaving and this is one of the most thorough ones I have seen. I did not realize how cost-effective it would be to just head to Dollar Tree for some shaving supplies. I also did not recognize before how much time you need to invest for a good, solid shave. Thank you so much for this as I almost gave up on shaving altogether.
I need someone to tell me how to actually shave down there, because even with every step, the hair is just there, ready to poke out. And girl, I can't shave every two hours.
I thought I was the only one like that 😭 yes even I need someone to tell me exactly how to do it, my hair just grows back the next day and damn I hate that
Hair will grow back within 2-3 days, it’s extremely annoying. But if you want to stay fresh down there for at least a day always shave sideways and use coconut oil so it doesn’t itch. Once you get in the shower use preferably a men’s razor (it works best) and shave last when your body is soaked. For the booty part don’t forget your mirror and coconut oil. After you finish tea tree oil is your absolute best friend. Hope it helps girl!
@@amandab3001 No matter how I shave, there's still hair underneath and I can actually feel it and see it. I have tried shaving creams, aloe vera, coconut oil. Different razors, as I usually use men's but tried also women's and and old fanishoned one with the sharp razors. Nothing works, the hair is still there. And by hair I mean thick small ones that just won't go away, growing back the next day. To be honest, if I could get a smooth result, I would put time into shaving every day, but I don't. No matter how I shave, there's still hairs pocking out. Thank you for the suggestions, though. 😊
lovemydobe Same girl it’s a struggle, i also try to follow every step. At first it feels great but then you start noticing the little annoying hairs that grow so quickly and you’re just like 😩
After years of ingrown hairs from shaving, and a recent chemical burn from what I thought was my trusted hair removal cream, I now know HOW to shave 🤦🏾♀️! Thank you for your consistent education and blessings! 💜

I've always shaved. Mostly because i never asked my mom to get waxed. Alot of the times, it caused ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Something that helps tremendously was "tend skin"
This is the best video I’ve seen on this subject. It was like talking to a girlfriend, it engaged me, made me laugh and informed me. I loved it & learned A LOT. Thanks for sharing.
You are an absolute insparation!! I literally stumbled upon your page. I've suffered from HS for over 20 years and was only diagnosed a year ago. I've always been thin but with age and hypothyroidism( I also have graves disease) maintaining my weight is a life sytle!! The weight definitely made the HS worse!! I've been on Humira for 6 months and it has been a God send. The lenght of time it took to diagnose my conduction made it worse so Humaria has been the only thing that works for me. I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, God is truly using you to help others while you walk in you purpose!! Your light is super bright sis!! I pray your contunied success and well being!! Thank you!!❤❤❤
I use hair removal cream over my bootie and back and it’s veeerryyy easy, I use it on legs as well if I’m feeling too lazy to shave. I put on the cream and leave it for 10 minutes then using a rough small towel, I wipe off all the hair and come out completely smooth. No razor bumps, rashes or itchiness.
i stumbled upon this video for the first time and girl, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE??😭😭 i never shave my legs and my vagina for fear of irritation and ingrown hairs and the first time i shaved proved it to me and i just completely stopped after that. i left it at that and just planned on saving some money when i start working to get it lasered off but watching this taught me everything i've been doing wrong and ways to improve it. thank you so much! i'll definitely give these tips a go!

Im 20 just learning how to shave properly... I also thought there was something wrong with me having to shave a few times a week. Thank you for this video girl🥺❤️
I am 34 and finally shaved down there. I’ve been doing A LOT of research via RUclips, and your video has been the best one. Thank you for all these great tips!!
Your shaving tips are amazing !!! I'm trying to get rid of my strawberry legs and I really see the results ! I'm not totally done but sis you just save my life 🔥👌🏾❤️❤️ Waiting for a new skincare / feminine hygiene giveway tho 😆
Bosoka Tanganika I use a rag to wash my legs before I shave / I use a good amount of shaving cream and a 5 blades razor / I use a homemade scrub (coffee ground lemon juice and honey) / I wash a second time with my rag to get rid of the scrub's smell / rinse my legs with cold water / wait til my legs dry (don't use a towel) / apply coconut oil or shea butter / finally apply my body cream or lotion 👌🏾❤️❤️
You are so hilarious!! Seriously...but that's what makes the videos more interesting to watch! You are adorable and hilarious! I find myself coming back to your videos the most, when I wanna know about shaving down below, the arm pits and all things "body related." I really, truly appreciate you taking the time educating us all on getting beautiful! We often put on makeup and clothing and forget about down below. I found myself totally and completely forgetting about...or should I say "ignoring," my area down there and the arm pits, because I was just sick of bumping up after shaving. I've ALWAYS wanted to be baby smooth down below! Always! Thank you and please DON'T STOP making these videos. We love and appreciate you!
I use suave conditioner to shave too! It seems to work so much better than shaving cream and its more for your money. It's really saved me from razor cuts and burns. I'm going to have to try the exfoliating before shaving. Never tried that. Thanks for the video.
Gonna be real here and say I have a rather big tummy and its hard to shave down there. I don't have any kind of mirror for guidance and when I shave, and I find it hard to do, especially on the sides and between my thigh area. I'm afraid I'm gonna cut myself cause my tub is very small, and I can't exactly stand with my legs spread apart, you know? That and it's like a jungle down there. I love your videos so much cause they really give me confidence about shaving my lady bits, so thank you for sharing these tips! :)
I remember watching you obese and in Australia. You were the first black woman to inspire me to lose the weight! Happy to see you made it through your Ph.d program ♥️♥️♥️
Thank u so much n for me what helps after shave I make a mixtures is shea, mango, avocado, cocoa and kokum butter with oils like olive oil, canola oil, avocado oil and essential
Wow this is very helpful! I have avoided the pool because I didn't know how to remove hair properly. And I admit, I get really uncomfortable with the thought of letting someone else remove my hair in my bikini area. This video is so thorough. Thank you.
i’m 15 and naturally very pale and blonde also i don’t have much hair at all but i see darker hairs growing on my legs so i really wanna shave my legs and well tanks for this hehe
Amazing video and thank you for stressing to go to a doctor if the same things keep happening for long periods of time after shaving. Personally, when I shave my legs and any area other than my arms then I am completely fine. But when I shave my arms, I just get this rash of large bumps everywhere, which becomes itchy and doesn't go away for a month and once it does go away I am left with dark marks all over my arms. I've stopped shaving my arms for about two years now, but summer is coming and I just wanna wear cute sleeveless clothes without feeling self-conscious. So, I will definitely go seek medical help for that. Also, your other tips were really helpful as well, thanks so much! xx
Seriously every person (MAYBE most girls) need this video... I have not clue abt this ... at all and I don't have anyone to teach me or money to go to a place where they do tjis things(i'm scared too)
I have been shaving for 10 years until recently i switched to waxing. The thing with shaving is that i spent at least an hour in the shower, put so much time and care to my body and then the next day i feel the hairs already popping out again, my hair growth is so fast that i had to shave everyday tbh.
Can someone please tell me, do you shave it ALL off down there or just the sides because I never know and then I see people on Instagram wearing a cheeky (I guess that’s the best way to describe it) bikini and it seems they have no hair. I understand it’s personal preference but what do people usually do. Thank you
Exfoliate twice a week up to 3times if ur skin isnt that sensitive, use a homemade scrub(coffee+olive oil or any other oil u have) scrub scrub scrub really good but dont hurt ur skin dont be too aggressive haha, then hydrate really well after shaving, make sure u use shaving cream not lotion and ur razor shouldnt be dull. Exfoliating saved me honestly i dont have much of ingrown hairs anymore the problem is i have the black marks on my skin as if it s the hair i have inside and idk how to get rid of it as my legs are pretty white
@@asmaemahmoudi1944 oh no please don't use coffee! Use sugar, coffee has too sharp edges and makes very tiny cuts in the skin making it more irritated.
@@asmaemahmoudi1944 perhaps because the body is has tougher skin. However, I still think if dealing with very sensitive areas like the vaginal area, coffee is a bit too harsh. Sorry, I just don't want anyone getting hurt, especially there.

I never learned how to shave cause my mom is sick... So I just bought 'throwaway racers'. Now 3 years later after lots of ingrown hairs and being dumb and not listening to my body. I finally know what works for me now! I'm so happy for the people that make these videos 👐🏼🙏🏼
EYEBROWYS ARE BOMBBBBBBBBB
Hi Dr Nina
I use Venus ravors and I must be honest I just shaved, I use a mirror but I don't worry about direction I'm shaving .
Those are excellent ideas! Thanks!
So u shave all off it off then exfoliate? How do u exfoliate frsh cut kitty? I get itchy bumps
@@CrimeAllTheTime
You shouldn't get bumps immediately after, can I suggest checking your razor. A fresh razor can make all the difference.
Yes I exfoliate right after shaving then I use fresh aloe vera and tea tree oil. Exfoliating remove all dead skin and the tea tree oil helps in healing/ irritation from shaving
@@rosannepaige2621 what do you exfoliate with please and thank you.😊
Wat do u use to exfoliate?
I'm a nurse and I LOVE how you've taken the boredom out of education! I love teaching and make it fun too! Educate us giiiirl! 😘
Thank you so, I followed this like you said, finally, there was no bleeding, no cuts, no burning, dry spots, I wish somebody said something about a scrub before.
Lol love her facial expressions
Rach hahaha! Thanks!
came for the info, stayed for the personality. LOVE!
At first it feels great but then you start noticing the little annoying hairs that grow so quickly and you’re just like 😩
@@bwieta might be time to try waxing. And you can try waxing using some topical numbing creams if it hurts too much
I itch after a shave. What helps me is some baking soda with soap on my wash cloth and then coconut oil as moisture.
do u have any tips for ingrown hairs and scars? :)
Honestly she’s so good at explaining I subscribed right away
I joined the Harvey's shave club and that pre shave and after shave exfoliate is the bomb.
This was definitely right on time!! Always leave with so much information with all your videos!! Oh and your braids are so pretty.
Thanks so much beautiful!
After years of ingrown hairs from shaving, and a recent chemical burn from what I thought was my trusted hair removal cream, I now know HOW to shave 🤦🏾♀️! Thank you for your consistent education and blessings! 💜
THANK YOU not many people are brave enough to do this but we NEED IT
This video is everything. I'm nearly 22 and still haven't figured out how to shave properly. Definitely gonna be trying out some of your tips!
I am almost 20 now and I just started taking my TIME with stuff like body care. Just after I realised that if I continue rushing with everything related to my body I'm not gonna have this body for a very long time. Thank you for this video
Thank you so much for this. It’s hard to talk about things like this with my mother because I feel embarrassed. You truly don’t know how much you bless us.❤️
Try to open up to your mother. At least give her a chance to hear the issues of your heart.
You say, some of yall act like yall scared to touch, that precious lamb... ~~LOL... Im 40 yrs old & some of these things, i have never heard or ever been taught!! Thank you so much Beautiful... :-)
I've always shaved. Mostly because i never asked my mom to get waxed. Alot of the times, it caused ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Something that helps tremendously was "tend skin"
Oh great info! Thanks!
no problem💞
What is "tend skin"? I have razor bumps and was wondering how to get rid of them. Any advice?
I just came out of the shower and I'm all squeaky clean but this video has me wanting to go back in the shower again. You make it look so luxurious! I cannot get enough of your videos.
First time I shaved I irritated my legs so much I could barely sleep! this has helped a lot. thank you.
So glad I came to RUclips for this first!! I've been shaving for years and finally got tired of razor burn enough to see what someone else recommends. Thank you!! 😩
This video came too late!🙄 I've shaved today and I cut myself two damn times lol.
OOOHHHH NOOOOOO! May be for nect time?
Yes girl, I have tried your shaving technique and my skin feels so soft, smooth and amazing now!!! I just have problems in between my thighs for boils and dark thighs. Can you help me on that please?! 😔😞😊
Jasmine Bonner I have dark inner thighs as well. I’ve lost 50 pounds and i exfoliate my skin and use coconut oil and it has lightening up my inner thighs

I love the fact that you are a doctor go girl!!!!!
please make a video on how to deal with dry skin.
and also your hair care routine
Your shaving tips are amazing !!! I'm trying to get rid of my strawberry legs and I really see the results ! I'm not totally done but sis you just save my life 🔥👌🏾❤️❤️
Waiting for a new skincare / feminine hygiene giveway tho 😆
I got you! HA!
Hawa What products do you use ? I’m trying to get rid of mine
@@hawa6180 I screenshot this comment thank you🙂🙂
Xenia Stephenson you're welcome !
The laugh after she said “ DOWWWNNN THEREEEE” 😂😂😂
And whole my life I've been thought to shave the opposite direction from how the hair grows.. 😂 I'll try this technique! Thank you!
I've had so much issue with this in my sensitive parts! I'm going to try these. I'm so exited. Thank you!
I am obsessed with this channel! Exactly what I need in my life😊
5:40 - she came for me lol I love a HOT shower
I use suave conditioner to shave too! It seems to work so much better than shaving cream and its more for your money. It's really saved me from razor cuts and burns. I'm going to have to try the exfoliating before shaving. Never tried that. Thanks for the video.
Tysm!! I’ve never felt so clean in my life!
Those shaving hacks were really helpful thank you 😊
Gonna be real here and say I have a rather big tummy and its hard to shave down there. :)
I have strawberry legs due to constant shaving, and I use ponds lotion to get rid of it and it works!!
Baby oil with aloe!! First shave with cream and after with the oil to make sure and i swear it make you so smooth and no strawberry legs :)
Yass sis! This video is right on time for me good looks!
YAAAAAY!
Your so helpful and funny at the same time thx dr. nina
You're that big sister everyone girl needs
Your intro was hilarious 😆💕💜 thank you for all your tips and tricks! Always very helpful!
Wow this is very helpful! I have avoided the pool because I didn't know how to remove hair properly. And I admit, I get really uncomfortable with the thought of letting someone else remove my hair in my bikini area. This video is so thorough. Thank you.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. You are actually a life saver!
I know this is almost a year old, but this was so helpful. I have so much trouble with ingrown hair. Thank you, and I love your hair.
THANK YOU SO MUCH I am going to try shaving for the first time and I you got me prepared (my mom basically just said do it this direction)
i’m 15 and naturally very pale and blonde also i don’t have much hair at all but i see darker hairs growing on my legs so i really wanna shave my legs and well tanks for this hehe
Also, your other tips were really helpful as well, thanks so much! xx
i love watching your informative videos, you're so thorough
Thanks for this I’ve HS and am lost when it comes to hair removal I flare with two much touching or pulling hair 🤦🏽♀️.
Believe me. I understand all too well.
omg those arms😍
Thank you!
Seriously every person (MAYBE most girls) need this video... I have not clue abt this ... at all and I don't have anyone to teach me or money to go to a place where they do tjis things(i'm scared too)
thank you for this video. my mom never taught me this, but I sure as hell will be teaching my daughter
I have been shaving for 10 years until recently i switched to waxing. The thing with shaving is that i spent at least an hour in the shower, put so much time and care to my body and then the next day i feel the hairs already popping out again, my hair growth is so fast that i had to shave everyday tbh.
Hey. Thank you for these videos. They help me explain some things with my niece.
Seriously it's a big deal, thank you for all the tips! Binging your videos and learning so much 🙈
..........
I've been doing this wrong the WHOLE time?!
it’s only the intro and i already love u
Can someone please tell me, do you shave it ALL off down there or just the sides because I never know and then I see people on Instagram wearing a cheeky (I guess that’s the best way to describe it) bikini and it seems they have no hair. I understand it’s personal preference but what do people usually do. Thank you
Idk who decided I needed this in my recommended... but I needed this on my recommended. Thank you for this video!
do you recommend shaving your stomach the same way?
How can I avoid bumps/chicken skin after shaving down there? If the skin is already bumpy because of previous shaves, how can that be fixed?
@@甘い悲劇 they say coffee isnt good for your face but i heard it s good for the rest of the body, i ll try to avoid it from now on
@@asmaemahmoudi1944 perhaps because the body is has tougher skin. However, I still think if dealing with very sensitive areas like the vaginal area, coffee is a bit too harsh. Sorry, I just don't want anyone getting hurt, especially there.
Using honey and sugar with olive oil is useful
the braids look great on you 😍😍
this is now my favorite youtube channel. thank you so much girl 🥰
Thank you so much for making this video! I always would shave under my arms and I would have so many issues after. Following some your tips helped me have a painless process!
