Solid review man. From the purely hobbyist perspective your review mirrored mine quite a bit. I think the CI tensioners are fantastic and worth the buy separately regardless of buying a pick set (at least in the US where you’re not paying for the product twice from shipping). Everything is well made and they do pay attention to detail on the products they offer but for the price, the Echelon is imo a better buy for a smith or first responder than a hobbyist who is solely focused on single pin picking.

Have an algorithm comment. I appreciate the seemingly pretty fair review, it's important to have criticism like this, especially towards the most influential people in a certain area. It helps everyone improve if it's taken in the same fair spirit it's given.

Thanks for understanding my point, and thanks for the comment. I completely agree -- not everything in this sphere should be an endorsement when it comes to reviews, it artificially inflates the air with only positive things to say about certain things.
I just wish the Echelon was something more than a thinner copy paste of the Genesis with some gimmick tools tossed in.

Jimylongs are fantastic. Peterson could be fantastic, if Ken would step out and let someone else take over 🤣

Jimylongs are awesome! Peterson suffers from a good product bad producer unfortunately. Competition in the marketplace is good though, because it means he isn't the top dog anymore because of it!

You have to remember that Covert Instruments wasn't actually focused on the Locksport aspect with their previous kits. They were focused on real-life covert/non destructive entry for first responders/government agencies. Yes, locksport uses a lot of the same tools, but they weren't producing things just for locksport. Wait til they start releasing some of their newer things that are geared more for locksport.

Maybe I should have been more clear in my statements. I did this review through the lens of only a hobbyist, ignoring the usage cases outside of locksport. Yes, if this was used by a professional, I'm sure the usefulness of each tool would be rather clear, but I stand by my point that for a hobbyist, you get about 40 bucks worth of tooling for 70+.

I always appreciate an objective review. I think personally you get more bang for your buck with law lock, bit that I don't appreciate convert instruments. Thanks for sharing and hope you're enjoying your weekend buddy 👍🤜🤛

Thanks for the kind words. I agree that Law Lock Tools gives you excellent bang for your buck, but their kits (assuming you want to buy in with a kit) begin rather expensively at 50ish gbp, or 63 usd (over twice that of the genesis).
Whilst they are much more filled out with TOK and BOK as well as excellent profiles made by Tipene and Andy Law, if you want a cheap 30 usd beginning, they may not be for you.
Be good to yourself and I hope you've had a good weekend too.

Thinner hooks are aplenty elsewhere, even in America. Here's the guide, sorry I can't make it a shorter link without using a potentially dodgy shortener: docs.google.com/document/d/1P4_g_a7UTF8b4JAEVaH3lBL_dvT4-eRvFT_Jh-bx1lA/edit?usp=sharing

They're certainly his tools, but everyone can have an opinion on products in this rather small sphere of sport and work.

Given they’re products for sale, anyone has a right to comment on/review what they’ve bought regardless of the fame or not of the company head
