- South Africa’s new Government of National Unity has grown to 10 parties - and more parties could still join. In this interview on the latest developments, United Independent Movement (UIM) President Neil de Beer says: “what is though going to murky the water and what will put more blood in the street is that now you have to accommodate it because the invitation was given as an open invitation and that invitation’s window is closing slowly but surely and I think the last cats are trying to get into this house before the thunder comes down”. De Beer looks at the impact this will have on the position of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the GNU, and dissects the argument between Helen Zille and African National Congress (ANC) SG Fikile Mbablula over the interpretation of the agreement signed by the two parties. He warns that the stability of the GNU is under much pressure - and warns that unless President Cyril Ramaphosa announces his Cabinet within the next 48 to 72 hours, “the matters that are now boiling up, the threats, the innuendos is going to cause everlasting damage on the way of the Government of National Unity forward”. De Beer also gives his opinion on the racism scandals that have hit the DA with two of its new MPs, Renaldo Gouws - who has already been suspended - and Ian Cameron in the line of fire.

Either the ANC are unable to learn from their collective incompetence, or they are desperate to introduce as many splinters as they can to dilute the impact of the DA. I suspect the latter.

Call it what you like, It CAN only be better than what we had and debates in Parliment and Nothing will be past unless all parties involved in the GNU agree so why worry. There will always be critics no matter who ever gets a position, but the difference is they will be held to account by the members of the GNU whereas before ANC dominated eveything.

The most important question Mr de Beer asked was "Can I add Value?". That should be the question every one of us should ask ourselves, before criticizing anybody. "Judge not, lest ye be judged". Politicians should have that tattoo on their foreheads. At 78, my future is mostly behind me, but I hope this works for the sake of my children and grandchildren. People need to reconcile with the possibility that the DA was outplayed by the ANC. I don't doubt that Helen is intelligent, but she may have underestimated the ANC on this one or she was blinded by the possibility of the DA getting a shot at governing the country, albeit undeserved.
South Africa's problems and the major impediment to the GNU is Tribalism and Factionalism.

The DA does not have to rush to the Deputy Presidency. The steady 14:29 further fracturing of the ANC over the next few years will resign the Deputy Presidency to the DA at SA’s next election, if not the Presidency.
Sorry to say this, but this is the closest the DA will ever come to governing the country. There will be no deputy presidency for them in the future.

😢 I am going to start this post with a very popular quote from a '90s early 2000s afrikaans drama..."mense wat dink hulle is smart, is nie so altyd donners smart nie" I for one is deeply disappointed in myself that I had very high hopes for you when I was 1st introduced to you during the MCP, but then the mor😂 airtime you got the more you have proved to me, you not that guy I thought...no 1 I had to forced myself not to comment on last weeks vid, but this vid just confirmed my thought 💯 that I have never seen a man trying to get up the DA's skirt as hard as what you are doing so in essence you also just playing a long game for your own need to get to power, but the only thing is you choosing to do it via the DA & you admitting it in this vid. No 2 now people can call me manh things, but being unreasonable wouldn't be one of it, so I forced myself to listen to what your views will be on the racism issue, & there you proven to me that you cannot form your own opinion to make a fair statement to not cross fire at the DA & keeping urself in good standing with them.
