Its is fun to watch your videos and see other Volvo enthusiasts. My 2010, V70 awd D5 just hit 320, 000km /198838 miles and had also some repairs done with my mate. Cause im estonian who lives in nothern Norway so dont want to risk it and changed almost everything😊 New suspension(BC coils), New suspension arms, new bushings all around, axles was replaced a while back, new rear diff, midbox also changed etc.. So basically I have now almost new Volvo 😎 What is left to do is small things
I'm going to one up you :-) I have a BMW early 2009 e91 M Sport, which is currently on 210k miles on original suspension and fully original engine, transmission inc oil, 3 out of 4 coil springs, diff and oil unchanged - with pretty much nothing but tyres, brakes and oil services and a set of shocks all round. Only advisories on MOT at 208k miles were a trailing arm suspension bush being worn on the rear driver's side. Absolutely amazing car considering how old it is, and how many miles I have put on it since I bought it back in 2014 for a mere 8k 🙂 Has to be the best value car ever bought.
Plenty of life left in it yet. I’ve run a 2012 XC90 with 107k. Had a few hundred quid on it over the last 12 months through choice. Great videos and very informative 👍🏼. If we lived anywhere other than the UK the mileage would be laughable
Try descaler in your windscreen wash fluid tank, worked wonders on an old civic I had. Just be mindful it will be corrosive to paintwork so flush it through and wash any residue off
The door lock issue is almost certainly the little electric motors within the module in that door. The brushes wear out over time. Very common on Volvos, Land/Range Rovers and Fords that all use variations of the same part. Replacement modules from Volvo are £££, but replacing the motors is cheap, great guide here, it seems daunting at first but all makes sense when you've got the parts in front of you - ruclips.net/video/vIZmJFqoDKk/видео.html I replaced all four motors in both of the front doors on my XC70 for £18 from an eBay seller called AZGIANT in China.
The passenger door card looks like it's been removed before and not rehung correctly. It's possible that door has already had a lock module repair. Hopefully, just a case of removing it and rehanging it correctly, the video above shows you how.
I had the same door lock problem with my V70 last year, bought the motors from Amazon and followed the video in the link ihampton has sent you, now back working as it should!
Am @150k miles @120,000 miles - keep an eye on coolant level - well you'll get the coolant alarm 2 x P3 V70s have had to have radiators replaced due to tiny leak. Once rad repaired issue sorted. Issues on my V70 - got a VIDA DICE now - seem to be getting an occassional misfire on cyclinder 4. Think injector plug wire issue. Washer fluid level low alert - but still seems to be plenty of washer fluid in Just fitted a Carpuride 7" Carplay / Android Auto to my P3 V70. Def worth doing to make the factory headunit a bit more modern - because the std head unit / amp / speakers are decent enough.
Being able to put your fingers behind the door card can be fixed with a little Glue, pull off the door card and you will find that one or two of the brackets that hold onto the pop pins has broken off the card, and will be sitting there looking at you, but still stuck to the door and not where it is supposed to be, I.e on the card it's self.
I have the same with the door issue, just on the back passenger side. did you get yours going? I haven't looked at mine yet, annoying it certainly is. I've watched it could be the small spring which just needs replacing aswell apart of the mechanism, i hear it trying to go up but just gets stuck.
Don't know why you are moaning . Car is dirty wheels have brake dust baked on with bubbling paint .Its a 13 yr old car , take a bit of pride in it , if those are Michelin tyres you obviously can afford to spend a few quid on some cleaning products
Hi Phillip, I'm not moaning at all, just letting other owners know what wears and brakes when! The car is loved and well used. It is washed and polished regularly and in the video has about 1,000 miles of dirt on it after a week of driving :) I live in rural England and commute in rural Wales so it does get very dirty very quickly 🤣
My 2006 v70 d5 has 216000 on the clock and is very reliable as is my 1993 volvo 940 with just 170000 on the clock o had a land rover discovery 200tdi which clocked up 356000 but the body work dissolved!
120,000 miles passed with flying colours, says it all ......... Discs worn and ball joint super minor ! virtually any car with lower miles would suffer the same, rear door solenoid ? minor .....Washers .... blocked tubes or debris in the bottle, possible nozzles, pennies ..... door card, plastic trim clips or card warped, but I notice the D5 engine and gearbox are faultless, and why ? because these can easily do over 400,000 miles plus if maintained, I just sold a 2008 with 280,000 miles on the engine and gearbox that had had nothing, and I repeat nothing but oil and filter changes as necessary, still drove almost as new, they are legendarily bulletproof, if a little staid and old man boring !
May I ask whether your D5 smokes from the oil filler when the cap is removed? My D3 does (ruclips.net/video/Ge4q33sQVn4/видео.html), and also 'fails' the glove test. I know this is considered a sign of a failing PCV on the petrols, but insight seems more scant on the diesels.
Mine does the same :) according to the forums it is fairly normal as long as the oil level isn't dropping :) the way the D5 engines are designed you get a small amount of "blow by":) on some engines blow by is a sign of a heavily worn engine but the D5 has a but of blowby from the factory :) I have driven a 2016 D5 with 3,000 miles which did the same :)
@@drivelife.channel That's good to know. Haven't had it long, so just working through things as it approached 100k miles! Thanks for your videos, they've been very helpful so far. My lowly D3 136bhp will hopefully get its Polestar soon!
I have a ‘07 S80 D5 with almost 168k miles, nothing has been broken yet, running like a dream. ❤

*EVERYTHING BROKEN* well not really, I watch all of your content as I have an XC70 D5 same age as yours but only 68,000 mikes, very helpful thank you.

Never seen such passive aggressive comments on a channel for no reason good channel mate haha
The chances. My EGR valve also just started giving out so time to replace it.

rear door i had similar on my 2008 v70 cost 350 for a new mechanism the plastic cog inside will have sheared one or 2 teeth,
Be interesting to see the repair you do to your exhaust brackets
Wish me luck! ;)
Build quality is not what it used to be with s60. Nozzles are blocked and these 2 valves can be blocked too. £15 on ebay these one way valves.

A Volvo, not partly Ford as newer ones..
The main problem with p3 volvo is being partly Ford.
Back door only needs Wd 40 and it works fine now I have an 11 model with 100,000 also Drive model Very economical indeed

Definitely 😁😁
My car has done 144k miles , no major repairs at all, only usables

Can't wait 🤣🤣
