There is no endless supply of people bidding up the price of dolls. There is no endless supply of people bidding up the price of bitcoin. Its been done for ever
Y’all need to read “The Berenstain Bears’ Mad, Mad, Mad Toy Craze”. It’s about Brother and Sister jumping on the “Beary Bubbies” bandwagon. “The only thing you could really do with them is brag about how many you had. And no matter how many you had, there was always somebody who had more.”
Sorry, zoomer here, why did people like these things so much? They look like they’d be sold at the doller tree. I don’t see why so many people were obsessed with these small bears. Were you guys just all bored?
A bit like baseball cards, the really early ones, definitely in good condition. Are worth something. Being so few of them around. But later they kept printing more and more cards and people suddenly ended up with multiple copies of the same card. So it never ended up in a situation that there were too few good ones left and... value through the bottom.
Hoola hoops, pet rocks, pyramid scams and etc. I only got jacked for $1000 on a sub distributorship once, and learned my lesson immediately. My high school friend who is a lawyer never let me forget that he advised me not to invest the $1000. But he's a professional miser, never eats out, goes to a movie, or even buys new clothes, instead buys used clothes at the Salvation Army which of course is clothing from people who died. Mostly drives a scooter or his old Kia car. Constantly complains about spending money on anything.
chistine lane They're essentially worth $6 no matter what... regardless people bought into hype of certain models being a good investment for whatever reason(s) but they are just stuffed animals worth about $6 if in perfect condition with the tag still on the toy

You might like the Berenstain Bears book “The Berenstain Bears’ Mad, Mad, Mad Toy Craze”, which was a pot-shot at the Beanie Baby fad.

chistine lane Because Beanie Babies were a speculative investment (or, in layman's terms, a bubble) in the first place.
