  • While we were in Tokyo, we had the chance to rent a sewing studio for an afternoon. We connected with Chie, a talented local designer who generously lets people rent her studio when she's not using it. It was such a cool experience to work in her space, overlooking the Tokyo skyline.
    After an inspiring day at Nippori Fabric Town I was so excited to finally put some of that fabric to use and create a memorable piece to take home with me. Figuring out how to print an A0 pattern in Japan added an extra layer of challenge, but we managed to navigate through it with the help of the trusty translate app. It definitely made the whole process more memorable. I hope you enjoy the video :)

    I loved your video! Your cameraman did a great job of capturing your moments in the light while you put your pattern together, cut the fabric, and your sewing. Really found comfort watching you sew. Thank you! I'm hooked! Just subscribed.

      Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I made the dress I am wearing using my Rue Blouse pattern. I lengthened the blouse into an A-line dress and shortened the sleeves ❤ Here is a link to the pattern - softenstudio.com/collections/patterns/products/rue-blouse-pdf-pattern-size-6-24

    I love your videos. Lining up that fabric took some doing. The pattern matching looked perfect. Sorry to ask the same question, but I loved your dress too. Did you make it? I guess so. Is the pattern available?

      @@softenstudio Thanks for your kind reply. When I looked at the pattern I realise the construction is very close to the Folkwear Chemise pattern, which I’ve just bought, so I’ll try that first. I love the Rue blouse/dress!!

    A sewing studio where you have to cut the fabric on the floor???

    • @softenstudio
      @softenstudio  11 месяцев назад

      It is a small private studio space that belongs to a single designer/dressmaker. Not so much a big public studio with lots of cutting tables and multiple machines.
