I'm so glad this posted!! I'm 40 today
but was raised Pentecostal like COGIC how they grew up. No pants, no blues, (worldly music) jewelry, or make-up! I introduced my diet Catholic husband to them and now Karen is one of his favorite singers period! When he was in the ICU, I played "He loves me" ❤️ on repeat per his request! He doesn't even remember shaking his head to it but I played it for him and he responded. That was years ago but he still loves them to this day. ❤️ TCS are part of MY upbringing and I'm not ashamed of the Gospel!! I'm not where I should be spiritually but God will always be in my heart. I bless Him for grace and mercy!
The best singers are Gospel singers, period!

How the world turns around. The Presiding Bishop of COGIC at the time was furious to see Dr. Mattie Moss-Clark on stage with her girls. While he was having children out of wedlock. He even tried to remove her from the position of President of the International Music Department of COGIC. Today, Karen Clark-Sheard is the First Lady of the entire Church.

Maybe you should go read the part of the scripture where King David's was embarrassed to see him dancing in the street as the Ark of the Covenant was returning home; hint: God punished her now go find out how. The problem is you have been taught by an uninformed leader/church or your yourself need to brush up on your reading. All this to say they did exactly what they were supposed to do! They brought praise & worship where it was most needed! AND I recommend you to go look up Pastor Shirley Ceaser song "Hold My Mule" (the 'green beans/potatoes/tomatoes song). It starts with the story of a man being kicked out of church for wildly praising God but they find out later why he was so excited to praise God.
