I had the same criticisms of this team ahead of the season I had in 2022. No depth, makes them a paper tiger. They can be VERY scary to opponents, but if things go wrong, they don't have the pieces to put it back together. I do think they're in a better position than 2022, but they are still a season or two away from being the team they need to be and I don't have confidence in the leadership to build that team. A LOT rides on signing Soto long term. We burned down a lot of our depth to get him. We need him to attract other players to want to be here, sometimes at a pay cut versus other teams. And we need to make a deep run to get him to want to come back. Everything is there to make it happen. Love the new 1st base kid. But I don't know if they can do what they need to do.
Not at all. This feels like a replica of that team with automatic outs all over the lineup. Except this time LeMahieu, Rizzo, and Trevino are completely washed.
Too many "automatic" caliber outs on this team - same problem they've had since 2019, really. Even their version of their "ideal" healthy lineup is extremely flawed - too many dudes who stink. Period. Not enough resources or front office guts to fix the problems.
They have had enough resources to fix some or most of the problems over the last couple of seasons but cashman is a prospect hugger . And now they are paying the price for it
@@CodyGi yes he is out now but that was recent it’ll be interesting to see how outclassed we get in these upcoming games without him. I’ve been telling people even when he doesn’t hit the fear and attention he evokes in the opposing pitcher is immeasurable. Hope he can come back soon ! He was on pace for 100+ RBI’s with 35+ home runs
There's something about Trent I like. He's had some homeruns in big moments (remember the close loss in Milwaukee) and I think he will hit more when he's playing close to everyday. I know his numbers are tough but he looks like Lando Calrissian
I either need the bottom half of the lineup to get their shit together or a trade for one or two BIG bats, I’m not talking about a JD Davis who may or may not be good I mean someone who can actually put some fear into opponents cuz right now there’s maybe 4-5 dudes max who pitchers even have to pay attention to
The Martian injury low key kind of killed this season. We knew we would need him sometime. With a Stanton injury or another OF injury. It’s happened, we need him. And he’s not available. Season changing bummer! If we were calling up Dominguez right now to replace Stanton, imagine how different vibes would be. Instead, we’re hoping JD Davis is good all the sudden. Sad sad sad
I agree it rough but I don't think the season is killed! I mean we still have 1.5 games up on the O's, and we just got done with one of the hardest stretches in our schedule! If the times were gonna get hard for us, June with B sox at fenway, dodgers, O's then Braves is when we would be struggling in my opinion. I do wish we would have picked up at least one of the series, aside from KC, but a 112 win pace is VERY hard
If losing an unproven prospect killed this season then this team was already a lost cause . Because you cant depend that much on unproven prospects if you are supposed to be going for a ws this season . This is just proof that you should never label a prospect as untouchable
Basically, with the exception of the rotation, which despite a bad time through (2 bad starts by Rodon) has been really really good, for everything else all the praise and all the criticism of these team has panned out. They have several players who CAN be good, but are hard to predict. Those players have been good at times, but not consistently. And they have very little depth, questionmarks in the infield, and a short bull pen. They have everything they need to utterly dominate if everything is going well. But if it isn't... This reminds me too much of 2022.
Davis is just another example of cashman trying to catch lightning in a bottle . Its his mo for the last 20 years or so . Leave it to cashman to bail out oakland when noone else would
Lineup way too top heavy even with Stanton u see it when they face good pitchers easy outs like Dj Gleyber Rizzo before he got hurt Cabrera both catchers aside from Trevino against lefties need to get a real 3rd baseman that can hit and 2 solid relief pitchers. Bullpen is already a problem and it's only june
I was pretty convinced this years team was better than 2022. I’m no longer convinced. In fact I think we’re worse. Rizzo and Stanton were both good in 2022. We have Soto but overall I think this years team is worse. Will have a similar result. .500 for the last half of the season and a playoff loss
We have some nice defensive upgrades that contribute offensively! Volpe is heating up again, verdugo has been great! I can't believe I'm saying this but even Grisham has been producing! I have faith in the team 🙏
I agree they should already know if an umpire is a hitters umpire or a pitchers umpire. It is what it is, you adjust to the umpire, if you bitch and bitch and the umpire keeps calling the same it’s up to the players to make an adjustment. If they don’t want to it usually doesn’t Turn into a W. All about adjustments in this game.
there is conspiracy theories that Aaron Boone holding Gleyber back? telling him be good teammate and telling to suck thru regular season. once post-season starts, he be gleyber again, he suddenly hit and become hot.
95 wins + the wild card I'll be happy with this roster Judge 64 HRs, Soto 2nd in MVP and then rest the roster just fking sucks That's the Cashman Magic - $300M+ payroll, no chance at the WS
Injuries, relying too much on Star power, home run or nothing thinking, lackluster defense, bad baserunning, and a suspect bullpen. Sounds like a Yankees team to me
Once again, a team takes on the personality of its manager. Boone is a soft kindergarten type...and so are the Yankees. How the hell does Stanton pull a muscle rounding third base at 1/3 speed?????
Everyone wants to blame @HalStienbrenner but it's @Brian Cashman who put this team together. It's 2022 all over again. They started out great but now reality comes to the fact that they still can't keep players healthy and its funny now it's hitting the minor leagues. They traded for a player who will never make the team better. SAD
In hindsight the Stanton amd Donaldson trades are two extremely bad baseball moves. Turns out, you should let teams get the prime time years on mega deals then trade for that player after that team realizes its all down hill from here.
Only thing i liked about the donaldson trade was that they got rid of sanchez . Other than that i knew it was a stupid trade from day 1. And i never wanted stanton , at the time they needed another top starter because all they had was sevy and tanaka . Cc was done . I never understood that trade at all and still dont
The big question I would like you to ask Boone is about not pinch hitting judge game 2 against Baltimore. When he played everyday since and clearly looks fine. Does he really think not pinch hitting judge somehow helped judge ? Considering how massive of a win that game would have been. That’s the question I need answered! That seems like old Yankees we hoped we’re done with.
Am I the only one living 2022 all over again?
Starting to feel like it.

It's cool someone over 100 years old is posting comments on RUclips.
Hahaha
Classic comeback bro
Jd Davis is an above average hitter which is more than can be said for DJ and Rizzo and Gleyber. Good move
Rizzo and Gleyber are better hitters than JD Davis
Not this season . The dude was hitting so badly that the a’s threw him on the waiver wires despite owing him a couple million

To be honest, DJ doesn't need to be in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future
Unless Judge & Soto get on base multiple times a game, and drive in multiple runs a game each than the Yankees lose. That’s asking way too much.
So what about Stanton’a contribution? We’ve won lots of games due to his bat. Don’t disrespect

Ask him about how platoons can help get guys going
Jake hair advice, after you dry hair give it a little brush job 1 time it will be good all day now that it’s getting longer.
Jake gave this team way too much credit and predicted with his heart.....that win/loss prediction was way off man
