Im new to following. But Horses are my life and I am involved with Racehorses in training and retraining for their post race life. I love your videos and love how honest you have been. Heres to 2025.
What a sweet natured horse Max is. He looks beautifully toned up in the rear and quite sure there’s a nice win in him some time soon. Happy Christmas all
Matt as a horse lover a previous owner of a retired and retrained horse I totally understand your connection with Max. I also own greyhounds and live the highs and lows of a race day. Without owners there is no racing and I applaud the messages you are putting out there. All the best for January and fingers crossed Max runs well.
Matt I wish you and Max a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. Regretfully I am unable to offer any advise for your Venture. All I can say is" Hope Max comes home safe and sound from his races".
Happy Christmas max and you to mat brilliant and honest video are you involved in a tipping service its so hard to get a genuine tipping servive nowa days honesty is all i want thanks mat cheers have a great Christmas 🎄
Thank you. Yes we do offer other tipping style services. Best thing to do is , sign up to our free email mailing list. You can do so by visiting here valuerater.co.uk . Thanks for being part of my journey. Happy Christmas 🎅
@ Matt you are on a powerful journey for all of us. A journey of love, learning, ups and downs and never doubt yourself as you are doing a great job. 👏 👏👏
So much want Max to win a race next year for you Matt because you certainly deserve some good fortune..hoping you stick in there and I wish you all the very best.I will continue viewing with avid interest 👍
I don’t know why the RUclips algorithm suggested your videos to me but I love them! I have no interest in being a racehorse owner, even in a syndicate but it’s a great insight into a world I know little about! You make excellent videos. Happy Christmas and a winning New Year!
Love your Honesty Matt,it’s a real roller coaster, but don’t stop the ride mate,Your Boy Max is gonna come good I just know he is,and without passion it ain’t worth doing nothing,Keep up the good work mate 💯😎
Aah thanks so much . I am sure he will. Just caught everyone by surprise. I had him in since end of July so very slow to come top hand this season it would seem!!
@ yea I think he looks quite heavy tbf and noticed his weight has gone up to 545 from 540 last week,I think he’s spoiled rotten cos he’s such a beautiful horse and he seems the apple of everyone’s eye,in his last run he looked very unfit, but I think it’s where you’ve been schooling him over the larger obstacles he probably hasn’t been doing as much speed work as he would of last season,if the weather holds fair I’m sure he will run a much better race next time as Roger would have had plenty of time between races to get him fit,I deffo don’t think he’s lost his appetite for the game, good Luck Matt with all you do,and have a great Christmas mate.
@ thank you so much. Yes I noticed his weight had gone up. He certainly needs more work. He came in end of July so very slow to come to hand. Difficult to know why. Fingers crossed for his next run. Happy Christmas and thanks for being part of my journey. 🎅
Merry Christmas Matt, Max and all the stable members and other 🐎 horses. I love your videos and he looked impressive on the track today. Well today in California watching this. 🎄🏇🎄❤️
Some interesting insights Matt, especially tough having to fund everything as a sole owner. Have you considered running a syndicate to share the costs. I'd imagine the video's, including syndicate members, would be equally as entertaining and enlightening.Enjoy the winter sunshine and good luck in 2025
A happy Christmas and new Year to you and Max . Have you ever thought of entering Max for a 1 mile 6 or 2 mile flat race as there is quite a few of those races on the flat . I don't think Max would like Chester though as that is a very tight course as i use to go the May meeting every year when i lived in Rhyl . As Max is your horse but it is just a suggestion .
Fair play for being so honest. Very rare in this game. Where is the trainer?, not been sighted for a while and I noticed he was not about at Warwick either when Max ran. Seems strange in the height of season??? By the way signed up to some of these tips, best I have seen in the business. Nothing you do not know about racing . Do you go to bed with the formbook ? Much better than the tipping clowns on RUclips and online in general. Happy New Year
I’m in the market for a fun summer flat horse for 2025 & should be attending the January sales with a modest budget, excited for my first venture into racehorse ownership.
Do you think Max is the equine equivalent of the wallop road runner Simon T , as he seems to train well but looks very one paced maybe your magic carrots can be the making of both of them. Merry Xmas and hope you have a successful 25
Can i add my tuppence worth ? I remember years and years ago reading that ownership of a racehorse was a rich mans pastime because many horses are just so and so ability wise and will never be much more, no matter what you do. Its all great to love them and watch them running but its all about the money for others. Sounds a bit gloomy forgive me
Not at all. Really important to discuss the disappointing times in the sport as well as good. I agree largely with what you are saying. It’s not a cheap game and to have a horse with ability you need to pay plenty . The real good ones at the sales are out of most people’s reach but it still gives no guarantee of success . I suppose that’s why people going down the syndicate route as sharing the cost is more manageable. Being a sole owner you are spending at least £25,000 per year . Happy Christmas 🎅
I think you probably are going to have to lower your sights with him. Top rating he had is seasons ago and that if i recall was 128. He has had a tendon injury since and that sort of injury doesn’t improve his performance. Currently given his last run, he is probably rated about 110 i think. Officially i believe last time he ran it was off of 116 but the run offered little encouragement. You would have to accept the proffered explanation that he was not fully fit. That begs the question why he ran! Pretty certain he is better over hurdles than over chase fences as his chase attempts offer little encouragement. There are races for him, he certainly never lacked courage or tenacity as a novice and I suspect he still retains that. He is i feel his own worse enemy as he races too freely in the first half of the race. His original trainer adjusted his race trip from 12 to 10 furlongs, i suspect he did this as he felt he wasn’t getting home over the 12. However it appears with the benefit of historical hindsight that he finds almost absolutely nothing in the crunch end of the race. That makes him extremely difficult to win with but not impossible. Basically it’s either the hood has the desired effect and he settles better or you need a jockey like Leighton Aspell was, he held them together until the final section of the race. Personally I feel dropping him down a grade might be the best option, he is not a small lad so lugging a higher weight shouldn’t be a problem. The key might be once you get him to win again, it lifts his spirits and he rattles off a couple. Being a handicapper he will always get caught by the handicapper eventually: however should he rattle off a couple, you then have the option of moving back up a level. Given age i doubt he has improvement left ( or very little) but that doesn’t mean he can’t win races if stealthily placed.Remember Roman Holiday in the 70’s rattled off 4 on the bounce in handicap chases at the age of 14, Sonny Somers won at the age of 18 and Superman won a couple on the bounce at 16 years of age. Whilst racing has i feel become more abusive for the horses since then as most trainers expect them to run more often ( average 6 races a season in the 70’s) handicaps are still handicaps. In recent years Megalala won at age 14 on the flat, so anything in handicaps is theoretically possible. Good luck and remember that i am not a trainer just a racehorse owner like you. It’s just with almost 50 years of racehorse ownership behind me, I have learnt a few things.Sometimes its the wrong things hence I don’t train them 😂😂😂
@@JackBurton-w7x thanks for your thoughts. I agree he finds little at the end of his races hench why I thought fences would help. I do think he is better than you give him credit for… Forget his form so far this season , bad mistake on chase debut and not fit latest it would seem. He does have something to prove next time. It will all come out in the wash. Happy Christmas 🎅
@ I personally hope he is better than the season suggests. I saw him at Sandown as a four year old, good hurdler but initial impression was he was low flat and fast over them. Thats great for hurdles but often a recipe for disaster over fences. It wouldn’t take a miracle to get him back up to 128 again, not exactly old either.
