Thank you to all who were able to join us at Leica Store Miami on Friday, February 16th to commemorate the opening of Eva Woolridge’s exhibition, In These Hands: A Black Birth-workers Project.
Eva’s photo series takes you behind the scenes of her upcoming documentary. The film is created by a team of Black, queer women who are attempting to archive the history and influence of Black birth-workers in the United States. Award winning photographer Eva Woolridge, trained oral historian Brittany Brock, and filmmaker Safiyah Chiniere travelled across the U.S. interviewing Black midwives, doulas, mothers, and academics to archive the journey in keeping holistic traditions alive despite the institutional restrictions of their practices.
