When you have the text about slurry wall construction, you are actually driving through the Dewey Square Tunnel which was cut and cover construction. That section was built in 1959 and rehabilitated during the Big Dig. The tunnel that you hit at 4:43 is CANA northbound.
Yep and that is the original northbound side of the Dewey Square tunnel. The original southbound side now serves as collector lanes for exit 20B to Mass Pike West/Albany St. and the Congress St. entrance to 93 South and Mass Pike West.
Great video. The Big Dig Tunnel reminds me of the Cross City Tunnel in Sydney NSW, and the Tobin bridge is similar to the Anzac Bridge connecting the Sydney CBD with the Inner West. Greetings from New Zealand.
Excellent work! too bad you had a foggy night where the northbound view of the skyline was blocked but the effect of the fog looked pretty cool on camera just the same, nice call on the Dire Straits too, Big Thumbs up!
I dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Grayson Aydin i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Not sure what your’re referring to when you say a “spiral tunnel”. There was a spiral of elevated roads where Storrow Drive, I93 and the Tobin Bridge intersected near the Boston Garden over the Charles. I have no recollection of a spiral tunnel anywhere in Boston, unless it predates my living there in 1981.
Bump? I don’t remember any bumps and I’ve driven it hundreds of times when I’m back and forth from NYC. Let me as ask my Taxi driver cousin if she thinks it’s “bumpy”, she’s been driving in Boston for 60 years. Should we have shut the city down and replaced the central artery?
There use to use be a spiral like tunnel in Boston. Cant remember if it was on 93 or not. Anyone familiar with the freeways before the big dig, feel free to chime in. Please leave a like so I know you left a comment
First time I drove through the Tip O'Neill in '03 I was amazed. Bumpy? Yes but still remarkable. The old tunnel was congested and dirty. All fumes because they didn't have fans. The elevated freeway was terrible.
Let’s be accurate, its more like 15 billion, and the effect on the city and their health and sanity was well worth after all. Not that this is a paradigm we would want any project to follow as far as how the money was used. Let’s face it, it’s a massive feat of engineering and it needed to be done.
Also, Bostonians are not any ruder than New Yorkers are. We're about the same. Some of us are rude, some are not. Actually, we have 2 towns that are known for being the safest neighborhoods in the world. Newton and Milton. Affluent neighborhoods where children are raised up very proper, but at the same time, not snooty. Hell, if you follow the news, there have been some very racist acts by both whites and blacks in NYC. Something that you don't see in Boston.
"Tip O'Neil" tunnel? Nice tunnel but they named it after one of the biggest crooks in American political history. I guess it's appropriate when you consider the tunnel was 650% over budget 🤣
The big dig is a piece of shit. I drive through it for work and it's bumpy as shit. Not something you'd expect from a brand new tunnel that cost billions of dollars.
After all the horror stories I heard about the Big Dig's construction, it's amazing it looks so good! Thanks!
Boston is easily the best looking city in the nation. I loved being there. I'm a proud New Yorker, but have to admit the "feel" of Boston is amazing
I’ve never been to Boston. I sure want to visit there.😎
@@maureenjohnson5151 you need to visit sometime. It is an amazing city. It feels very much like a European city in some parts.
Bought my south Boston condo in '99 for 99000 and they said I was crazy, just sold it for 1.2 million.....thanks big dig
Yes it is
@UCEm8oSs3BWnaD4JUyUo6DmQ Holy shit that’s amazing to hear man…. congrats and fuck you hahahha
I didn't expect to enjoy this so much! Thanks for the upload!
That was pretty cool, moved out of Boston right before this all opened and it was my first trip through town with Big Dig complete. Memories.
Hi! The Music is "Tunnel of Love" by Dire Straits. Perfect Fit!
5:20
the zakim bridge looks really good
Nice work! This project is very similar to Madrid's "Calle 30" project where they put a portion of their inner beltway underground.
Is that the road along the Manzanares? I like the way it has a direct bus ramp connecting to the terminal at Principe pio
Very nice! The night footage is awesome.
Great work...as usual!

Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Prince Caden Glad I could help =)
Thanks for the upload.
Wouawww... Déjà ' 8 ans ' , comme le temps passe vite ! C'est toute qu' une construction !?!! Mais c'est vraiment de toute beauté ! 😎👍
Awesome video! We live in nh, and every time I go through that tunnel I end up missing my exit and getting stuck in hell traffic 🤣
Awesome video! That bridge (and city) has mighty beautiful colors.
The color of the wall tile also indicates when your underground or underwater.
This was a nice video. Thank you for sharing.😎
Great Music Choice!
Very nice. I miss driving in the US!
Good Job!
you ruptured my ear drums instantaneously!
nice music

great video
What Happened 2 TED WILLIAMS Tunnel?
Good job!!! Song fits tho travel
Fits
I LOVE Knophler's voice
AGREED on the "cool road" comment; the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore also is cool (I prefer it to the Harbor Tunnel Freeway).
Why Boston is so similar to Sao Paulo? :O

From what I gather after watching this video, the ride in the new tunnel seems really bumpy. I guess some things never change.
I'll take it compared to what it was before.
Dire Straits - fitting. (I'm not a resident of Boston or greater Boston; my cousin is, however.)
love it
BOSTON BOUND!
There ya gooooo
They should've done this on 94 in Saint Paul
Please what's the name of this Music From 00:11 to 00:33
Ahmed Elnaggar it’s just the first part of Dire Straits Tunnel of Love. It’s all one song
You've never been to either cities huh?
Nostalgia
Hopefully drivers in Boston are not as bad
as many have long claimed.
why start with too loud horrible digital computer music?
22 billion dollars for a road tunnel and an ugly park, that's daylight robbery. Where did the money actually go?

Lmao they are fuckin snoody alright
Massachusetts kids from posh towns are snooty brats raised by soccer moms
I miss Boston :(
Marussia B2
Great video! Um you forgot Interstate 90 But, that's fine.
CHeck out the freeways in Japan Tokyo area they are very impressive, in my opinion much more impressive then this.
Looks life nfs lol
