To hell with the old fashioned Vietnam culture where family decides who marries who. Pao and Huong are mature enough to care for one another, besides who are the old fashioned family members to decide whether Baby Bon has both his parents or not. This marriage issue is purely a decision which Pao and Huong must take in the best interest of their child.
Well, easier said than done.. remember, this Huong's aunt who has papers on the property that Huong is renting, and with Pao, his uncle said his whole place will go to Pao in exchange for him being there. Theoretically, they could both lose everything by going against these two women. Some would give up everything to be with the one they love, and bamboo houses are easy to build, others would cave in order to keep what they have.
