I have a combination of OM-1 II and 90mm with Godox V860III with AK diffuser... Every day I regret not being able to be out and take pictures... when I have to be at work. The lens is simply divine and so are your photos... wish I had the time and could even come close to your results... I follow you on Instagram and I'm always amazed!
I have nearly the same gear except is original OM1 and only home made diffuser so far. Also, not enough time to play with it! Did you start with home made before the AK? How did you settle on AK vs cygnus vs KR diffuser?
because MOST of the macro photographers set up everything at home, just to know :) photography brand is full of lies, you think you would earn a full salary making 100% honest movies and content? there are people who recommend one brand, and on daily uses another, others set up photos and play around shorts and reels like it was on the outdoor session content needs to be going that's all mater, not viewers and honesty! :)
@@michael-mvtdthe newest AK diffuser now folds flat and is easy to transport. It is a brilliant diffuser that provides more light at lower flash settings than the cyg tech. Also it has a couple more features standard that the other diffusers do not. It is also the cheapest option.
Hi Jamie, have you eperience with the MC Concerter. My Set up is the same as yours, and i think about to buy thie converter specially for photographing Springtails with Flash and Diffusor.
For years I shot my macro with the MPE-65mm on my Canon gear. The MPE is an awesome lens with up to 5x but lacks auto focus and focus to infinity. Switching to the Om-1 and the 90mm was the best move I've made for my maco, it's a phenomenal combo. I've been surprised by how little I notice any diffusion even up to F13.
Using the 90mm with the MC20 works just fine in the field, even at 4x magnification. Camera on a bean bag and it‘s no issue at all, fully handheld works, but it‘s much more difficult.
With TC you always lose quality, they magnify the aberrations of the master lens (TC1.4 magnifies the aberrations 2 times; the 2x magnifies them 4 times. Macro + tc 2x is not worth it) On the other hand, achromatic close up lenses (like Raynox, Canon 500D, nikon 5T and6T, etc) reduce your effective focal length, therefore they don't multiply the aberrations of the main lens, the amount of final aberrations only depend on the quality of the close up lens itself. In addition, as it shortens the effective focal length of your lens, you don't lose light.
@@PaulsWestHave you ever seen the Sony 90 macro? same focal length, Very similar switch layout, autofocus or manual , similarly placed and operating manual/autofocus sliding clutch (I believed this was a “unique” feature of the Sony lens) they just lost the 2.8 in the translation. Just my opinion of course, after all, OM systems obviously have the resources to design such a lens from the ground up? Just like the did with the OM System 150-600 which is clearly a re-engineered Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports optic
@@ppac5903This is my last comment on this. Yes I have seen both lenses. Do yourself a favour and google the optical lens designs for the two. Totally different. Sony 1:1 and 2.8. OM 2:1 & 3.5. The clutch system is on most Olympus/ OM lenses for the past 10 years, not Sony specific. Have a nice evening.

I can never get images like at 0:50, what's the secret? Was that shot with teleconverter?

This lens impresses me. It seems much sharper than the 60mm. And compared to macro lenses I've used on Nikon, fuji, and Canon bodies - it's a step up.

what do you mean 'on a bean bag' - just starting to research field macro stuff
Do you still use the raynox while using the 2:1 magnification on the 90mm?
No. But I have a video coming out soon showing me using the Raynox while at 2x magnification
Hey, is it really 2.5 times magnification on the 60mm with the raynox 250? I heard it should be around 1.65 times magnification
I think it is 1.65. I must have miscalculated 😂

I have 2 catfaced spiders outside my place, and I'd love to get a clear photo of them.
It should be good, Isn’t it a copy of the Sony 90mm macro ported to m43?
The only similarity between this and the Sony lens is the 90mm focal length. 😂😂😂😂

I owned a Sony 90mm f2.8 for a couple of years and currently own an OM Systems 90mm f3.5 macro. They are completely different lenses.
@@ppac5903 the clutch is a thing on nearly all Olympus pro grade lenses.
