It’s good to see see that Frankston City Council has recorded the history of the area as a publicly available video. It’s a shame about the audio sync problem that mars an otherwise nice production.

We spent our summer holidays coming down from Eaglehawk to the Fernery up to about 1958 enjoying the beach, the pier and the carnival. I learned to swim at the bottom of Olivers Hill with Gus Frolic. Then lived in Gould St next door to Sally Bessant secretary to Neville Shute. We met all the actors one afternoon at a party at her place. I went to Frankston High with some amazing kids. We were top of the state in Matric in 1963. I worked part-time at Coles supermarket and filled the bags of Geoff Raymond and Graham K. Saw him often at Ritchies. Worked some nights at the drive in on Skye Rd for Lloyd Worland. Frankston was was alive in those days. My memory of it is vivid. Never a dull moment. I tear up when I think about it. I guess I shouldn't do that.

There is a history of Frankston pre dating colonisation, the fresh water creek was a major aboriginal settlement. When Australia was a paradise.

Ken Woodward of Woodwards Butcher shop was the spitting image of Hop along Cassidy with his wavy red hair. I never understood why he worked as a butcher..

Mmhmm... I'd love to hear about what exactly happened to the 1000's of First Nation People who inhabited "Frankston" up until then... Tut tut.

Who's to say they were even hanging around Frangers then and who cares? No one here and now knew of the indiginees. Like most countries in the world there were indiginious or cavemen that once were on land. Thats all a part of history..which will be the same when the reds invade us in a few years. Then what. Still gonna rant on about a first nation? because we will all be the last nation .
