Customer complaint of a rattle noise coming from under the vehicle. Transmission? Exhaust? Catalytic Converter?
Check engine light is not on. Ended up being the inside of the driver side catalytic converter crumbling apart, making a ratlle.

Don’t you be upsetting the EPA gods now 😁😁
Signature sound. 😂 nice find ✌
💯💯👍😁
Weird coincidence, the catalytic converters on the 3rd gen F-bodies (Camaro, Firebird) would break up internally and they made a very similar sound.
Guess it's common on Chevrolet?
I thought warranty was 8 year/80k miles by federal EPA for catalytic converters
Either way it has 140k. It's past mileage. Plus it's after market cats that I put on in 2022. Part has a 2 year warranty. And the vehicle was built 2/2016. So there goes the 8 years too.
Just weld it 😂😂
Lol. Just fill the pipe with weld. It'll be fine
That sure made quite the racket. I noticed that the instrument cluster strangely resembles a Ford cluster. I tried putting wiper blades from a Ford on my GMC. The wiper blades worked great but I still had a GMC with all of its problems. When you order the converter from the Chevy dealer you may want to inform them that the Ford style instrument cluster isn't going to transform a Chevy into a reliable vehicle. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.
🤣🤣🤣
the dreaded bouncing honeycomb.will drive you nuts in town with alot of idle time.
Exactly
I absolutely hate it and it gets louder by the week. Just replaced my muffler smh wish I replaced the cat at the same time
Dam costly fix.
No its not. The part was aftermarket and had a two year part warranty. I put it in Nov 2022. So the part was warranted. There is no labor. I don't have customers to charge. It's all internal. These are my fleet vehicles. If it was customer pay then probably I see where your going. I think labor on that is only 1 hour. So if it was at a shop. And the part was warranty still. Then it would be $180-$200 I'm guessing. Your probably didn't know that I don't work for a dealer or a public shop anymore. I'm a fleet manager master mechanic. So everything I touch is internal. No outside customers. It's all company vehicles
140,000 miles... Of course there's no warranty 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly. Part warranty though. 2 year. I put them on in Nov 22. So at least I didn't have to buy more.
Where was it made? in the US or Mexico?
Oreillys aftermarket part. I don't know where they get their stuff. But on the upside it has a two year part warranty. So I didn't have to pay for another one. We will see how long this hot garbage lasts. The reason I didn't go to oem is because they are on backorder st Chevrolet. And they are proud of their parts $$$
Reading half your comments is why I never post anything. Sick tired of people whining that everything should be warrantied on old vehicles with high mileage or Ubers with low mileage trying to get personal use warranty coverage on a commercially used vehicle.
Exactly. And I literally said in the video it's a 2016 (8 years old) with 140k on it. And it's an emergency vehicle. The part is after market with a two year part warranty. I installed them in Nov 2022. The the part was covered from the parts store. I just gave them the old one. Most people don't understand how a warranty works. I appreciate you leaving that comment 💯💯
It must threw a chrome plated muffler bearing 😊
Also that’s why dogs are better than kats
It didn't want to go along for the ride anymore
@@BeardedFordTech ??
@@kingranch8516 the cat. It didn't want to ride anymore
@@BeardedFordTech ah it takes time I’m old
i f you park it downtown. They will remove the cat for you for free.
Where do you think it's parked at night? It's an emergency vehicle
How long are they warranted?
It's aftermarket. I put them on in November of 2022. They are 2 year warranty. So they will be here tomorrow. Factory warranty on 5/60 on emissions. May be 3/36 that's kind of a gray area.
@@BeardedFordTech why the replacement? should of been covered by warranty outlined in federal emissions.
@@christopherhodge6154 it is a part warranty. This vehicle is a 2016 with 140k. It's not covered under any emission warranty. That's long gone. The part is warranty. I put it on in 2022. The part warranty is 2 years
Ahh ok. Thanks for the info and reply
@christopherhodge6154 not a problem.
Kinda ominous
🤷♂️
@@BeardedFordTech I mean if that was a trans or engine noise… yikes
@peterbenson3776 yeah I would be concerned. Under it sounds like the transmission. But it ended up being the cat coming apart
