    For anyone asking all of our cameras will feature the same updates (4x5, 5x7 & 8x10)! And all cameras recently ordered or orders placed from now have automatically been upgraded.

    It will be interesting to see what the follow through to the 8x10 version will be. Will it be offered in black? Will it include a fresnel as standard equipment, etc. I'd really like to get sn 8x10 that is lighter than my Eastman View 8x10 and Calumet pre-C1 to take out hiking for a forest and nature body of work so if they include all these upgrades from the 4x5 in the 8x10 as well, they may have a sale.

    FINE TUNING :
    Why do you mount the lens board upside down?
    This camera needs cold shoes on front and rear standards.
    Which bellows is needed for a headshot at 1,25 meter with
    a 360 mm lens on the 4 x5 Intrepid?
    Can 65 mm and 75 mm wide angle lenses fit on the 4 x 5?
    A filter protects the front element of the lens against salt water.
    Sun hood and compendium can rise the contrast of the film.
    A black cloth gives a much better view of the screen.
    Mind the illumination of this black camera in this video;
    your face is not important to see.

    I have to say that I'm not happy with my 2 year old wooden Intrepid 4x5 Mk IV, lots of issues that came up. Like light seeping in all over the place (I still have light leaks I can't find, I now have a suspicion that the rotating back is the issue, already seen some definite light leaks in a certain rotation of the back, but there have to be more); granted, my application is kinda special (4x5 pinhole, sometimes with IR72 filter) and I have extreme exposure times, even in bright sunlight, but even after fixing most of the issues, or I thought to have fixed them, I still have specific streaks that I for months thought were due to development errors (I'm now sure they aren't, as I systematically changed development procedures and tanks to fix them). Then issues with locking the back standard into place, when the extremely stiff bellows push on its top with wide-angle shots and rise making the top move backwards, sometimes over the course of the long exposure times (or even the dark cloth I need to use due to the light leaks does it sometimes). Unprecise bubble levels, rendering them nearly useless. The only upside was the price, I can't afford something like a Chamonix (I would love to buy one, its "universal" bellows alone would save me lots of trouble). Oh, the weight is also a definite plus for the Intrepid. Did I mention that I hate the rotating back? I would prefer the removable backs of the 5x7 and 8x10 models (but film prices per shot are hard to fathom with 4x5, and I wouldn't be able to carry the additional weight involved). Still, I might buy a black edition (mostly 3D printed parts) of the Mk V in hope that I can at least have the bag bellows, and some better precision than the wood model had.

    • @RobbieMaynardCreates
      @RobbieMaynardCreates  Год назад +1

      Sorry to hear all the issues you had. Maybe its an issue with the film holder? I bought a few older holders a few years back and I thought I had a similar issue but I found that it was the film holder. Tossed them out and bought new-old stock Fidelity's and haven't had any issues.

    • @c.augustin
      @c.augustin Год назад +1

      @@RobbieMaynardCreates All brand new Toyo holders, and also two new Chamonix ones. I thought about it, but tests showed that part of the problem was that the wood where the holder sits wasn't blackened (I used a thick permanent marker to change that, and it helped a lot - should be not so much of a problem with the black edition). Doing pinhole photography is special, because there's so few light through the hole (for example f/300 compared to f/16 with a lens) that every tiniest bit of stray light makes a difference. Still not sure where the last streaks originate from, but it is very annoying (maybe inner reflections due to the extreme image circle of a pinhole).

    This is the last straw. I’m putting it on eBay and buying a Sinar. Intrepid is just terrible anyway. I tried to like it but this just rubs me the wrong way.
