Why does Talkback even exist? It is absolutely, criminally horrible! How do I totally remove it from my Android phone? Please, tell us how to GET RID OF IT!
So while I'm having issues as I can't disable Talkback this way on a hard reset because of the password entry space, I *can* answer why TalkBack exists - it's for people with low-vision or no-vision blindness.

@@kysc06 You can't get rid of it - it's an accessibility feature built-into the Android OS, the same way VoiceOver is built into iOS, and MacOS.
Its not easy when its enabled during the first power up - this is the most annoying thing i have seen in a long time.

My wife's phone almost slipped out of her hands, and all of a sudden she was in talkback mode. Holy crap was it hard to figure out how to disable talkback. I actually figured out how to disable before I saw this vid. But in order for instructions like this to be really helpful, you should do a vid while talkback is activated, because it's a MOOSE to navigate through if you just stumbled into it.

Talkback was a real hassle. I didn't know what it was and Tracfone's for shit Indian tech support didn't know what it was either (the idiot I talked to didn't really speak or understand English very well, and wouldn't go off script. Kept thanking me for something or other) so they're sending me another phone. Thanks for this! Big help! I still don't know how it got turned on.

This thing should not be turned by accident, mine came on when I was pressing the volume controls, very annoying, thanks for the easy fix.
I ended up going to settings then apps and opening up my talkback app and then doing a force stop

I just got it off it's true all you have to do is hold the volume button and the on and off button at the same time for 3 seconds it took me several tries but it finally work yeah it's off now it really does work

mine just goes back to brail keyboard I through my phone across the room at the wall but luckily it survived unscathed as its a TCL shock proof. got there in the end though cheers

That has no effect on the voice search in RUclips. The robot lady continues to scream out search results. I have been begging Google for an answer but as usual Google is inattentive to their customer base.

The Short cut should not be automatically on. I never remember activating the shortcut for TalkBack should have to be something that you know about and then go ahead and put it in there fact it should let you have the choice of permanently delete in the damn thing from your phone

I had to double tap to turn if off I kept saying 'HEY google turn off talkback' and it never did.
I want to use my 'Hey google' but I don't like the talkback and how hard it was to access things I couldn't even swipe up all it told me was letters.
Anyway to undo it for me I had to double tap.

I know exactly how you feel. I just spent the last three hours going through hell trying to figure out how to turn this off and of course it won't let you access any menu options because it tells you what button you're pressing. It won't let you scroll it won't let you do anything it's like a virus. I disabled it after I finally got it turned off. I think this should be considered a virus

I can't even get to settings. Talkback rambles on so that I can't launch any app. What's really sad is that I didn't know about this piece of crap program until my phone just started all the jibberish. Restarting the phone does not help. Right now, my phone is useless with this POS running.

Talk back is such a bad app . It takes over my phone. There are times you cannot remove it because even if you turn it off, it still talks.

I got my phone back from that horrible voice (w/o volume control) screaming at me. I putting in some calls to find out how I can completely remove it from the Android OS. READ ME FIRST!!! All you have to do is push and hold the volume up and down button at the same time. THAT IS HOW YOU ACCIDENTALLY TURNED IT ON.
