    I'd love to see a review between this, sigma 60-600 and the Tamron 150-500mm.

    • @jeroenvdw
      @jeroenvdw Месяц назад

      I owned the Tamron 150-500mm and on the A7RV it wasn't very sharp. The 60-600 is about the same if not slightly sharper and the new Sigma 500mm 5.6 is razor sharp. I guess it comes down to which camera you're using as well, if you use an A7III then all of those lenses will be perfectly sharp. Higher mp camera's are way more demanding.

    Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this one for testing. Currently, the only option for telephoto in my collection is an old Quantaray 70-300 for f-mount that I have adapted with a Viltrox speed booster to my a6700. It's not horrible, but neither would I call it particularly good. I shot some slow-mo video of hummingbirds with it and loaded it into the same timeline as some footage I shot of the same birds with the 70-200 GM2 I had rented and it was really an unfair comparison. So I suppose it's time for me to finally pull the trigger on a competent telephoto.

      What is crazy is that the Sigma 60-600 hovers around the same f-stop, gives you far more versatility and is $1,000 cheaper. I'd pass on that 500mm just because of that. BTW, I also love my 200-600 Sony. Very sharp on my A7R3 42mp Sony camera. There are so many alternatives to choose from, getting harder and harder as Tamron and Sigma have picked up their game.

    I currently use the Tamron 150-500 with my Sony A7RIV. I would like more reach and ability to add Sony 1.4X TC. Unfortunately the Sigma 500mm f5.6 will not be able to utilize a TC and probably never will due to Sony's rules on 3rd party TCs. So, I will likely be upgrading to the Sony 200-600.

      @@MarkBennettCameraCrisis One thing I believe you mentioned was that shooting an a6700 is about the same as shooting an FF and cropping the photo.
      On a rare night, I shoot the moon in its best position, straight up, with both the a6700 and A7R3. When I blow up the moon taken with the R3, and compare the two, there is virtually no difference in sharpness. There may be when shooting with the A7R5, but atmospheric interference takes a toll on the image.
      I think the a6700 is the greater teleconverter out there. Heck, if you want to be cheap, get the a6100, even used, for close to the cost of a teleconverter. I never cared for them as there is some degrading of image and a loss of a lot of light. A used a6000 at Audorama goes for $336. KEH also has cheap older aps-c Sony bodies that are cheaper than the teleconverter.
