Mary Jane is one of my favourite comic book characters ever (behind Peter Parker and Norman Osborn) but I think they made the right call in editing her out because there was already a lot of stuff happening in the movie. Whilst I think that the next actress to play Mary Jane (or whoever the next love interest might be) has a uphill struggle after Stone's excellent performance (seriously she was better than the comics version by a whole lot) I think it was a good idea to let Peter focus on moving on in the next movie with someone else
i know that we have never seen mj with andrew but seeing Gwen’s and his chemistry, it was so powerful and the way he loved her, i just can’t see him loving any one else. So they made a good decision with taking MJ out.

Having Mary Jane is another thing the amazing Spider-Man 3 would’ve probably fixed, alongside the sinister six, peter’s parents, Harry Osborn’s green goblin, rhino, miles morales and just the overall storyline. That’s the main problem with the amazing Spider-Man 2, it’s a decent film but it just relied too much on the arrival of the amazing Spider-Man 3 (which clearly didn’t happen and now we have the confusing amazing Spider-Man 2 we know today
Harry was a terrible character is TASM2. Not a bad actor, but a very bad choice for Harry. The script did not really help either so much. Dane De Haan just sucks as Harry. No offense to him. TASM needed Norman Osborn much more than it needed Harry.
I liked her in Amazing Spiderman 2. Keeping with the storyline in the comics, Gwen had too die. But there's talk of her coming back as Mary Jane in the next movie. She's a great actress, very versatile. I think she could do it. No offense to the actress who was cut from the film.

Marc Webb did a good job on Peter and Gwen love story. I feel he could have done a great job on Peter and Mj love story as well if he was given a third movie with creative freedom. He unfortunately did not get creative freedom on the TASM2, if he did got creative freedom, the movie could have been good. I would have liked to see how a Mj helps broken Peter from Gwen's death like in the comics. This is what happened in the comics, Peter grieves from Gwens death, and then Mj comes and help him move on, and then started a romantic relationship. I feel Marc Webb could have made us like Peter and Mj relationship more than Peter and Gwen, and that sounds insane thinking about that, because Andrew Garfield and Emma stone had a wonderful chemistry in the movie. But that's what happen in the comics, people liked Peter and Mj relationship in the comics more than Peter and Gwen in the comics and I feel Marc Webb would have been trying to do that if he would have gotten a third movie.
It's gonna be a really difficult task since for one there's no set up for MJ as a character in TASM series and for another the viewers is more likely to not have recovered from the grieves of losing Gwen in the previous movie like Peter is. Not to mention that the portrayal of relationship between Peter and Gwen really set up the bar pretty high, and to beat that (or even being an equivalent of that) is a tall order even for Marc Webb. I'm sure he can do a decent job but Gwen was one of the major reasons that made TASM viewers love this series, and replacing her position is just something hard to imagine.

[SPOILERS NO WAY HOME SPOILERS] At the end of the day not having MJ in the ASM movies meant that Peter lost someone very dear to him, Gwen, and was able to relate to Tom-Peter during that roof scene. Wouldn't have been nearly as prolific if Andrew-Peter went "I lost Gwen, well she was my MJ, but then my universes MJ was there as a back-up".
Admittedly, I haven't watched either reboot, so I don't know what direction they're going to go with anything, but I do think cutting MJ out entirely because "there's only room for one girl" in the movie wasn't the best of decisions. Part of MJ's development is due to Gwen Stacy being both her friend and the girl Peter left her for, and her death gave rise to a more mature MJ and helped to strengthen the bonds they had for each other to the point their marriage could survive everything that was thrown at them (until OMD, but we won't talk about that). Without that foundation in place, I feel that MJ's character will fall flat on its face unless there was some SERIOUS character development being woven into the story, like the movie is more about MJ than Spider-Man serious.
I love Shai, but I think Marvel (which I love even more) should stick with the incredible actors and actresses they have now, and not go on to tons of other people. If I had people like RDJ, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Evans, and even Robert Redford, I would be happy with it.

They should release extended cuts of TASM and TASM2 where the deleted scenes (peters father storyline, Curt Connors' Backstory, all the scenes cut out to make quick cuts in the original version, and everything in TASM2 that was cut, including Shailene's scene as MJ.
The Amazing Spider-Man was a badly writen story. By the end of the movie Aunt May is the only person who doesn't know Peter is Spider-Man. And Curt Conners isn't evenwho killed Capt. Stacy in the Comics it was Doctor Octopus. People who write the movies should read the comics.

What made the original comics work was the dynamic of Peter and Gwen, but also how do you deal with Mary Jane? His best friend, future wife, and walking enigma because she is also another one of the people who knows (in secret albeit) who Peter really is and coupled with a horrendous home life, wears a mask of her own to protect herself as much as she can. The notion with Mary Jane was that she was never to replace Gwen, but to give Peter a chance to be human again, and because of that, Peter will always go back to her. If they had focused on THAT, and USED the love story and romance angle that Marc Webb IS known for and the soap opera elements that the original Stan Lee/John Romita Sr. issues that also dealt with these characters did, instantly better movie, even IF you have to give us a new Goblin and a few winks and nods to other rogues. Personally I thought the way they handled the Rhino worked great, but we really didn't need Electro. Much like Spider-Man 3 didn't need Sandman, ASM2 didn't need Electro either. Very arbitrary and redundant.
I collect Marvel films and the second one was a hard one for me to buy when they killed her off. I was excited to have her as Gwen, I just wanted more Gwen. Maybe she could even come back since the villains came back to life in the most recent Spider-Man. I hope her and Shailene as MJ both come back.

I love Shai, but I think Marvel (which I love even more) should stick with the incredible actors and actresses they have now, and not go on to tons of other people. If I had people like RDJ, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Evans, and even Robert Redford, I would be happy with it.

They should release extended cuts of TASM and TASM2 where the deleted scenes (peters father storyline, Curt Connors' Backstory, all the scenes cut out to make quick cuts in the original version, and everything in TASM2 that was cut, including Shailene's scene as MJ.
The Amazing Spider-Man was a badly writen story. By the end of the movie Aunt May is the only person who doesn't know Peter is Spider-Man. And Curt Conners isn't evenwho killed Capt. Stacy in the Comics it was Doctor Octopus. People who write the movies should read the comics.

*headwall* stupid. stupid. STUPID! What made the original comics work was the dynamic of Peter and Gwen, but also how do you deal with Mary Jane? His best friend, future wife, and walking enigma because she is also another one of the people who knows (in secret albeit) who Peter really is and coupled with a horrendous home life, wears a mask of her own to protect herself as much as she can. The notion with Mary Jane was that she was never to replace Gwen, but to give Peter a chance to be human again, and because of that, Peter will always go back to her. If they had focused on THAT, and USED the love story and romance angle that Marc Webb IS known for and the soap opera elements that the original Stan Lee/John Romita Sr. issues that also dealt with these characters did, instantly better movie, even IF you have to give us a new Goblin and a few winks and nods to other rogues. Personally I thought the way they handled the Rhino worked great, but we really didn't need Electro. Much like Spider-Man 3 didn't need Sandman, ASM2 didn't need Electro either. Very arbitrary and redundant.
Can they get Emma Stone into the MCU, somehow?

I collect Marvel films and the second one was a hard one for me to buy when they killed her off. I was excited to have her as Gwen, I just wanted more Gwen. Maybe she could even come back since the villains came back to life in the most recent Spider-Man. I hope her and Shailene as MJ both come back.

And she doesn't, and the Mary Jane scenes were kept in the movie, then a new Mary Jane came among in 3. We would've had 2 different actors for Mary Jane in the 2 different films which would be awkward

Bradley Cude Well everyone knew she wasn't going to live, her death was too big an impact on Peter. Besides, not having Mary in the movie kills the dynamic where Mary and Gwen were huge best friends even though they both loved the same man.

I loved the atmosphere, jokes, the effects, the suits, the actors, everything in this movie, if they mess up with the new reboot i swear i will fucking stop supporting Spiderman's movies, it can't stop being my favorite superhero, but at least i can watch it for free on the internet
