It has been done, but hitting the wall brings you to a stop, losing momentum and can cause unpredictable bouncing. You can be disqualified if it looks like you may damage the maze. There is no rule against it. I look forward to seeing your entry using this technique at our next contest.
@@MicroMouse me too😅hehehe. That's a good explanation, even knowing "biological" mice would pull themselves that way. Maybe that's different with wheels in front of legs, or maybe some day it will be possible with robot mice, with wheels or legs.

Why don't any of them use walls for changing direction, or grip? They could have lateral tires for this.
