On the final days of my North Dakota Birding Road Trip I start "heading" home to Michigan. But on the way I stop to tour the Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore Monuments and tour through Badlands National Park among other things. And it wouldn't be a road trip with out some stops on the way home afterward either! What additional experiences and birds will I encounter? And what's a crane got to do with it? Watch and see!

Great series, totally enjoyed each episode.
We had exactly the same experience in Scenic -- looking for a gas station, without success. This was in 1983, though, and Scenic wasn't (quite) a ghost town yet.
That was awesome footage of the Burrowing Owl in flight! I have never caught them moving more than a short distance.

I really liked your series. Sorry you missed the Mountain Bluebird. The Wildlife Loop at Custer State Park had one on just about every fence post. The Lark Bunting is the bird that keeps eluding me!
I’ve seen Mt Bluebird in the past but was hoping to add it to my trip list!
Great series Curtis! It looks like we need your next travel to be to Utah/Idaho/Washington, Louisiana, or the northeast to fill in that map more!
You got it! They are all states I’ve been to but not as a birder. 50 birds in all 50 states is the goal and I’m sticking to it!
