How Andy Goldstein is getting paid to talk about football proves the world is fucked
You never know, Gabby agbonlahor works there too
He's clueless
It’s literally like talking to an idiot for Darren Bent
Hes making perfect sense all the way through. “If they finished second with 90 it’s been an amazing season” - what a load of rubbish, with the same opposition you need to do better than your opponents; that is it. If the bottom of the table implode and lose everything, that doesn’t make Arsenal better.
He is childish and it makes the show very cringe, stopped watching because it's just 1 person so desperately wanting to be right. Pathetic really
Bearing in mind there's one more game...
Won more games than last season,
Lost fewer games than last season,
Scored more goals than last season,
Conceded less goals than last season,
Better GD by +16 than last season,
More points than last season,
Closer to Man City than last season.
That's progression. Simple enough.
Won the same as last season
@@bobsocks7575trophies don’t paint the whole picture and aren’t the only metric for progression. Arsenal were winning FA cups during their banter era. Would you say that team was progressing?
@@bobsocks7575 27 this season, 26 last season!
@@bobsocks7575 so if arsenal came second with say 78 points, and conceeds 55 goals, but won the FA cup, that would be progress instead?
choked with a lead just like last season
Reyes man! Not an Arsenal fan but loved watching him on MOTD back when I was a kid! Amazing player, pleasure to watch. RIP
He was a great player !
change the title to goldstein coming up with an argument for the sake of having an argument
He's the new Adrian Durham.
That’s his job
@paulm1656 doesn't mean the video title cant be changed to fit
@@PGJ0 I agree their titles are misleading more often than not.
But Andy is there to argue with Bent, especially about Arsenal.
Champions League quarter final & closed the gap on City, if that’s not progress please explain when the definition of the word changed. Klopp is supposed to have established some elite mentality at Liverpool & they’ve just bottled the league so not sure how anyone’s laughing at Arsenal right now
The word bottled gets used far to much
I watch alot of team sports. I love football the most (I'm a City fan, and Canadian national team fan). My least favorite thing about football compared to ice hockey, basketball, American football is that the banter + tribalism is just overflowing. Football fans are on a never ending trip of tribalistic bitterness, sprinkled with an overflow of banter. This is why terms like "bottle jobs" are thrown around, it is to get under the skin of certain fanbases. And it doesn't get any more toxic than the Messi vs CR7 arguments between the fanboys.

What a trophy
undoubtedly an all round better team than last season
Yeah true. Another season without a trophy, and City had to wait till the last league game to win the title.
Great progress.
Saka for ljungberg 😮😮 Poor Freddie always gets forgotten
yeah the disrespeck on Freddie's name is wild. Freddie was levels above Saka.
Goldstein is a literal clown… This exchange is a visual example as to why players don’t respect commentators opinions. The context of each season that must be taken into account. These lot who have never played can’t understand the nuance that goes into winning yet want make blanket statements that fit every team. Sport doesn’t work like that.

So as per Goldstein, man utd is an average club, no league titles for 10+ years and not even competing
Arsenal no league titles in 20 odd years!!
@jacklegros6614 since Roman took over, arsenal was never on the level of united or even chelsea.. but Goldstein point was questioning if arsenal made any progression..so what progression has united made?? Or even city??
They are both kinda right. Arsenal are a bit better than last season but the reality is they need to actually win something soon.
I wouldn’t drop Ljunberg for Saka. Not yet see what the future brings.
I loved Freddie but not on the same level.I also think Gilberto was one of the most underrated players to ever play in the league but to pick him over Rice would be insane IMO. And you won't get a bigger fan of the menace than me but the Bergkamp that played in the invincibles side was a diminished version of him. For me it has to go...
Lehmann
White Campbell Saliba Cole
Saka Rice Vieira Pires
Odegaard
Henry
@@RD-zx6py I'd go with the same list, with exception of Lauren for White, cos I don't remember Lauren ever actually making a mistake in an Arsenal shirt. I'd also go with Bergkamp for Odegaard because he still ran games even at 36 years old or whatever he was. Odegaard is fantastic and you could argue is equally as impactful as any Arsenal legends, but I pine for the days of Bergkamp and would pay through the nose to watch him one last time.
@@richardsmith9615 I was a big fan of Lauren but he wasn't as complete a footballer as White.
And I hear you regarding Bergkamp but Invincibles Bergkamp isn't prime Dennis.
I played in a tournament at Emirates Pires was our coach such a nice guy and was so unreal sitting at breakfast in hotel with Pires on our table zola was there as well such a nice guy as well
The arguement is not whether there is progression or not but rather whether the progression has been sufficient given the financial investments in rebuilding the team.
Saka ahead 9f Liungberg makes me question Brent's football IQ
Freddie was a legend, but Saka is brilliant. He never makes the wrong decision and still impacts games despite being doubled and having lumps kicked out of him every week.

yeah that was some peak artetasexual waffling
no thats called "sucess". but the topic now is "progression" so darrent bent is correct. given that both seasons we have gone trophyless, but this year we have more points better defense and made ucl quarter final, it IS a progression
@@tez9394Facts, even without trophies you can see there is progression, winning a trophy is very important but you always want that to happen playing well and Arsenal are playing very well and that is progress.
The question was if you finish second again can you call it progression. So if you finish second and more points, that's progression. It's not rocket science
Goldstein is a absolute weapon.
Clown*
hes not even as good as that.
Or twit.
He’s right though
The question no one seems to ask in our fanbase is what progress have we made since we moved to Emirates from Highbury like we were promised?
The basis for sacking our legend in Arsene was fourth place, FA cup and champions league wasn't good enough for us fans anymore. What is the progress from that Arsene era to these Arteta era. Seriously, I don't understand the vicious circle as progress.
Well, this is a bit of a silly comment. Back then, a bigger stadium was assumed to be the path to commercial growth, competitiveness and success.
Since then, TV money and more importantly, foreign ownership have made that much less significant a factor for success.
And Arsene was ultimately let go because results were getting worse (always hammered by the top boys), finishing 4th was beyond the team, and the whole system needed a refresh…which we are now seeing

When Tottenham was regularly finishing above Arsenal Bent was on here saying "its all about trophies" .... but now Arsenal are finishing about Tottenham Bents here saying "it's not all about trophies.. and he's saying it with his chest.
Typical Benty
The modern football fan is a weirdo. They’re more obsessed with banter rights than bragging rights.
This Andy guy is something else. Ange is very intelligent
Winning that League Cup has been so good for Man U.
Of course arsenal has made huge strides from last season but a 🤡 wouldn't know that and it comes as no suprise that Goldstein would argue about that...
Man Utd haven't won a league title in almost 13 years and he's not looking at that, no he's acting like they're the holders 😂😂😂😂
The best defence in Europe? Wth is bent smoking? Inter milan have conceded 19 and scored 86 goals all season and have a better goal difference than arsenal.
If City beat Westham and win the title, It's very much the point that Arsenal have made progression. They have dipped in form this season but haven't let it affect their points total as much as last season. They've stayed more consistent, and have started to keep strong towards the end. The only part of Arsenal that isn't at the top, is like City going on crazily long winning streaks without interuption.
17 league games this year. Won 15 drawn 1 lost 1.
No matter what im proud of the team and hope there is still a twist to come.
Klopp could've won more if not for Man City. Same is happening to Arsenal.
Its coming down to fine margins which for a neutral should be great.
Prem has been in danger of becoming a one team league for years.
Thank goodness its becoming somewhat interesting again.
Supported Arsenal since i was 9 back in 2002, never knew or wasn't aware of the team winning trophies at that time, i just loved the football they played.
A huge section of the Arsenal fans are deluded and embarrassing at times, just remember we aren't all like that.
Goldstein absolutely rattling benty 😂😂
If everything is about points in terms of progression, there are numerous teams better than the Invincibles. That team got 90 points, Man City has multiple teams better, Chelsea does, Man U does, Liverpool has multiple teams better, and teams that didn't even win the league. This is nonsense from Bent.
It's more to do with nobody in the league being able to defeat them rather than an impressive points total
@@teeone1066 True when specifically looking at the Prem. Should be noted that Man U, Middlesborough, and Chelsea beat them that year
It’s not even five years because we’ve won the FA Cup after maybe two years. And if the priority was to win trophies rather than making the club the best in the world, then we probably be playing like Manchester United
Interesting fact, but Bent doesnt get in either Arsenal team. In fact, he wouldn’t get in any team that has ever won the Premier League
Discounts Brady, O’Leary, Basten, Adams and David seaman.
Short term memories and Darren bent = Dimb.
The stats would say yes. They could still win it. Andy's logic is illogical. Progression is based on the club as well as the competition. There's nothing wrong with finishing second five seasons in a row. the trouble would be trying to find another manager whose only option is to win it. If another manager failed to win it or worse went backwards, that would be a disaster. Arsenal must be in a good place if you are scrapping to find faults.
Bergkamp scored 87 goals in 315 apps playing as a striker for 1 of the best teams in the league he was good but he wasn't anywhere near world class
Yes they have moved even further ahead of united, spurs chelsea and Liverpool
Andy Goldstein speaks so much sense just people are full of excuses 😂 they’re ready not to hear it, ‘it’s not all about winning trophies’ of course it is 😂 arsenal went from celebrating 4th and now they’re celebrating 2nd, even Ole and Mourinho got United to finish 2nd 😂
They’ve made some progress superficially, but I think it’s been a disappointing season for them too. In years Liverpool missed out on the league, we won other trophies to offset the disappointment, like a Champions League or Domestic Double. Arteta prioritised the League and Champions League but might walk away with nothing. He threw away the Carabao Cup campaign, even though it’s a fantastic competition to play kids and get the players in a winning habit.
Any arsenal fans remember Marc overmars? Growing up being im a marc to that was my nickname for the longest time.

I still find it strange how that generation of Arsenal players under achieved so much in the champions league.
I get both sides of the argument and trophies does dictate success more than points accumlated. But context needs to be added here.
As it stands, man city have 115 charges againest them. If they are proven guilty, this could mean that Arsenal could have won the Premier league twice, Liverpool could have won the league multiple more times and even Man utd would have won it as well.
Now, if they are proven innocent, then there is more of a conversation to be had. But challenging againest a team that has potentially cheated, they will have the advantage. That a side. Guardiola is arguably the best manager to have graced the game and will always big a big challenge to overcome for any team/manager.
I think they have progressed, but there's still a bit of fragility about them. 6 points dropped to Villa, the loss to West Ham at home, playing for a draw at Liverpool and City, holding onto a 1-0 lead at United. Title winning teams don't do this. I'm not sure this team are convinced in their own heads that they can/should win it.
well when you have an inexperienced Juilliard performing arts instructor as a manager who's experienced bottling league titles more than winning them, that doubt is sowed implicitly.
Last year City won the title with 89 points and a very similar GD and everyone was salivating about how great they are despite the fact that they did that as obvious cheats and double Arsenal's wage bill.
Loss to Fulham
That obvious cheat? Of course by paying Westham, Forest, Brighton relegatedSouthampton to beat you lol @RD-zx6py
@@GermanChickenwing no, they obviously cheated by assembling a squad that broke FFP rules 115 times. It's why they don't seem to suffer upsets in the second half of the season. They have two first teams and can rotate to keep everyone fresh whilst playing teams running on empty as the season comes to a close.
I think it's really weird how people cheer for state backed cheats like they haven't ruined the premier league.
Arsenal fans saying winning trophies isn’t an important metric because they have won fxck all
Toure has 2 unbeaten seasons as a deffender
Goldstein doesn't know the difference between progression and success
It is about winning trophies. Arsenal has made progression, but no one is winning the league until Pep leaves.
Goldstein says Liverpool and Leicester have won it whilst City have dominated. Let’s clear this up. Liverpool won it once in a decade under Klopp. That’s not taking anything away from Liverpool but just shows what team the rest of the league is up against whilst Leicester won it the year before Pep arrived. Arteta’s been challenging for two seasons, last year was a surprise to everyone, they were probably a year ahead of schedule, so that means Arteta and Arsenal have been genuine title contenders for just one season. Give him a chance, if Arsenal win the league sometime in the next 3 seasons how will it be any different to What Klopp achieved?
that squad tho... Cant believe its been 20yrs today
we've experienced so much pain and suffering since then.
I like these 2 so much. They are just funny
Your up against Pep you cant say they have to win a trophy, Arteta is top 3 managers in the league with Klopp gone. Sacking him would be ridiculous
I do think they improved compared to to last season… I do think they he luck in terms of points last season….but this season there were games that they won.. they would have lost!
and to think it was Aston Villa who most likely cost Arsenal the league title
Goldstein football knowledge you could fit in a marble
Cole, overmars, ljunberg
We literally have more points than last season. That is progression
so if Arsenal win the title with 78 points, is it progression or failure?
Final points tally means nothing if you aren't lifting the league title. That's why the world laughs at artetasexuals -- rubbing themselves off over point tallies that don't result in silverware.
The object is winning games not drawing them. Thats why their points total has been smashed repeatedly
Games were 1000x harder to win back then compared to nowadays that’s why
At the end of the day trophies matter most
So by Goldstein’s logic, Aston Villa have made no progress because they have not won a trophy, even though they finished top 4 this season. If you can’t see that Arsenal have made progression than you shouldn’t be paid to talk about football. Goldstein is borderline on the spectrum with his lack of understanding of simple concepts in football
Where did Villa finish last season? 🤷♂️ It's not rocket science, then again you're a gooner so that's why you're clueless when it comes to anything football related.
So let’s finish 2nd for the next 10 years progression 😅😅😅😅
Arsenal fans acting like they dont use the same trophy logic with spurs 😂
honestly, benty and the rest of the arsenal supporters going on about progression makes them sound like spurs supporters. as a Liverpool supporter when we finished 2nd to man city we were pissed and criticized our team for unecessary dropped pts. you can't be satisfied w/ 2nd if u want to beat this cheating lot.
If you win the league with less than 80 points that means league was 'unbelievable' that year, not the other way around! It means there were more competition, every team were fighting. Every point was a struggle. But of course him being an Arsenal fan... dumb, dumb, dumb.
I'm sorry but it's not progression based on points, if you had no odegard you'd not have won, city lost kdb for 5 months, dias 2 months stones 2 months, halland 5 weeks walker, rodri a month, ederson a month, grealish 2 months and city still look like winning it.
Do Liverpool earning less points but won the title. Than getting 2nd with more points.
Darren is wrong. If you have more points and end in 2nd the league isn’t as good, as having less points and winning. Meaning more teams were good and challenged you and everyone else more
Talksport drive is unbearable. 3 hours of arsenal and manc utd indulgence
Man City’s 100+ points is a greater achievement. You could draw all 38 games and be ‘invincible’ but collecting over 100 points in the premier league is greater achievement
Id keep arteta for the next 20 years regardless
always brings up utd when talking about arsenal. Bent 😟👎
Bent is wrong
Goldstein arguing for the sake of arguing
It's not about winning trophies it's the thoughts that count.
Arsenal football club.
Goldstein is such a melt. You win trophies by winning games. If Arsenal consistently win more games season on season eventually they will win a trophy.
One more league title since 04? When was that???
If Arsenal get 2nd next season but score 82 points, it would be regression... unless they win an FA cup. Goldstein is a bit dizzy coming up with those scenarios.
Yet artetasexuals will perform mental gymnastics the most subtle shades of progress despite each outcome resulting in no silverware. 2nd place is 2nd place, point tally is irrelevant.
Andy Goldstein is such an irritant.

The objective of the sport -- which maybe you forgot since you won no major honours as a player -- is to win silverware. THAT'S IT.
Sadly Andy has just morphed into Adrian Durham the biggest wind up merchant of them all. Principles go out the window and it's just about clickbait and listening figures. Sad.
Isn’t ironic that a guy that wants Ten Haag to stay is talking about progression. Clearly man united have progressed from last season, what an absolute sausage.

Arsenal fans have the same mentality as when under Wenger, they are happy playing pretty football and finishing in the top 4. Not bothered about winning trophies 😂🤦🏻♂️
Artetasexuals** not actual arsenal fans, we are livid and beyond famished for winning silverware. No 'big club' operates this way.. But we know as long as the Juilliard performing arts instructor is still manager, we can kiss that goodbye.
To me when I hear invincible season then I hear they had 12 draws and most of there wins were 1-0.. it’s kinda meh.. Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City have had teams that could go invincible playing for draws but they try and score as much as possible.

@@MH22814 but deep down you know it’s true… the season Liverpool only lost one game and got 90 something point was a better achievement , Man City’s 100 points was a better achievement and Chelsea only conceding 15 goals all season was a better achievement… going out actively playing for draws and 1-0 wins is meh like I said… and deep down you both know I’m right
