I never knew how good curls could look. All the time up until high school I thought straight hair was the only way to look nice, but thankfully I have learned especially with Chelli. It’s been like 3 years since I straightened it 💕💕💕 Shout out to all the latinas out there!!! Even though I’m Cuban not Dominican we all relate in many ways 🇨🇺
I officiallt started my natural journey in 2018 and the first brand I used was Aussie moist 3x for conditioner and Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie 🤣 then I started to combine the smoothie with eco gel the castor oil one! My curls were poppin! I remember watching you in the beginning and the fact that we're both Dominican made it even more motivating for me 🤗🙌🏽
I’d been natural for almost 2yrs so I’m still a baby in this & still learning everyday! But watching videos by influencers like you has made this transition so easy! I feel like the hardest part for me is actually loving my hair for what it is.. CURLY! Growing up in a Dominican family, from a very young age you we’re taught that straight hair is the “best” hair & that curly (pajon) hair was for women that didn’t take care of themselves, you let yourself go, te descuidada! I’m almost 40yrs & I’m starting this journey in loving & caring for my hair & accepting my hair for what it is vs what society says what beautiful hair is! Thank you so much for your videos I love them all!
It was so nice of you to shout out Alba. She changed the game for a lot of us naturals. So great to see you keeping up the curly girl movement Chillis. Love your content 💕. Love your reviews!! 💕 All the best!!
Yesssss Shea Moisture is my OG very first products was the curl milk, n then the smoothie… that smell is everything. Sunkiss Alba was the very 1st person I learned how to do a hair routine… this brings me back, way back 🤣😂 I want to revisit these products again but the way my product junkie ness is, it will be awhile…. TFS ✨✨✨✨
Curl enhancing smoothie was my jam when I first became natural. I’ve been natural for about 10 years now. I will definitely revisit this method. I love your defined curls!
Omg I just busted out the curl enhancing smoothie on my last wash day & I was obsessed with my results! I don’t even know why I stopped using it. Probably because I like to try new things but this will always be my go to when I need my hair to act right. Sunkiss Alba was the reason I transitioned too 😭
I think the first brands I tried were Carol’s Daughter and Kinky Curly! 💕 I loved Sunkiss Alba too! She was my favorite. Her and Shamless Maya! And omg I don’t care about shrinkage either!! I just want DEFINITION!💕💕💕 Also they just came out with a gel for that Shea moisture collection.
I was obsessed with the Maui Moisture hair butter and Janes Carters : Curls n Go Elongateing Gel . When i first started transitioning, it was actually by accident and laziness. I was in my 3rd year of college and just didnt have the time to straighten my hair. I would sweat it out or have a greasy scalp in like 2 days. With the amount of exams and travel i was doing ( especially in nyc ) my hair was just not having it and i found my self straightening it every other day just to keep it pin straight. The Maui moisuture hair butter was a 2 in 1: mask, & leave-in conditioner. So affordable and it was convienent also because i just happen to work at a beauty supply at the time 😂, so i got my hands on alot of goodies. I was obsessed with acheiveing the " braid out" look because it made it look like i had some type of curl. My hair was soooo dead that i thought my best hair pattern would only be 2b-2c 😭 ( no offense, i was born with 3b-3c ). When my real curl patterns finally started appearing, it was very difficult to deal with because some parts of my hair were cute and others just dead. Thats when i feel in love with the Elongateing gel, it just made any patterns in my hair look healthy and moisturized in the meantime. 2019-2022 3 years strong ❤️👌🏼
When I first started my curly hair journey was 2018 and the first brand was Cantu , Shea moisture as well but Cantu was my go to . Cantu still always leave me with guaranteed poppin curls no matter what
@@cutiepie0355 I believe in the last few months ,they have rolled out new products & the ingredients were switched. I seen a couple videos on it. I appreciate it so much 😊. I hope that’s true so more people can enjoy it
An oldie but goodie! You can never go wrong with Shea moisture my favorite. You're hair look marvelous 😍 keep up the fantastic job in helping us find what works best in our hair. I love it! Thanks for sharing!😘 God bless
I have been heat free for 5 years and my first product was the shea moisture curl smoothie also and you were my first curly girl video that inspired me to go curly. Wish I went curly early in my twenties!!! My hair would load as fabulous as yours. You rock!!!
I started transitioning 1 year ago and the first products I used was Cantu. They worked for a while but then stopped. Now I started watching your videos and I'm buying new products to tryout.
Yes, Shea Moisture (Curl enhancing smoothie & Gel soufflé) was one of the first things I used when I was a teen experimenting with my curly hair. ETA: I didn’t not receive my first relaxer till I was 14 or 15( my dad didn’t want me getting one) I went natural again at 25. I honestly didn’t mean to go natural at first. I just kept delaying the time for me to go get a touch up. Next thing I know it’s been a year lol. I was watching the Glam Twins (they are from Alabama & so am I) I was like hmmm well I was natural up until age 15 & it’s been a yr since I’ve had a perm so I can do it again lol 4 almost 5 yrs later here am I curls still popping.
It’s really crazy how much damage we did just by wanting straight hair. I remember getting my first keratin at 8 from my mom and repeated it like 3 times after. In reality curls are so unique and beautiful. I hope you have a great curly journey 💕💕💕💕
In 2017 I decided to go natural. My first product was miss Jessie’s could custard. I have trying to give Shea mistype smoothie a another chance. So far the products I mix it with flakes. You have inspired me yet again. Thank you so much!
Started curly journey after losing my hair to chemo in 2020. It came back so curly. I started with shea moisture. Still use the smoothe about half of the time. Also loving cocoblack naturals made in Ghana and it’s so good. 😊
I started 6 years ago. I started with Cantu and Shea moisture. And I’m still having trouble upkeeping my hair. I’m just not consistent as I was back then lol I also never knew I had curly hair cause of all of the straightening! BTW you were actually my inspiration to start my journey 😊😊💖
Shea Moisture was the first one for me as well. The same one you are using. I loved how my hair looked. Always been natural but never really knew how to take care of my hair until I starting watching how you did yours. So thank you for your tutorials on doing curly hair
I started in 2018. I remember using Shea moisture, camille rose gel, Asiam, cantu vinegar shampoo for the scalp and eco styler gel the jamaican castro oil was my fav but now I like the argon oil.
I’ve been natural my whole life but my hair got severely damaged when I was in middle school/early high school. I’ve been caring about my hair for about 6 years now and my first products were Shea moisture’s manuka honey shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner and the Cantu leave in and curling cream
OMG! Yesssssss! The Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie was my go to! I started my natural hair journey about 7 years ago! That product was the only product that I used, I honestly didn’t know what else to use! Jasmine Brown was who I followed back then and she put me on to using different products, then I started finding more RUclipsrs like you! Thanks for this I definitely need to try the curl smoothie again! ❤️😊
Yes! SM Coconut & Hibiscus line was the first brand I purchased. The curl enhancing smoothie and curl & style milk were my favs. I big chopped in January of 2016. Stopped getting relaxers in late 2015, and that's when I discovered the natural hair community on RUclips. Some of the type 4 naturals I started out watching no longer make content. The natural hair RUclipsr Naptural85 and her journey is what inspired me to do a big chop.
Been natural since 2014 and Shea Moisture with Eco Styler has been my day 1. I still use that combo today. I do like to experiment with other products but that OG combo is still a go to.
Beautiful results! 😊 I got this again about a month ago too and was like...why did I stop using this? It's actually the BEST! I like their Glam Curl product too. It has hold so it's a one product wash n go type of styler 😊
My hair has always been natural, BUT, no one I live with knows how to "handle" my hair if you will. My pap is a black man and both my grandmothers have curly hair but none of them have been able to help me with my hair. I used to hate it but now I'm embracing it because it's beautiful, so I'm taking the time to learn about it.
I couldn’t use the curl smoothie back then wayy to heavy for my hair - that was back in 2013! but I love it now ! Use it all the time w/ their defining gel ❤️
Thank you Franchelli, always enjoyed watching your results. Your hair is beautiful. I have been natural for more than 5 years.. My transition products were Miss Jessie’s, but was not satisfied with my results. Then I was all over the place using so many different products and watching too many influencers. However, I do remember when I used the curl enhancing smoothie I did get good results. Now, my hair have gone through so many stages in texture change that I only use Alikay natural oil, my hair is completely straight and short, so waiting for my curls to come back in⭐️
Thanks for sharing your time. When I became natural was in Dec 2015 and I was using Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie & Mixed Chicks products; leave in with eco gel and I always love, love those results💕🧞♀️. Today I mix products that my hair loves and gives great results and use diy hair mask 🤗.
I have been natural for 16+ years and don't plan on ever relaxing my hair again. My first products were Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus line and Kinky Curly. I have recently purchased more Shea Moisture products from their Jamaican Black Castor Oil line to use. I currently use their protein conditioner from their Manuka Honey and Yogurt line and recently bought the shampoo from the Extra Virgin Coconut line (based on your recommendation). 😊 Your hair results are fabulous! I see that BJ's wholesale store is selling this smoothing cream for $13.99. Will probably be revisiting this Dhea Moisture cream along with the Kinky Curley products.
My O.G products are mixed chicks, Miss Jessie's Pillow soft curls. I've been natural all my life. I would go back and forth between straight hair and curly hair. I haven't straightened my hair in years! My daughter loves the curl enhancing smoothie
Hair is GIVEN 😍😍 I can’t remember exactly what products I started out with but shea moisture definitely helped me A LOT through my transition days !! Great video !!
Shea moisture was also my holy grail! My sister found Alba’s channel for me…she has super straight hair and mine is the exact opposite so I was sooo happy when she found her channel and helped me start learning about curly hair. Helped me fall in love with my natural hair, which I hated growing up. It’s also been a while since I’ve used the curling enhancing smoothie…definitely going to have to go back to it haha!
Eco styler gel is my staple. I can try other products with it but have to have it. I use Eco styler and Herbal Essences Curl Boosting Mousse and its a win for this combo. I am African American with 3c/4a hair.
I've been rocking my curls since I was 12 and my mom introduced me to Luster's Pink Oil Moisturizer (pink stuff) lol. As I got older I started to love Shea moisturizer products and I want to try the Maui products soon. My go-to is using Garnier leave in treatment with As I Am curling jelly.
I am with you! Pink lotion was my go to in high school, late 90s too! I would use that and LA looks gel or mousse on my hair and air dry. Now my hair routine is more involved and I buy so many products. I bought lusters pink oil recently but haven't used it. I almost want to break it out and style my hair like I did in high school and see what happens.
It's been like 5 years since I started my natural hair journey. When I started it was curls unleashed for me and kera care. I revisited my kera care routine last week, but it was too heavy and my hair dried out very quickly, like day 3. So now i' 'm exploring eco gel and shea moisture 😄 The timing could not have been better for me. 😂 Thank you! 💕
I’ve been natural since January 2014 (I can’t believe it’s been 8 years already!). I can’t remember exactly what brands I used during my first year of transitioning. I want to say I started with As I Am, Cantu and TGIN. I mostly did braid outs and didn’t get into wash n gos until about 2016. Shea Moisture was never a go to for me. The few times I tried it, my hair didn’t love it.
She’s Moisture is THE OG! I have not used that in years though 😝. I have been using one product for a year and it has not failed me. It’s the Doux Mousse Def. It has gone through every season with me and it’s fabulous ♥️
Still love this line and gel! But I've been natural since the late 90s and was using Herbal Essence and local beauty supply products. I then moved on to Dove products, then Herbal Essence Hello Hydration, and for the longest I used Cantu products before settling with Shea Moisture. Now I'm in love with Mielle and Camille Rose products.
Girl you was one of the reason I went natural in 2020 and ur Dominican like me I use Shea moisture,Aussie and Cantu OG eco gel for sure and not your mothers collection curl talk love ❤️ my hair
For me the JBCO Shea moisture line was my OG… changed the game for me when transitioning! 🙌🏽🥰❤️ 5 years natural for me! Wow what a ride it’s been. Went from Shea moisture to Curlsmith 😂❤️
Yeah Shea moisture is one of the 1st products I used and that worked for me and I still use till this day... The curl cream you are using. And also I jumped on the herbal essences train, the blue conditioner but I haven't used that in years. I kinda miss that smell and wanna go buy some lol
Thanks for this OG vid, will revisist my stash too! Fist I used Diva Curl, but noticed it dried out my hair. Then switched to Shea Moisture and some products to heavey for my medium 3b curls. I then switched to Curl Keeper (excellent products), then bounce Curl (excellent products) , Girls with Curls ( OK products) Curl Smith (some products good eg in shower style fixer)..now using CHI and Boucleme..💝
Your hair always comes out so beautiful. I always wanted to get the shear moisture smoothie to see the results l get , I'm gonna get it this week. Whe I started wearing my hair curly, I started with biolage products and I used to use the paul Mitchell mouse. Now I use eco gel with the argan oil.
I've been nature for 3yrs now (since 2018). The products that I used when I did my big chop were the original Cantu line and the several Shea Moisture wash day products but i did not know what I was doing or how to use natural hair products. Like didn't learn how to properly use styling products until i found Mz Bianca Renee and I didn't learn how to use styling product for my hair type until I found you. I swear I binge watched a lot of your videos when I first subscribed to your channel. Side note: I found that the curl enhancing smoothie pairs wells with Dippy Doo Gel
I’ve been officially natural (wearing my hair curly) for 3 years and I started with Kinky Curly products!🔥 & Eco gel has always been my go to for my edges since. Lol this was such a fun video to watch! 🥰
I've never tried this smoothie product but I know everyone has used it! I want to try this!!! I've used eco styler gel back in the day now im more of curlsmith. Cantu used to be an OG with eco gel, that was my start of my journey about 5 yrs ago! Now I think I get alot of buildup with Cantu and don't use them but I might have to try this smoothie
Awww i was just thinking about the curl enhancing smoothie the other day and what a staple that was my my high porosity hair. I also went natural about 7-8 hrs ago and Shea moisture was THE moment then for me, I remember that deva curl products were quite difficult to obtain in the UK and also pretty pricey. Devacurl decadence conditioner was awesome though, shame the brand is not longer what we know today. Shea moisture deep conditioners were literally my religion loved reading the names the claims and the ingredients xx
3 years now since I started my transitioning with of course Shea Moisture products. Works so well for me and now am trying Cantu will see if the result will be awesome on long term🤷🏽♀️
Went natural summer 2015, same year that my friend did as well. She and I have been bread and butter ever since! I remember being en la galeria in DR watching Sunkissed Alba and feeling everything you did. I decided that when I got back home I would start my journey. I used the Eden curl defining creme and a herbal essence mousse. Embracing my curls was the best decision ever, God made them poppin and I took forever to notice.
Kinky curly was the first brand and been natural for ten years these products with the Afghan oil eco styler were my first wash n go I did on RUclips too lol
I used shad moisture at the start and my hair has grown a lot but I only used their cream that was the only product I used so idrk how my hair is long now but I’m glad it is
Yo traté de usar Shea Moisture, pero mi pelo siempre se sentía pesado, no suave. Nunca lo use con gel. Voy a tratar otra vez. Al principio y todavía uso WEN. Vi mucho a SunkissAlba (Alba), Gypsyinthecity (Ada) y Risas rizos (Rocio)
Wow! This takes me back! The first product I used was the Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I started watching Sun Kiss Alba as well because I wanted to watch someone I could relate to that looked like me. It then in turn wound up suggesting you and I started following you on IG and on here. ☺️
I went natural in October 2017, so soon 5 years ago. Also my first OG brand is SheaMoisture. I live in Norway so we haven´t had that much to choose between until recently. Right now I love the Briogeo shampoo and mask, I´m thinking of trying the coconut and hibiscus line again as well. i actuallyy started with c & h curling jelly, and jamacan black castor oil shampoo, mask, and leave-in.
I started my transition back in 2019 and I first got introduced to Cantù and let me tell you it did not work for me at all!! Lol! I don’t know if Shea moisture still popping today but I love their hydrate and repair protein treatment 🤍
I’m that person always watching, liking and waiting for your uploads but I never comment lol but you were my inspiration to transition. It’s been 3 years now and I transitioned with not your mothers and deva curl (which I don’t use anymore🤭) loveee your channel🥰
I used to use Shea Moisture wHen I lived in New Jersey and New York back in 2013! I now live in San Francisco Californa and I 3 ingredients as my staple products. Are you planning to do a what you use now video?
I went natural a little bit more than a year ago. When the pandemic started. The first brand I bought was African Pride Moisture Miracle and still love that collection 😍
OMG I STARTED MY CURLY JOURNEY WITH SUNKISSED ALBA FOR THE SAME REASON TOO! I never really used heat on my hair, I just threw it in a bun or wore it out with the og ampro black gel (my friends would hug me in highschool with my wet hair and always got GOT with the stains on their shirts from it 😬🤣).
Shea moisture, ouidad and devacurl were my OG transition products! It’s been two years since I officially transitioned. I haven’t used those products in the longest time so watching this video made me super nostalgic. I might have to revisit it myself :)
I've always been natural (except a 1 month period where I tried to straighten my hair, which did some damage, but not too much luckily) and my mum always just used oils and hot oil treatments for my hair. I used to hate it because it was... Oily😅. I hated it getting on my hands, so when I started doing my hair by myself I stopped using oils and just did twists without any product. I practically never had my hair out of twists (except when I was a baby cause my hair was so short) because I hated it getting in my face and getting in the way. Recently, for the past year or 2 I've been experimenting with products and I've just managed to find a routine that gives me practically no frizz. Technically, the first *product* I found was ecostyler when it first came out, but I didn't know how to use it so I never really tried it again. (I think I was about 9). Now my routine is: Prepoo with coconut oil Detangle in the shower (Shampoo if needed) Deep condition for 30min Rinse Brush leave in through Brush curl cream through Finger coil Glaze gel over with praying hands Then I'll usually air dry
I discovered shea moisture long after going curly again 8 years ago since in Europe they are harder to find but I tried the raw shea and jbco masks and the jbco is the best one I tried. A brand I got into and that I love is Lola cosmetics, which is amazing and super cheap comparted to shea moisture here and also is vegan and uses either sugarcane, glass or cardboard packages for their products
Hiii I really loveeee your results😍, you look so amazingggg. I have a question, which Eco styler gels do not flake ? Cause I always get so many flakes when I style my hair with a leave in or cream and then brush it with some Eco styler gel😭it ruins the whole wash and go but I just can't deal without gel since it holds my hair so much longer than if I only use a leave in with a moose. I also tried scrunshing the gel in i stead of brushing it with the leave ins but that also does not last longer than 2 to 3 days. So I figured to ask about which Eco styler to use that would not cause any flakes or just not a lot of flakes in general.

Your hair results are fabulous!
Yes Shea Moisture all the way! First product I used going natural in 2014 and still using til this day. 💁🏽♀️💖👩🏽🦱✨
I started my natural journey in 2018 and my first product was the curl enhancing smoothie! I absolutely love one product wash and gos!
Hair is GIVEN 😍😍 I can’t remember exactly what products I started out with but shea moisture definitely helped me A LOT through my transition days !! Great video !!
Shea moisture is my OG hairline and still use it to this day! Love the curl enhancing smoothie 😩😩😩
Definitely an OG for sure curl enhancing smoothie was my fav 😍😍😍
I've been rocking my curls since I was 12 and my mom introduced me to Luster's
Pink Oil Moisturizer (pink stuff) lol.
So now i' 'm exploring eco gel and shea moisture 😄
The timing could not have been better for me. 😂
Thank you! 💕
I returned to my natural hair 19 years ago. My first products used were from Shea Moisture's Coconut & Hibiscus and the Raw Shea Butter lines.
Yessss shea moisture and sunkissalba are what got me to transition to curly hair too!
This was so nostalgic! I remember that video so clearly 😅
right!! I can't believe it!
I’ve been natural for 7yrs now and of course Shea was and is a brand I always go for. Also Kinky Kurly leave in.
For me the JBCO Shea moisture line was my OG… changed the game for me when transitioning! 🙌🏽🥰❤️ 5 years natural for me! Wow what a ride it’s been. Went from Shea moisture to Curlsmith 😂❤️
OMG yes!! That leave in was everything!!!
Seriously the exact for me
I love your hair results! I love the define curls!
This is such a walk down memory lane!! This was the first combo that gave me a good wash n go whilst transitioning!!
Hello lovie, Design Essential, and Shae Moisture has been and still my go to. I been going all natural for about 3 plus years now
Yeah Shea moisture is one of the 1st products I used and that worked for me and I still use till this day...
Your hair always comes out so
beautiful.
I've been wearing my hair curly since 2020 and my first ever curly hair products that I used was from Aunt Jackie's ❤.
Girl i still use this combination...but on you it look bomb😍😍😍i want to try with the argan oil one😉😉😉
I’ve been officially natural (wearing my hair curly) for 3 years and I started with Kinky Curly products!🔥 & Eco gel has always been my go to for my edges since. Lol this was such a fun video to watch! 🥰
Omg kinky curly!!! Yesss another OG
yassss 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 just seeing your curls and your videos motivates me more and more to go natural
Beautiful as always 😍
Btw, you're makeup looks amazing, especially the lip color 🤩
Embracing my curls was the best decision ever, God made them poppin and I took forever to notice.
yesssss!!! 🙌🏽
I first became natural New Year’s Eve of 2006 going into 2007 😭 15 YRS WHAT. Shea moisture is definitely an OG and cantu!
Yess! Shea moisture was my holy grail! Today…not so much 😂but at first it was. 5 years natural!☺️
I started my transition back in 2019 and I first got introduced to Cantù and let me tell you it did not work for me at all!! Lol! I don’t know if Shea moisture still popping today but I love their hydrate and repair protein treatment 🤍
can 100% relate to going natural after seeing Alba’s videos. Love these results!
yess! she's amazing
Still use the shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie, it’s the only thing that gives me moisture and defines my curls.
Try a combo with Eden bodywork curling crème!! I love that product
I’m that person always watching, liking and waiting for your uploads but I never comment lol but you were my inspiration to transition. It’s been 3 years now and I transitioned with not your mothers and deva curl (which I don’t use anymore🤭) loveee your channel🥰
Its going to be 6 years in May going natural for me and yes! Its Shea Moisture for me, and still use it! 😍🥰
Herbal essences mousses have always work for me and smells amazing
I started in 2017 but the first product I used was Marc Anthony curl cream. I actually have never used shea moistures curl cream.
I used to use Shea Moisture wHen I lived in New Jersey and New York back in 2013! I now live in San Francisco Californa and I 3 ingredients as my staple products. Are you planning to do a what you use now video?
Stopped using heat in 2013 and definitely started with Shea Moisture!
They’re definitely the OGs 💪🏽💪🏽
Love the video ! Can you link the video for the wet plop ?
I went natural a little bit more than a year ago. When the pandemic started. The first brand I bought was African Pride Moisture Miracle and still love that collection 😍
I need to explore more of African pride! What's your favorite product from their line?
@@chelliscurls Honestly I love the whole collection.. but the preshampoo it's soo good, and the shampoo & conditioner are very moisturizing👍👍
Yesss omg how fun!!!
Shea Moisture is LIFE.
Now my routine is:
Prepoo with coconut oil
Detangle in the shower
(Shampoo if needed)
Deep condition for 30min
Rinse
Brush leave in through
Brush curl cream through
Finger coil
Glaze gel over with praying hands
Then I'll usually air dry
I discovered shea moisture long after going curly again 8 years ago since in Europe they are harder to find but I tried the raw shea and jbco masks and the jbco is the best one I tried. A brand I got into and that I love is Lola cosmetics, which is amazing and super cheap comparted to shea moisture here and also is vegan and uses either sugarcane, glass or cardboard packages for their products
Love this product 😍😍 wished we got the big one here in SA.
im so glad that you posted this on my birthday
Happy birthday!!! 🤎🤎🤎
I think it was 5 yrs ago and the first brand was the Shea Moisturizer coconut and hibiscus line. I loved the smell and how moist my hair was
It was my very first curly hair product. Then Jane carter and garner fructise leave in cream
Started to become natural curly hair in 2014 and on during the half big chop started in 2016 in 6 years!
