Turn that big ol Lowrance sideways and you’ll probably pick up 1 MPH.
Lol heck ya!
Underated comment... bahahahaha
I have the same exact engine on my 18 foot bass buggy deluxe, and on a good day I pull 20 mph and lots of torque.. half a tank of fuel, normal stuff, but extremely reliable, extremely quiet, non-problematic.. easy to service. Love it!
Thanks for the great video. I have the same, a 2021 175 TXW Tournament Edition with the 75 HP Merc. The numbers you got are the same as I get, but for longevity of the outboard I try to keep the RPMs at 4k to 4.5k, and cruise around 30- 33 MPH. Anyone wanting a great solid boat that's tournament capable, this is a great option.
I get 42mph on my 2014 Pro Team 175tf with the 75hp Optimax by myself with the factory prop. Good video!
Have a 2017 175 TXW w/75 horse power Mercury 4-stroke. Got 41.8 miles per hour (gps) with black max prop; service tech recommended a 17 pitch spit fire for better handling and hole shot. Although the WOT is 5000 to 5500, my service technicians also recommended running between 4800 and 5000 rpm for extended high performance life. By boat will hit 40 with the spit fire, but I usually run 30 to 32 mile per hour unless I want to get out of a storm. Take care of your engine and it will take care of you--maximum speed means maximum wear and tear.
Good to hear, thanks John!
Thanks for the video about to upgrade to this same setup or possibly the 60hp. Dad had a lowe with the 60hp super quiet and reliable like an old honda 300 fourtrax 😂
I have an old 95 Astro Glass boat with a tired original Merc 75. Still runs great and converted to add oil to gas. 13 x 19 Black Max. Got 35mph and now with lithiums 37.
Not bad for a 75hp with a full tank. I was by myself with 6.5 gallons left and was able to pull 49.9mph with my Ranger RT188P with three batteries, gear and 8mph winds, so 38.5mph is good
Looking foward to testing my new 2022 Mercury 75 on my old 1989 16.3 pro Fisherman Mirrocraft this spring. My 50hp two stoke finally kicked the bucket and I love the boat, so I figured let's max it out and go new.
Man that’s nice, 4 stroke power and a HP upgrade!! 🚀
Update to my comment.. my 75 pushes my 16.5 mirrocraft at the same speed as yours. My old 50 two stroke got ne to 26mph. What an upgrade..@BentRodBassin
just ordered one today (depends on final number for the 170 trade we will see) looks like a nice smooth riding boat can't wait to try it. the 170 will do about 35 max with the 50 hp for anyone whos wondering it is WOT at about 5900 rpm looks like these run slower (rpm wise)
That's the boat I'm wanting. Thank you for this on the water review. I've been wondering how fast the boat is with a 75 on it. Great video!
It’s a great boat!
Yes very great boat.
That is very cool my friend
2015 1650 Fish hawk loaded down 2 people yamaha 5hp kicker has a stainless spitfire x7 4 blade prop. 5200 rpm gps speed 36 wot. Mec spec for rpm 4500 to 5500. The 2.1 L is a beast, and the 75, 90 and 115 all have the same bore and stroke. It's amazing that with the right prop, she will turn 6000 rpm.
Just seen this because a buddy of mine just made this purchase with the 75. Great video brother! Just my observation from you trim gauge if it is correct, you had a lot more trim to give it. I appeared to be less than 1/4 trim. I do know it is about feel versus gauges, but I think you could get another 5 with proper trim. Regardless, thank you for taking the time and money to make this video sir.
I appreciate it!
Absolutely sir!

Easy to tow, easy to store, affordable to insure, affordable price by current standards, and fuel efficient. It’s really all you need to get your groove on.
Love that Merc,❤
I have the tracker SC-175 pro guide deep V, with the 90 hp mercury. On a flat day with a full load of gear, with me (190 pounds) my son (315 pounds) we can just hit 40 mph…. Not sure if there are any upgrades to gain any speed or not.
I'm getting 46 on speedometer and 44.2 gps once trimmed up on bone stock 75hp 2020 175 tracker with just me and some gear/anchors in it.
Very nice! Got a good strong motor!
I get almost 40 mph with a Evinrude 2 stroke 70 with 2 people and gear. B.T. TX Tournament 17.
I have an old TX17 tournament that I swapped a 75hp 4cyl Mariner 2 stroke onto and it does 40-42 and I’m still under propped lol. Could probably hit 50 with the right prop and weight distribution
yeah great test I just got the 175 TE and rather than the 75 I put twin 250’s and it moves pretty good now but kinda weights the back down a little don’t cha know oh n btw, I put the 75 I had on the bow n use that as the trolling motor 😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💥
Wait and see what we put on the new kayaks! 😂😂😂
Looks like you could trim it up alot more to me.. my 60hp I trim to about the halfway mark and right to about it starts slipping, then trim down a hair.
I also added the trim tabs and I plane a lot faster and can trim it out a lot higher.
My merc pro XS won’t let me trim up more than 1/4 on plane.. trying to fix that today. But I agree with your comment 100%
I agree..I also have the 60.trim about half way like you said,I'm getting 38 out of it with a 4 blade fully loaded with gear..But I never need more than a 1/4 tank of gas
I’m new to boating I ended up with a ranger rt 178 with a merc 60 I’m wondering how you got that rpm info on your phone? Cool video man love that boat.
Got the Mercury VesselView App and Plug-in device that connects to the engine, great too to track hours and maintenance!
What's the gauge inside the tach?
I have a 2014 loaded down with a ton of gear. 2 people in the boat with the 60 hp and stock prop and will run 35-36 mph.
My 2019 175 TXW with the same 75 hp motor, with me, 3/4 tank of gas, 3 batteries and full fishing gear hit 43 mph (gps verified). You need to new prop to get the last couple of MPH.
Good to know, have any prop suggestions?
I am running the 3 blade stainless steel Vengeance 18° pitch prop
@@jonashamrah2428 thanks dude!!
@@BentRodBassin you’re welcome. I have mixed decisions about a hydrofoil.......
@@BentRodBassin get a stainless Powertech nrs3 in the same pitch as your black max. You can get it for about 300 shipped..if you want to spend a little more get a 4 blade spitfire for a better hole shot and handling or a laser 2 for best top end..I had the same motor as you on a ranger rt178..I sold it and now have a phoenix 721 pro xp. I'm sure you make that leap once you get to that point when your boat is no longer enough for you...the good news is they hold their value really well and sell really fast as there is always a demand for them.
2010 175 TXW 90hp Optimax, 6" Vance jack plate, 22" pitch cupped laser 2 prop I can hit 45 MPH by myself and 43-44 with 3 people and all the gear. I also have 3 batteries and a power pole in the back.
Wish they would’ve given the 90 option!!!
It's crazy what weight does to the performance of a motor. Loaded up with full gear and just myself in mine In my Classic XL and my 60HP conversion on a 6" Vance jack plate I'm hitting 43.7 MPH (when I'm lucky) with a 15p Vengeance prop and seeing tons of blowout on turns. With my 4 blade Trophy Sport I'm hitting 42 MPH consistent loaded up with 3 batteries and 15 to 16 gallons of fuel and my 60lb Terrova. The performance all around is worlds better on the 4 blade.
I literally just signed the same boat today. Curious how you like the ram mount for your console graph? I’m having them mount a 12” Garmin off the console instead.
It’s legit!
The Lawrence is a sail!
That’s for real! Wind blocker lol
Off topic question. How do you keep your motor from turning to the side when trailering? I have the same steering mechanism and am stumped on a way to keep it from falling to one side. Do you secure it with something or just rely on the transom saver?
It stays in place, if your motor has any sway it’s likely due to the hydraulic slipping.
@@BentRodBassin I'll have to get that checked. Thanks for the quick reply. Awesome boat!
If a few more mph top end is what you are looking for, try a jack plate.
Not necessarily for height, but for set back.
Moving the motor back moves the boat's center of gravity rearward, allowing more lift.
In other words, it allows you to get more of the boat out of the water.
You can also try moving some of your load toward the rear of the boat.
But from the way your spray looks, you got it set up about right.
I believe operating range is 5000-5800 rpm, so you need to drop a couple inches of pitch on that prop if you're looking for more top end speed.
I think it is 4500 to 5500 operational range, this would be for the 75 hp only.
Pretty sure it’s 6k max rev I run mine 6200 sometimes 😂
@@steveo201 you won't run it very long like that
It's harder on an engine to lug it than run it max rpms. Pull out in a manual transmission vehicle in 3rd gear everything and see how long it lasts then.
yep pushing mine to 5850 rpm with the blk max lol we dont live ever ! eat some water .
I’m looking at a 2012 bass tracker pro edition 175 with 75 Mercury Optimax on it. What’s a good price there is some cosmetic with the paint and the speedometer does not work. New carpet and Driver and passenger seat have been redone. I do not know much about pricing other than what you find on the Internet any help would be useful thank you.
Engine hours are important, I’d guess under $10k depending on condition.
18-19,000-$20k
i get 5850 rpm all day with my Black Max ! the sweet spot !
If you had to do it again it all again would you still have bought this particular boat or something different just curious?and is it big enough for 2 men say about 250 a piece?
If I had the garage length, I’d have went bigger. Maybe check out Avid boats, they are wider and come with a 90hp
How much did you pay for your boat?Boat, motor, trailer. Was thinking about getting the exact same set up. It’s sweet!!! Also,do you know the package weight on that particular set up? Thanks
In 2019 I paid a tad over 20k with the 60hp..price varies depending on the upgrades you choose..mine was in stock & I took it as is..
Tracker jacked the price up by like 10k since covid started 😅
How is the boat in bigger water? I see its not the deep v. I have a super guide with the deep v and it can handle pretty good in big waves. I am looking to buy this boat and am using it on the flats on the gulf. Its in the bays
It’s like a semi deep v compared to a traditional bass boat hull.
How did you translate engine rpm and speed to your iPhone? Thank you ))
Thru the VesselView App 👍
I literally just pick my 2024 up, only been out for short test run,
What app was that on your phone
It was the Mercury Vessel View app.
Will this boat take on rough water like lake Erie or lake st Clair or even rivers
It’s very possible in the rear, it does sit a bit low on the back, maybe a 5” above water level.
hey dude i just bought my self the tournament edition going to pick up Saturday with the 75 what is the app that u were talking about is it something you add on your phone and what does it do
It’s the Mercury VesselView app, it does require the plugin module to work though. Keeps track of all crucial information like service intervals and engine hours/maintenance. 👍
@@BentRodBassin thanks again i just picked my boat up on saturday and installed the vesselview went real easy gotta get it registered and hoping to get on the water this weekend and give it a whirl
@@sethbabb1305 sweet!!!
Does the stock trolling motor work good enough for this boat ?
I’d go for the 70 or 80lb trolling motor for the extra power. It really helps in the wind or with 2 people on the boat.
Suzuki says run theirs from 5200rpms and up to 6000 on my new 2022 Suzuki 30.
I have a 1999 ProTeam 185 with tracker marine 90hp and am lucky to hit 37mph with just me in the boat.
My buddy has the same setup, average is about 35 🤙
Exact boat I'm thinking of getting! How is the fuel economy and how do you like the boat so far?
Does great on gas, I think the tank is a 22 gal. If I could change anything, I would have got a MinnKota Ultrex 80lb for the spot lock, other than that worth it for my budget.
@@BentRodBassin Thanks for replying!
@@adamw6271 👍👍
Adam, these boats sip on gas if your using them for solely fishing. But this model loves to cruise around 28mph to 32mph.
As mentioned, upgrade the trolling motor to an Ultrex with Spot Lock for sure!
@@jonashamrah2428 Thanks for the info! I am so close to pulling the trigger and getting one!
I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my motor. That's what get on my 115pro XS on a 18 ft
Fiberglass?
@@BentRodBassin no, aluminum
I’d guess pitch is off, or motor transom height might need adjustment.
@@BentRodBassin it seems people with similar boat size and motor are running 19 pitch prop. I got a 19p lazer 2 and it still ran same speed and my wot rpm only hit around 4800 which is below what Mercury recommended.
You need a prop, my rpm's are in the 5700-5800 rpm range.
I got 175 with 60hp mercury 4 stroke rated 75 hp maximum hp 60 or ok on small lakes
I have the 2021 Pro 170 with Mercury 50. Stock prop running 6000 RPM I get 35 MPH.
same - looking at the 175 now
Is your ability to trim up restricted on plane? I have a Merc pro XS that automatically trims me down the faster I go. Kills my top speed potential
It’s all manual but I think the stock prop can’t grab enough to get on top a bit better.
@@BentRodBassin I hear ya with the prop grab. Just think I should still be able to rooster tail if I wanted to but it won’t let me
Might be something with the transom height that the engine is installed at.
How fast should I go with a 60 horse Mercury 2 stroke on a bass Tracker 17ft
Depends some people say are hitting close to 40, my buddy does about 32 give or take on a 17ft G3.
@@BentRodBassin should I look into a better prop
@@johnpacitti74 depending on the max rpm of the current prop, you could possibly go into stainless with a different pitch for increase speed. The max RPM and current RPM would be the determining factor if that would help or not.
@@BentRodBassin I have stainless now but my tachs broke so I will fix tac to see if I can go with a bigger pitch
My 2023 175txw w/ 75hp bone stock. First time out on the water with myself, wife, full tank of fuel, we got 41mph (gps and vessel view) we were turning 5300 +/- RPM
I'd try a 4 blade Fury stainless prop with 2 or 3 degrees more pitch🌻
How many pounds of battery do you carry?
Batteries are 200lbs for the 3
How do you like your motor im about to buy a new 2022 75hp motor
It’s great, hitting 90 hours on it, no issues at all.
@Bent Rod Bassin sweet that's good to hear I'm buying it Thursday I was having 2nd thoughts
@@finleystips2201 go for it, solid rig!
i just orded the tf 175 with 60 what will it run
I believe it pushes about 30 mph.
I have the TF with the 60 and have hit 34 on lake, 36 on a river going with the current/wind
I run 36 mph with half tank and a passenger with my 60 HP.
My 60 h.p evinrude ranger r /t 178 goes 34 not sure its worth the extra money for 75h.p and gas usage to go 5 mph faster.Same load full tank, tackle. Just my opinion
Why does that matter?
I have the same rig and have to say that your hull must be clean as a whistle and you are as light as a jockey. I have the same rig and with best of water conditions am happy to get over 33mpg. My gutless Mercury never gets over 4500 rpms though and i have tried every prop pitch both 3 and 4 blade. Slow boat.
Probably your grey fuel lines collapsed happend to me thought mine was slow too my 60 now hits 33

That’s on gps?
U need to go down a few pitches. You should be able to turn 6k rpm

Fastest I ever got my 2016 with the 75hp was 42 and that was bone stock with stock junk Black Max prop. Then I made it heavy with an Ultrex, 3rd battery, too much tackle, etc. Power Tech nrs3 in 17p works great on this setup with much improved grip and lift over the stock junk aluminum prop. It will usually hit 40 and sometimes 41 if the stars align right but usually cruise at 4000rpm and 28-30mph for fuel economy and less strain on the engine.
What size prop?
Stock blackmax 17p 13.75”
My old jon boat 60 hp evinrude goes 37 mph rated 40 hp I got 60 hp took decal off
I get 31 mph at about 5800 RPM on a 60 hp running a 14p spitfire.
How are you liking that spitfire prop?
@@BentRodBassin It will yank you out of the water. I took my hydrofoil off today, and I couldn’t believe how fast I got on plane. The hydrofoil killed the hole shot. It did help with trimming up. I couldn’t trim up as much without the hydrofoil.
@@clearwaterfishing interesting, good to know!
Reason I'm getting a xpress. H18 with max of 115 sho and will do 55mph or get the X18 with a 150 and do 60. Mid to high 30's is just not enough for me
Definitely go with the bigger motor, don’t do the 115, not enough power for the weight ratio.
@@BentRodBassin the H18 max is 115. Guys are getting mid 50's mph out of it which is pretty good for a aluminum 18ft boat.
That’s not bad for the extra $15k, would save me a minute or two, getting from spot to spot.
@@BentRodBassin the H18 xpress is only $28-29k. Not much more then the 17ft tracker with a 75. The H17 xpress is $26k and comes with a 90. Plus you get seadeck and a all around better build. 94" beam, thicker aluminum. I had a tracker and they are base at best. Cheaply made

@@jonathonvince3605 yeah I know especially when my 21 gallon gas tank is full
It’s always been like that the 75 to the 90 hp about 3 or 4 mph for 2500.00 bucks difference.
hmm with my 2020 tohatsu 50 i can get 31-32. thats with a chipped prop and a dent the size of a basketball under my hull.
Lol
@@BentRodBassin im curious the difference in speed if i buy a 75. or if it would be worth it
I stay incorrect it definitely I think the max RPM is 5500
Ur pitched wrong. It should be around 6000 wot
That is correct. 5800 to 6000 is optimal, get a stainless in a lower pitch and you should be in the money.
5000-5500 is the recommended RPM for the 75hp 4 stroke.
Stainless Steel propeller 40 is easy!
You need a 150 hp on there
Slow slow needs 115 optimax 2 stroke mercury with jack plate take off decals put on do little
Lol that’s what’s up
Put a 21p stainless on it you'll get 42
Yeah then your gas’s mileage drops and if you hit something your more prone to destroying your lower unit cuz stainless is way stronger
Don't they use soft nuts to keep broken repairs to a minimum?
then i shouldn't feel bad if it can only hit 38 miles with a 75hp. I hit 36 close to 38 with a 60 hp. Mine is a 2021 for 23k same lenght just more spacious inside to move and customized the way i want not like trackers. Its funny how people just follow the crowd but don't look no further out. its your 30k lol not mine
So what did u get instead?
Your RP m's look really really low bud did I see 5400 on your RPM you should be up around 6000 RPM At WOT. I could be wrong
So its only getting 5 mph faster than a 50 hp motor. That's disappointing.
50 hp can reach 33-35.
I would have at least thought 75 hp could get 50mph.
Flat water is not good for highest speeds.
Interesting 🤔
Say whatever you want, but you are lugging that engine below 5500 rpm. That's harder on an engine than running within the max wot rpm.
Sorry you bought a tracker
Went To the Tracker Boat center in Shakopee. Mn. to look at a used boat. It was crap so I looked at a new boat. They emailed me a quote including taxes and all fees along with a credit app. I filled out the app online overnight and went to the dealer at 8am when they open. They said the price went up overnight $1,505.00. They don't want to honor their own written quote that's less than 24 hours old. Then at 5pm I get a call and email saying...OOOOPs. Its the 2022's that went up in price not the 2021's. still want the boat? UMMMMMMMMMMM.
That’s sucks! I heard all boats are going up 1,000$ every year for the next 5
