My 2011 D5 S60 has 88000 miles. For a 13 year old car, it drives like new and gives me 55mpg. Had it mapped and my god... it absolutely moves. And that sound! A diesel shouldn't sound like like a V8 and delivering the economy I get out of it, ❤ love it. These cars were built be maintained easily and fixed easily. Look at how easy the headlights come out. The last of the great Volvos.

Oh the joy of seeing it once again!!! I wanted to scroll down to the comments whilst listening, but I couldn't take my eyes off it. Such a beaut. And such a wistful commentary on the passing generation of "dumb" cars that actually connected the driver and the road... Ah... I will miss seeing it once you do sell it.

I’m sure of it wasn’t in the UK it would have gone. 100k + seems to scare people! But a well maintained car is back to its best at 100k. All wear and tear items are done. Good for another 100k + with a regular service!

Bang on. I've 210k in mine. Still going good, nothing major engine wise has gone wrong just usual top mounts etc

I'll really miss your content on this car when you do sell it. How about replacing it with an XC70 or V70 for Mrs. DL? Plenty of room for the dog in the boot (with built-in dog guard as standard of course) and it would be a good car to do comparison videos with vs the E39. Completely agree with you about modern cars! I have a Merc A250e as my company vehicle and I loathe the thing! I always find myself reaching for the keys for the missus' 2013 D5 XC70 which we have had since it was 18 months old - far more capable, easy to maintain, and it has a 'soul'.

Great video:-) I just love Volvo, I never been disapointed with any of the Volvos I had been driving the last 30 years, from the Volvo 240.740,940. And V70 1999, and my Great perfomance car Volvo V70 T5 250 bhp, that car is a missile, 5 years driving no issues at all. And now I drive a 2004 Volvo S80 D5 163 bhp, and the tork it deliver is just amazing. Actually I think thats my best Volvo ever i owned. This diesel turbo engines are so strong and reliable and the sound waaaw. Yess I am a Volvo fanatic. I just love these cars., I live in Norway and in the winter time this car is just deliver what it promise, drive with no problem at all even in 25 degree C minus:-)

I am from the Netherlands and recently bought one of these.
Yours is a sept 09 reg? Mine is a 13 reg D4 (163hp but tuned and now has 198hp)
Mine had 280k km (168k miles) when I purchased it but it is mint. No leather wear and tear anywhere, no dings or scratches and motorway driven.
Full options apart from bird eye view cameras and the tow bar but comes with a fridge in the rear seat;)

Have you ever tried to remove the gps head unit? I'm thinking of replacing ours it with a more modern one but not sure how to go about removing it. Any tips? It's a Volvo S60 2.4D.

I see you are still driving the dog about in it, some people don’t like a doggy smell in a car. I think it good do with a clean under the bonnet as well!.

Hi all, I have the opportunity for an excellent 2012 S80 D3 Geartronic with 29,000 miles (2L, 5 cyl, 163hp). What should be my realistic expectations for mpg? I commute 45 miles to work on mixed A and B roads with longer trips at the weekend. I'm finding people giving very varied responses across the web of 35mpg-50mpg! Thanks :)

It's hardly for sale if it's not being advertised. These things take up so much fuel it's worth getting rid of.
