Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has raised the ante from the previous gift of a game Elden Ring was and will continue to be. There was a reason Elden Ring was game of the year, and if DLC can be game of the year, I would throw this in the running because it is simply that engaging.
I never wanted to put the game down or go to bed when my 5 AM sunrise shined through my window. I just wanted to see what Shadow of the Erdtree would throw next, but I have to remember we are only human, and rest is essential.
The expansion is substantial and independent, conveniently adding a new experience and fresh direction to your character's development on your next playthrough.

I’ll be completely honest jumping from dragons dogma 2 to elden ring again feels so strange. I’ve gotten so use to seeing my characters movements move like an actual human. From the enemies to the excitement. Elden rings is beautiful I remember how amazing it was my first play through. Just after experiencing games that have more realistic movement & sound effects. It just made me feel spoiled is what I should say. Fromsoft knows how to make games don’t get me wrong. Just that you play it you’ll definitely notice the movement being more arcady like. Another games movement/ combat I enjoy would be monster hunter and the new wilds looks incredible. It looks like they took what they made dragons dogma 2 with and fine tuned it.
It's a fact.
dragons dogma 2 is just slower combat. arcade-y would be a game like Code Vein where your weight doesnt matter. youll float and your jumps feel very "floaty." Elden Ring has gotten faster but it can still maintain a weighty feel depending on what you do. and elden ring has more options for traversal and the magic is more varied than dragon's dogma 2. DD2 is more like classic fantasy. Elden Ring has a more modern feel to it but i wouldnt call it arcade-y its just much more expansive in terms of sheer skills and actions and the traversal is aided by spiritsprings and torrent. DD2 can be excruciating if you dont set down the portals in the right places and early on.

Great review but dude...I usually level vig to 40 after Godrick before I fight other bosses just to avoid getting one shotted. You are a beast. Pvp youtubers use 60 vig builds. It was just confusing hearing the review talk about difficulty and looking at that 40 vig HP bar. You musta gotten one shotted so many times. I am too old for that lol.
haha i learned real quick that i needed to start stacking vigor but iwas able to beat the whole game originally with the small amount of vigor in the beginning of the video

also, madness is particularly bad for int builds. i used to die while using my super high int/dex build but on my dlc prep character i had barely 9 points of intelligence and madness stopped killing me even in those places in the base game like the madness tower. it was cool to realize that low int helps you stave off madness. not sure about the dlc but it helped me in the base game lol.
nice review bro. I was wondering if you can answer a few few questions. 1. is it truly the size similar to lime grave but just lot bigger bcs of verticality but will be looking at the same map most of the game?
2. if you could estimate how many side caves there were how many would you estimate? (there was about 53 in the base game.)
I came across 9-10 side caves if I counted correctly all to which had varying lengths, some short, some longer ones. There are obviously other stuff to discover too.
I would say it’s more like limgrave and Caelid combined with a lot of verticality which really makes good use of the space, and it also makes it very hard to understand to right way to go.
I read somewhere the DLC is as big as Dark Souls 3.. Dunno if that's true but impressive if it is..

@@flo3ly777 i'm not gonna lie. I know I can do that, but I really just don't wanna see it. I rather just read it and and then I'll compare what I read versus what I'm seeing while I'm playing if that makes sense. Did you personally see the need map?
So far your review is the only one ive seen show footage of those dragons, That Romina boss and Messmer, Ngl that Bayle The Dread fight looks like an incredible spectacle, You specify that you didn't enjoy it tho which is a shame, But if you fought it with your health bar as INSANELY small as it is in that clip, I have a feeling with a much more sizable amount of vigor i will get ALOT more enjoyment out of that fight than you were able to lol
not sure if you watched the review until the end, but i figured it out lol.YEA the health thing is apparently real lol many people told me i was rocking low vigor but up until that point i had no issues with my Health, even in the base game.
Bayle fight actually grew on me

That's cool to hear, I just really enjoy spectacle fights like that and tbh that's the first footage I've seen from a boss on DLC so far that LOOKS very exciting to fight, Awesome arena & Massive flashy attacks, From what I've seen from the Lion Boss, Relanna & Messmer, They're attacks seem cool but man they're boss arenas seem incredibly bland which is a shame for main bosses. But yeah, The vigor thing is DEF real lol I mean if your incredibly skilled at the game and you rarely get hit then I can see someone pulling it off but considering this ks supposed to be on the same difficulty as the Endgame of Elden Ring, There's just no way i could make it in the DLC with that low health, I'm still getting one shotted by mid game bosses with 30-35 vigor lol probably gonna lvl up to 50 for the DLC, Along with Morgotts Rune.
A lot of the game I use Health and stamina talismans and tears but this DLC made me a 40 vigor guy. It was necessary at this point

I dont know, i played all souls games and their dlc and this is the first one that truely disappointed me.
Lack of replayability due to a pointless system (scadutree-blessing) too much recycled content, too many large yet empty areas
There are like 4 to maybe 5 bosses that were actually fun to fight and felt rewarding to beat rather than a relief that it is over...
Just got some THC from up north in Mendocino county, a 12 pack of sierra Nevada pale ale and I’m ready for Thursday night!!! I also just beat mohg on my second try for the first time last night and I’m level 184 now….I’m beyond excited

Someone in a forum (who has apparently played the game) posted that Bayle is not a Remembrance boss. Is that correct? Because honestly just looking at the footage you showed here there is NO way this boss would not be a main boss who rewards you with a Remembrance, it is very flashy and it seems as if the boss has a huge healthpool. Maybe it was a bug for him and somehow he didn‘t get rewarded with a Remembrence after beating the boss?
Also some reviewers say there are 10 Remembrence bosses while others speak of 11 main bosses. How many did you fight?
I found about 10 or so but I’d actually have to specifically look back at all of my footage and items to get an exact number.
Bayle is 100% a "remembrance" boss and I can prove it if need be lol

I am curious about you claiming have done most of the DLC in 40 hours when other reviewers are claiming 80+ hours. Some over 100h.

yea after i leveled up a bunch more and had the fragments (put more xp into vigor if you take a look lol) the Bayle fight was more appreciated and thrilling. I do think you need to study him still because he messed me up for a while.

Base game is definitely deeper and “better” as it should be, but yes it’s just as fun to play the DLC as it was the base game first time through. It’s simply just more Elden Ring.
I heard the dlc progression was separate from the main game? So you really need to be very high level to have any hope to survive in the dlc ?

lol it’s really not about jumping, and more about figuring out how to get somewhere, there is very little jumping parts actually, maybe 1 main jumping part, every other descend via jumping is optional
LMAO maybe you should rewatch the video, because that’s not at all what he said. There are sections of the game that are above other areas which are reached through side paths. Not parkour in the game 😂

I understand if you have to be vague, but which new boss would you say is your favorite, and which is the most difficult? Also, about how many remembrance bosses are there if that’s a question you’re allowed to answer
Both of my favorite bosses I can’t ethically call out but there are some fun fights and cinematic moments later in the DLC that caught my attention.
Most difficult is certainly the end game boss but the dragons are pretty challenging too.
Maybe 10 remembrances or something close to that, it was a long journey and I’d have to recall footage I didn’t show to get an exact number.

This is the best review i've seen, btw without getting into spoilers/leaks how did you feel about the final boss?

I did speak on the final boss briefly, but it was veryyy challenging the first time i came across it. i spent 3 hours dying and raging until i just continued on (at the time i didnt know it was the final boss).
In general, after breaking down some bias discussed in the video, I had an easier time after going back much later with higher levels and blessing status. I think it took me 30 min to beat the final boss the second time around, granted i put a lot of mental energy studying every move, but it def requires some luck of the draw after walking through the gate IMO.
The boss itself could have been more exciting, but it still was hype enough for me to verbally yell when it was revealed, and learning best practices after most likely over 100 deaths was still fun (since it was early access I had nothing to google or help me so i felt a little helpless first time around the boss). It really does take some time to learn how to dodge and fight. Much harder than elden beast IMO too, but honestly you should get a lot of runes you never had by playing the DLC, so it should be a little harder anyway.

i mean that goes for every game review, this one happens to have more hype behind it so there is more room for people to be mad about anything i show that may impact my opinion :(
