    ABOUT | Dr. Smith has over 30 years experience evaluating and treating persons with voice disorders, including those with spasmodic dysphonia. While serving as the Director of the Division of Speech Pathology, University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago, she co-founded the Spasmodic Dysphonia Support Group of Chicago in 1990. She served as its sponsor coordinator for over 10 years. After relocating to Florida, she attended the Ft Myers-Naples SD support group for many years. In addition to being in private practice in Port Charlotte, Florida, specializing in evaluating and treating voice disorders, she is also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of South Florida, Tampa and the 2020 recipient of the Clinical Career Award from the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
