Incredibly rewarding bringing a functioning project to completion. I don't think I've done one project without some minor mistake along the way. It only adds to your wheelhouse of knowledge. I love your videos!
This channel should have soooooo many more subscribers. The quality of the content, editing etc. is just great and it’s really fun to watch… I really hope it’s going to take off soon!
"Oh... Son of a guuunn!!" so you are actually human!! lol, I love it - you are awesome! Mahalo nui-NUI loa for the respect that you have and for sharing your knowledge! too good!!
I've been there with the tight fit.. Make sure to cut "male" parts first and always dry-fit them to the "female" parts before you remove them from the table. If too tight just adjust (typically increase) your offsets before thinking your done with the Origin.. dry-fit again until perfection.
I actually laughed out loud in my office when the "Ominous Foreshadowing" chyron popped up! Having miscalculated on more than one wood working project, I had a decent idea of what was to come! 😂 Another fantastic project video and a beautifully designed piece that will no doubt last you a lifetime!! Given its proximity to splashing liquids will you be coating it with polyurethane sealer or shellac?
I was both dismayed and happy to have caught so many mistakes on video 😂. I debated sealing the wood - but then I ran out of time 😅 Perhaps next weekend?
That's a great video and totally supports my idea that *any* workshop would benefit from an Origin ... BTW: what font did you use for the "THE SLIP MUST FLOW" sign?
I ♥️ my Origin! I’m always thinking of ways to improve the studio, and the Origin always seems to be a part of it 😄 I can’t recall the name of the font, but I know I got it from this site: www.onelinefonts.com
@@vantikistudio Cool, thanks! (BTW: I am a chair maker by trade but after a few decades in a corporate environment, I "semi-retired" and first bought a kiln ... and then a Shaper Origin!)
Nice work but you need to come back to Hawaii to remind yourself what “old and corroded” really means. The original motor mount looked pretty good to me.
Ha! You never saw the motor mount - the bracket you see me bolting on was mostly ok, but the actual powder coated mount had to be pryed off with a crowbar and totally disintegrated into a pile of rust flakes 😂
So I have recently taken on the honor of spearheading a new tiki bar concept in Clearwater Beach, FL, and during my research of tiki mugs it spoke to my artistic side and I fell in LOVE and then I found your page! But I have one question that I haven't seen you touch on. Your "Van Tiki" stamp found on the bottom of your mugs! Is this something detailed each mug? Or do you have a "stamp" that you press? Thank you for the amazing insight so far!
As you can see, we've mounted the nuclear rockets and we're ready for a really simple craft project that will brown out the electrical grid for three states...on a Saturday! Loved all of it. Mahalo.
@@vantikistudio That's funny. I sometimes feel the lure of a shaper origin. But then again it's a bit expensive for what I'll be using it for. Also, never underestimate the more classical techniques compared to CNC. CNC is a lot of setup and preparation, hardly worth the effort if you make but one piece. The shaper origin is probaly somewhere in between, being able to do the setup intuitively and on the fly.
I got it direct from Shaper - the team there uses it and loves it so I figured I’d give it a go - it works great! www.shapertools.com/en-us/store/product/double-sided-tape

Thank you! Yeah - even with all the little errors it was very satisfying to get the mount finished and find out it works so well
Stellar Navigation Tuesday!

It was. It really was awesome!
Have never made mugs, but love tiki and you always bring a bit of joy to the day when you bring us a new, fun, creative video. Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching!
Always informative as you are entertaining 😁 Such beautiful work!!!!

Great project, thank you for sharing.

Yay!!!!! New video!!!!!!
Thank you for watching!
That’s very clever, I enjoyed this episode very much. 🇦🇺
Thanks for watching! 🤙
How strange that you just posted this. I was in the woodworking store this morning and was looking at one of these. What an absolute game changer!
It is a crazy tool indeed!
Question on what you use for your type on the bottoms of your cups ? How all that is set up would be a great video too, thanks
I like to keep that part of the process a mystery 🤫

"self-employed, weekends working". You are so right! lol
I feel like it’s the part of self employment that rarely gets talked about 😄
2:42 - Imagine going back in time and trying to explain to someone how you have to wait for your router to boot up. LOL
Right?! 😂
6:32 - I'm self employed as well. Weekend? What is this concept you speak of, sir? :)
I’ve heard legends of weekends… but rarely have I seen one with my own eyes 😂

😂 ha! Yeah, this one escalated quickly
I'm pretty sure the choice of CNC wasn't in your advantage for this project. But what the heck, you sure seemed to have fun.
I do sometimes long for a gantry type CNC - but I just don’t have the space in my studio that one would need
