  • This is where Nirvana played there first show. Oh, Alice in Chains played their first show here too. Also Soundgarden. Impressed yet? You should be! This is one of the oldest bars in all of Seattle, and has been serving drinks since 1892. It's located right in Pioneer Square, the oldest section of the city, so if you're looking for something fun to do in Seattle, definitely don't miss this landmark saloon!

moved to seattle in 1980 got a job downtown and discovered the central while exploring pioneer square. good times/great memories. it's a shame to see what's become of that once beautiful city. i moved back to the midwest in "92 and used to imagine going back to visit. maybe in in few years i will go back . am sure the central will be there still.

While this may have been the first venue in Seattle that Nirvana played, it is most certainly NOT where Nirvana played their first show. They were already about a dozen shows deep before playing here.
And what most people seem to conveniently forget, Nirvana weren’t a Seattle band. They were from a two hour drive southwest of there.

The Central is a great bar with a ton of awesome history! It's definitely NOT the closest bar to the stadiums -- but it is right down the street.

Nathaniel Fernandez lucky! Ever heard or seen anything creepy? We’ve heard it’s haunted

@@Bucketlistbars I've heard about it being haunted but I have yet to experience something paranormal. It's a great place! There are dollar bills still stuck on the ceiling from when people used to turn them into stripper darts and throw them. Back when it used to be a biker bar.
