This is random, but one of the reasons I love watching your videos because you talk like me! I'm from the Illinois side of the Quad Cities and I say "root" (and "roof") the way you do which I have come to find out is not the way people in other parts of the country say it.
Haha, so true!! Regional dialects 😀. I don’t go as far as “crick” and “warsh” as some near me do! My husband says I say hammock and manure strange too 😂
Ive been doing lots of clean up too. Its that time of year. All the spring flowers have died away and need to go. Ive been out of town more this summer than most and it shows. Ugh. Lots of work to keep flower fields looking good.
I have a question!? I have grown or lay after the past two years and it does not get very tall at all! Is there a variety that gets taller stems? I use hay to mulch my beds. If I’m going to turn them over, I just pull out what is there and cover it back up with the hay until I’m going to plant again. I am finding direct seating doesn’t work that well for me. So I tend to start them in trays and put them out when they are pretty small.
My Orlaya that was planted outdoors in late winter was quite short too. The best and tallest was sown last fall in my hoophouse. I’ll be direct sowing outdoors this fall too.
Good video - thanks😊

So true - this is the time when I often feel overwhelmed. Gotta just keep at it.
