I have just had the annoying experience of booking with Cebu Pacific recently CRK-NRT-CRK. The ONLY reason I booked 5J is because I live in Clark. Now the CABs Passenger Bill of Rights is a good start but one nefarious activity is this pre selecting iof insurance. I am sure a high percentage of passengers unknowingly or accidentally pay for this. This insurance is less than useless and most people do not want it. Next issue is the seats. I booked an exit row on both flights but this is also stupid and we ended up on one flight not next to each other. Very unfriendly site. I would happily pay double and fly with PAL. Ripping people off is not good marketing. It leaves people with a bad taste in their mouth and a desire to punish the airline.

They are just outsourcing their online services and calls to a call center. That explains why from time to time these things happen that just does not make any sense at all. Also, people taking the calls are just trained to a certain point that when it gets too technical they would not be able to handle it by their own and would ask the assistance of their supervisors. In cases like these, take note of the person whom you've spoken with and ask for an escalation if they are already too unbecoming, rude enough during the call or evidently cannot resolve the issue.

Had the same issue.. booked an aisle seat and paid for it. Got on the plane and was shocked i was assigned to a window seat. I always book aisle seat to and from... nakakagigil pero i just shurugged it... its budget airline after all... basura customer service.

In March 2024, I flew to Tokyo via Narita with Cebupac. I paid extra for a seat, expecting to choose my own, only to find that the platform had automatically assigned me one without any option to change it. This issue occurred in February, a month before my flight. I assumed that when check-in opened 72 hours prior to departure, I would still have the chance to select a different seat, but I was unable to do so. Take note, even at the time of booking, despite paying extra, I wasn't given the option to choose my seat. I've encountered this problem multiple times, both on domestic and international flights courtesy of Cebupac.

Had a similar experience last month on CP. Bought a preferred seat then saw a seat assignment that was at the rear. I did not proceed forward but kept going back and forth instead to see how I can get my preferred seat. Eventually I figured it out that you simply click on the seat you want and the assigned seat will be removed. Strangely the rear part seat previously assigned was also a "pay" seat option. It was not even an exit row seat. The site lacks information and is not very user friendly. Unlike CX wherein you are notified on the page where you make your seat selection.

      @@cutebalddiver Yes. I avoid if I can.
I think I only took Cebu Pacific thrice for the past 16 years. Those are for routes that aren’t served by other airlines. Or when it was the only available for the time I needed to fly. The last time was early this year. I just learned that they count the number of baggage. Even if you have 40kg total, you can only check in 2. No wonder some people tie bags together. So dumb.
The check-in staff acted condescendingly like I’m the dumb one. “Matagal nang ganyan. Di mo alam?”
I said, “Matagal na akong umiiwas sa airline na ito. Ngayon na lang ulit nakasakay dito dahil walang choice.”

You should also be aware of the equipment (Plane) on your itinerary and be aware of sudden equipment change/swap, considering that particular airline does not notify its passengers of such change. I keep checking periodically for such issues, especially when my preferred seat changes without notice. The first thing I would do is check the aircraft being used for that particular flight. Unfortunately that’s a common occurrence with budget airlines. Glad you still made your trip, though.

I had an issue with the Cebu Pac CSR too. Another kind of situation naman.. They seem to lack the information/training needed to resolve certain issues appropriately. If it is outside their skill set, some tend to make "mema" just so they can dish out an answer. An answer that does not make sense. my wild guess is that some CSRs avoid escalating an issue to another CSR (with more skill set) to avoid "coaching session." Coaching is a nice term for reprimand oi the BPO environment,

Same thing happened to us on an international trip on another airline. Bought seats for 11 pax (company holiday trip). Checked-in 24 hours before the flight, no problem. At T2 Counter, we were scattered all over, no preferred seats among us. Change to a smaller plane also. As for paid seats ni ha ni ho, no mention at all. Ty na lang. On the return we had the original plane and our purchased seats too.

Cebupac also changed the aircraft on one of my flights. Same thing happened to me, paid for seats at the right column and it disappeared, because Cebupac switched to a smaller aircraft. Caught this change weeks before the flight so I managed to avoid extra charges. Never booked seats at the right column in a 3 column configuration aircraft since.
I think Cebupac should notify passengers of any change regarding the booking…they have the passengers email for online bookings and so there is no excuse for Cebupac to not email and inform passengers that booked online.

@@onemorerevWhat happened to you feels like a crime. What's worse is that airline seems to be getting away with this practice of changing aircrafts and using it as a reason to charge affected passengers with additional fees. This business practice is unfair to the customer, and their failure to disclose flight changes to paid passengers feels like a scam. This is something that the government needs to catch, penalize, and correct to uphold consumer rights. Of course, the airline can be proactive and solve these issues, but we can only hope. Thank you for the PSA and I hope that more people can watch your video so that they can manage their expectations and formulate workarounds if they do decide to book with this airline.

2011 CRV ba auto mo lods?
based on experience, during check-in sa CEB. marereset yung preferred seat kahit supposedly saved na yun.
agree ako na hindi mo napansin step na magpapalit ng seats. pero ang totoo kasi, narereset sya and you'll have to start-over as if you're reserving your seats, ordering food, ordering extra check-in, etc.
yan yung reason bakit di na ako sumasakay sa CEB.
masikip ang leg room, walang proper channel for customer support, mabagal ang website nila at yung app nila ay useless din.

It probably wasn't the CSR's fault either. Call centers tend to give front liners incomplete information and tools to view these kinds of info. What you should have done was ask for a manager. Those guys tend to have complete tools.

but the thing is, when he or she was relocating me to row 2, wouldn't that have shown that there is no seat G or H? That would have been a giveaway that there was something wrong. What I think they were trained to is never to admit when they make a mistake. That's the only reason why the CSR suddenly wanted to appease me by moving me to row 2, something they wouldn't do if they really though to knew I made the mistake.

Equipment change is a very common occurrence across all airlines. As far as CSRs, unfortunately, most of them are probably uneducated and can't afford to travel so they would have no concept and unrelatable. That is why they are in a low to no skill type of jobs. Staff at the airport are in a customer facing position therefore most likely more educated and skilled. It is what it is.

I boycotted Cebu Pathetic since 2008 when they did me dirty by cutting me off the queue and telling me I was late when I was already there for a long time waiting patiently for their slow asses. Then they lied to the authorities making me “the bad guy.” Fortunately, the airport police saw through their lies. Then I found out that they talked about me in their company group chat/forum, and described me as someone who wanted “special treatment” when all I wanted was a fair treatment and not be scammed by them.
