But it was the dude who was knocked down! I always thought it was weird he was screaming like that, now I know it was the other dude getting roasted to death! I blame it on the low fidelity and all the red armor.
Heavily inspired by the bridge scene in apocalypse now. Just realized this, from the circus lights to the silent black grenadier, the "who is in command" quote too.
Dude, these cinematics is the charm that gave another perspective to Star Craft, not only to him but also to the WarCraft and Diablo. These StarCraft, much as 3D and FX were not so evolved that time, the textures and everything, if it were produced content as well, as such, in my humble opinion, would give more visibility to StarCraft product and help to sell more, quality, action figures, trading cards, the new Heroes of the Storm. The fans would love and the quality of modeling, rigs and animations, it would be easier to produce than current cinematics that seem mega Hollywood productions.
Is it weird that one of the parts I miss the most are those big 'ol headlamps on the chest? The newer recessed ones don't feel as fitting for common rank and file soldiers.
The story telling and atmosphere still astonishing even in 2022. Modern games make things more clear and high-res, but did not come with better experience.
Back when StarCraft was dark and gritty, not about being happy go lucky and saving the universe and over designing things. The music, sound effects, everything here just matches up with what StarCraft should be, not people in fat suits with squirt guns trying to kill a bi-polar psychic mutant to save the (cliche) universe while honor horny reptiles do nothing.
kittylactose As someone who's actually okay with Starcraft II... I do kinda like the darker tone of the originals. I have no idea what you're getting at with fat suits and bipolar mutants and stuff though.
+LieutenantAlaki Some people like to just rant bullshit for the sake of ranting. I can't really call SC2 'happy go lucky' considering it has some mass slaughter and gore in it.
+Momo Peter I'd say it's still worth a try, and this is a very valiant effort I must say. Plus Starcraft's grittiness was more on the lines of cyberpunk dystopia, while warhammer relies on dark age, archaic draconian tropes to provide its grit. That said, and as a fan of 40k myself, I really do wish 40k would don some more sci-fi themes, since sometimes it's like it relies too much on its fantasy counterpart.
Not at all. Sc2 has many storylines that are memorable and better told than sc. Outside of the epilogue I ha e enjoyed sc2 on its entirety. The music the level design , the cinematics and the characters are all relatable and well crafted. WoL remains my fav of the 3.
This is just my opinion but I feel that this scene as gained ever more power now than when it first came out because watching mature, edgy stuff like this back then was pretty normal in stuff aimed for younger audiences but now a days you don't see stuff like this anymore.
Bring us up, helms, men....we must help other sectors... leave them to their fates... they will die fighting for freedom... we must carry on the dutys of freedom.

Don’t think that marine was UED, or that the ship was affiliated with the colony. He just saw that they were human, and that while they had the power to turn the tide, they clearly didn’t care to.
You know, whenever I see that guy in the white suit that killed the two zerg, I always think that he is Duran since Duran's character, the Ghost, has what looks like his bullets explode when it hits the target (like most Ghosts do), and every time I always think of this scene where the two zerglings explode by the guy's strange rifle design, which looks less like an Assault Rifle and more like an actual rifle or a grenade launcher of sorts. Thought this was where he was 'infested' by the Zerg. Also seemed like he was pulling up his Visor when the lights go up just in case they might see him or something.
I thought this character was significant or really could have been significant, you know some sort of a local marshall like what raynor was, but obviously this isnt so since starcraft II was a big mess
Starcraft 1's gauss rifles were built like that: Vaguely MG42/MG34 like with an underbarrel grenade launcher. Most likely this was just another marine.

Sun Moon Yes... Yes, I am prepared to go all the way, my good admiral...
Dan DCC91 Good, I knew I could count on you.
A pity he didn't take his own advice. And it killed him in the end. He killed himself, not just literally but metaphorically.
@@anstjsdlr Sun Moon, the colonists base will be overrun in a matter of minutes. Shall we intervene?
I didn't know this cinematic was a homage of Apocalypse now. A great movie indeed.
Heavily inspired by the bridge scene in apocalypse now.
Just realized this, from the circus lights to the silent black grenadier, the "who is in command" quote too.
Still get chills, even after all these years.
The UED better return with a vengeance!

Still looks great in 2019. Miss SC1 power suit so much.
Is it weird that one of the parts I miss the most are those big 'ol headlamps on the chest?
The newer recessed ones don't feel as fitting for common rank and file soldiers.
0:28 wow the guy is burning in the fire! Back in the day I always thought it was the firebat looking cool behind his flame. Pretty mature scene
My god... I'm french and I'm just noticing now that the lyrics to the opera were french... almost 25y later??
It's so incomprehensible! xD
my favourite cutscene from anything ever
The story telling and atmosphere still astonishing even in 2022. Modern games make things more clear and high-res, but did not come with better experience.
Always go back to this intro whenever you feel bad about Dugalle's death
rip blizzard, this game will always be remembered fondly
This and the Battle on the Amerigo are my 2 most favorite pieces of cinema. And that epic music!
Goes to show that art design and writing are the only thing that matters.
Anyone ever find out what song the marine is listening to?
If some day they make a Starcraft movie (And probably that day will never happen) I hope to see a remake of this scene.
Would be the best opening to the film.
This was truly atmospheric, love it. The good old days.
God how I loved Starcraft back when it was actually sci-fi
SC was always science fantasy.
The symbolism of this cinematic absolutely is an absolute masterpiece. Remember when they cared?
Music : Aria by Glenn Stafford
0:28 when you’re on the wrong side of the driller in Deep Rock Galactic
I can't really call SC2 'happy go lucky' considering it has some mass slaughter and gore in it.
kittylactose if i play SC2 on high graphical settings, the units looks like their colored with really bright plastic paint.
Starcraft grittiness is very much inline with late 80s and 90s scifi where everything seems kinda slimy and dystopian.
Dude’s just vibin to music in his trench awaiting his inevitable fate.
Ive never played Starcraft and yet this cinematic has existed in my head for 20+ years
So...
[inhales cancer]
Gerard.

Lol
😁😝😄
Hahahaha
Can't imagine how many times I watched this trailer. Absolutely awesome back in the day.
Still the most violent Blizzard cinematic ever, hope Starcraft can return to this one day.
This 3 minute cinematic has more soul and personality than all of Starcraft 2 combined.
no, u were just were a kid back then and when SC2 came out u were not.
Not at all. Sc2 has many storylines that are memorable and better told than sc. Outside of the epilogue I ha e enjoyed sc2 on its entirety. The music the level design , the cinematics and the characters are all relatable and well crafted. WoL remains my fav of the 3.
@@carlosc2104 no bro pls no lie

@@이슈마엘게임리뷰 it has. get over it kid.
This is just my opinion but I feel that this scene as gained ever more power now than when it first came out because watching mature, edgy stuff like this back then was pretty normal in stuff aimed for younger audiences but now a days you don't see stuff like this anymore.
Video games were mostly adult stuff back in Pentium 95 era
greatest game i've ever played, hands down greatest game i've ever played
The inspiration of the trench scene came from the Battle of Do Long bridge in Apocalypse Now
Am I the only one who finds it epic when the older marine says nothing and just points to the battle cruiser?
He knows what’s up. They’re not here to help. Colony’s already lost. He’s going out on his own terms.
WE NEED REINFORCEMENTS TO DEFEND SUPER EARTH
Bring us up, helms, men....we must help other sectors... leave them to their fates... they will die fighting for freedom... we must carry on the dutys of freedom.
well, he certainly knows everything about the zerg NOW! Just a shame that they seem to have completely forgotten the fact that he has 2 kids, would have been nice if he had at least made a token reference to them and the fact that he can't ever get to see them again >

@@thathandsomedevil0828 To My Dearest FB Friends: By now, the news of my defeat in the great drama storm has circulated. The drama and toxicity I aimed to deescalate in my circles is untouchable, and the friends and family I tried to be at peace with have proven to be more inconsolable than I anticipated. Whatever you may hear about what has happened out here, know this: I almost lost my lifetime friend of 23 years, who was like a brother to me. I shunned him. My conviction and unbreakable spirit shunned him. And now these things have consumed me as well in a perpetual death spiral of endless drama. You will never see me again, my loyal friends. I remember New Years Eve of 1999. I was 14, I was addicted to SC BroodWar and I was worried that Y2k was going to ruin my computer and deprive me of Starcraft.
Those were scary times.
DuGalle: "Are you prepared to go all the way into this, Alexei?"
Illidan: "YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!!!"

The Marauder existed since the first Starcraft game... only now I've seen it and connected the dots.
This game has, for as long as i can remember (25yrs), always been my favorite thing ever lol.
1:31 what is the name of the song? Im looking for this song for 15 years. Or was it just created for this scene?
it has been almost twenty years since the first time i saw this on a CRT screen with 686 computer, and now i am watching this on my iPad XDD
Are you prepared to go all the way with this, Alexei?
Yes. Yes, I am prepared to go all the way...my good Admiral.

I especially enjoyed the disbelieving look on the marine's face as he realized that they were being abandoned when I first watched this. And of course the music is superb.
Don’t think that marine was UED, or that the ship was affiliated with the colony. He just saw that they were human, and that while they had the power to turn the tide, they clearly didn’t care to.
One of the best games and Diablo 2 ever made in human history of gaming industry ! Everything after this two games is garbage. My life for Aiur !
+
Khotgor He would be a zerg roach, like his counterpart "Roach" from Apocalypse Now.
Starcraft 1's gauss rifles were built like that: Vaguely MG42/MG34 like with an underbarrel grenade launcher. Most likely this was just another marine.
:08 love the detail of seeing the white of his eyes. People usually open their eyes wider when they're terrified or really amped up
Blizzard, please remaster this cutscene!
NOOOOOOOO, ITS PERFECT THE WAY IT IS
Ah yes, back when artists and gamers made games, not corporate suits and frat boys.....
This intro deeply affected my childhood

It appears that we are. We ARE prepared to go all the way with this.
shows you how much i played starcraft....explosions to the rockets that kill the two zerg that get whacked after firebat blows up are the same sound effect for the reaver's scarab detonations Oo
Still gives me goosebumps.
