The chances of me ever cutting a fretboard for frets or binding is pretty much nil - I’m barely a hobbyist modifier (although I did fit a Floyd Rose to a guitar that didn’t come with one, so I’m basically a luthier now), but your knowledge and the way you impart it through your videos is invaluable. I’ve learned a ton over the last couple years watching you and Chris. Plus now and again I get to ask a daft question 😁

Thanks for watching Matt, you never know when you might take the plunge. Of course... you could always join us for a workshop. Then you absolutely do all that stuff.

What make/model/year is your radial arm saw? I built this jig last year but the saw I used could not be made to run square no matter how much you adjusted it. Over time the bearings go bad and these saws will sag.

@@aaronenright8880 personally speaking as a RAS user, i find the older cast iron top saws are much more stable and safer then the later 70s and up models. they cut rather then binding. binding a ras by forcing the feed rate of the cut is what gets you into trouble.the newer saws have to much flex and wiggle room for error...look for MR sawdust videos on setup and RAS table builds! he was the KING of RAS saws.

It would be interesting to see a video when building a Les Paul style neck on the pinrouter, well, or as much as it´s possible to route on a pin router on those necks. Thanks for a great video..

The radial arm saw setup has intrigued me for quite some time. If I had the space to house that setup, I'd for sure move in that direction. 😎

I love this idea. Are you guys basing the neck placement on the slotting template off a predetermined centerline on the metal template.

@@TexasToastGuitars …if the pins were located from the centre line of the jig, not an edge, wouldn’t it still allow you to use both? …unless I’m missing something??? …which wouldn’t be the first time…

@@howardwhitehead5927 The nut locations aren't in the same place. It's kinda like the nut on the 24.75 scale is close to the 24th frets on the 24.625 scale
