I’ve always wished the sculk had some kind of infecting factor, but now I just wish this sculk horde mod had a way to activate itself without the help of the player
I kinda think that their idea of holding the skulk in an ancient fortress to keep it contained is really cool. Maybe they could expand on it? If you wanted to activate it without player interaction, perhaps the fortress could have a mystical crystal, as well as walls made of soul-infused blocks keeping the skulk inside the -fortress- well more like prison at this point. And over time the crystal would start to fail and the walls would crack, the skulk grows stronger, until that final moment, marked by an earth-shattering rumble, the skulk escapes from its prison and infects the world. That would give the player an end goal too. Do what the ancients had to do long ago. Fight the skulk back, and don't stop, push it all the way back to the fortress, and when you have it cornered there, strengthen the walls and reactivate the crystal to reseal the infection.
Opinions differ, perhaps there can be a command or a world/config setting to automatically start it whenever a given amount of in-game time has passed, though personally; the reason i despise S&R is exactly because it’ll just happen and it *will* dick you over whether you like it to or not. this, i much prefer because 1: it requires player activation and 2: YOU’re the only thing that can make it spread beyond a certain location (failing a raid), where S&R can just spawn anywhere whenever the fuck it wants to

This was what I was hoping Sculk would be like in vanilla. It also fits with how much Sculk resembles some sort of fungi. I'll be adding this to my world for sure! Also great showcase as always!
I wanna see the skulk be neutral to the player, sorta like the skulk is in the original game. If you're quiet and keep to yourself, you won't be attacked. This would lead to the player needing to make a choice. They _could_ just do nothing and watch as the rest of the overworld fights the skulk, as the player just watches. But more likely, at any point, they could join the fight and drive the skulk back underground, and when they do prove themselves to be a serious threat to the skulk _(by killing enough skulk enemies, attacking the skulk endermen, destroying a node, or purifying skulk)_ the skulk will divert all its attention on you and give you hell.
I actually like this idea a lot, but I guess the devs want it to be like"the evil" thing on your world that you need to destroy, and if you don't you and everything else will die
It was weird that the blind aspect of the sculk wasnt even shown whatsoever, a missed opportunity for the sculk to rely on sounds to kill mobs, with mobs like the Sculk Enderman being those who only have eyesight (a mob that is an eye for the sculk would be pretty cool, like the eyes are scouts or watchers of the sculk territory, a concentrated amount of eyes around a grave mind)
i wouldn't call it better the gravemind system is really cool and very unique but i don't really like the mobs they don't really give the sculky vibe also more unique mobs mainly based on sculk (in simple words not a infected variant) would be great also it would be awesome if this and sculk infection had compatibility i would love to see the mobs of sculk infection combined with the gravemind of sculk horde in my opinion both mods lack mobs if devs made more awesome and balanced mobs my life would be fulfilled 🤤
Imagine if you could use all the world infecting mods together and build outposts out of blocks whitelisted by all the mods wherever two or more of infections meet conecting them together to form the last civilisation in this corrupted world. Better take some villagers in there with you while you still have the option to.
I love the way the Gravemind works in this mod, it feels a lot like The Flood from the Halo franchise and as a long time fan of that franchise, I’m all for that!
Finally another quality sculk mod! Been a while wating for someoone tae create an actually threatening sculk mod. Cant wait tae try out this mod once possible!
Tbh, this and the witherstorm mod have the same vibes. Honestly would be amazing to play with this on a server and have stuff like super hero suits and stuff
@merilynnshark6144 I feel like what seperates this mod from scape and run is that it has a source, and it spreads. In scape and run, no matter how many millions of blocks from spawn you run, the parasites are just as strong and they come from literally anywhere. It kinda defeats the name of the mod (e)scape and run because you cant run. No where you run to is safe for any amount of time because the parasites are always there, whereas you can run from the skulk at the cost of leaving it to do whatever it wants.
Somebody needs to make a modpack with this mod, scape and run parasites, and the wither storm and watch what happens. If they aren't on the same versions, then somebody should to port them all onto the same version so this can happen.
This mod is very interesting, it is like the rest of the infection mods but with vanilla elements, it would also be very interesting if they made another mod like this but using the ender corruption instead
its sort of sad that it cant go with the sculked magpie origin because that would be such a perfect mix- being on the side of the sculk instead of against it- especially in multiplayer

This is exactly the mod I was looking for my Tech-Apocalypse modpack!. Just a pity that there is no version for 1.19.2. I dont want to miss Mekanism in my Pack, so I can only hope that the developers will also bring this great mod for 1.19.2.

This mod is what scape and run should have been. Adapted parasites in scape and run can have tens of thousands of HP.

Question could you do a review of fungal infection spores mod? Works similarly and quite literally just as dangerous as parasite and run.

The vanilla one is already a kind of flood if you think about it (a bunch of biomass that grows when living beings die nearby)
