You are very welcome, there's lots to choose from, make sure you get well grown healthy plants (preferably some Garden Splendor ones) - that way you will be able to get off to the BEST start
I'm in the UK, is it a good time to plant clematis in the Autumn here. I also have two clematis plants, both got clematis wilt towards the end of the summer and I'm wondering if I should get rid of them & start again with new plants or leave them & see what happens.
Hey there, I know this is an old post but thought I would comment anyway:) have you tried clematis viticella varieties (prince charles is an amazing one!) They don't get clematis wilt. May be of help to you. Happy gardening! Ps have a look at Thorncroft clematis website they are amazing and have lots of viticella.
Thank you for your appreciative comment. The last thing I added was hardwood mulch, this is great stuff. A two inch deep layer helps to keep weeds from seeding in near you new Clematis, but it also (very importantly) keeps the soil cooler in hot summer weather and retains soil moisture. Both things that Clematis enjoy.

Mary, these types of Clematis cannot be grown from seed. You may be able to grow some of the species types from seed, it would take several years, and after all the work and long wait, I fear you would be disappointed because the plants are likely to be tall and lanky, have much smaller flowers, in less favorable colors, and even then, probably only flower once for a brief period. Better, I suggest, you invest in buying a nice (ready made) plant like I have in the video. that way, you'll get off to a great start, and be able to enjoy repeat flowering in a much quicker time period and have the color you select and like best. Hope this helps

Can I grow this in Southern California ? We are in zone 9b.
Absolutely! Clematis love their tops in the sun and their "feet" in the shade so be sure to mulch and underplant with other plants.
Why did you put over the root ? Thx
