Jeff Mills is so far out there. He has this incredible vision for letting tracks evolve and shift in subtle but compelling ways. Just listen to how stripped-down and simple this set sounds, and yet there are so many nuances and rhythmic details that keep it interesting. To me this music is really brave.
The 909 is the queen of the Drums Machine for Techno and Dance producers. Jeff Mills is staying, in my opinion, the best real TECHNO producers/musician/DJ ever. Listen his mix at Liquid Room, it is legendary...
@mossy199 this is once more "unique and timeless, percussive Techno" from the wizard! thanx for upload! but just live is live... i already miss his enchanting live works on TR-909 ! - Vienna Calling - !
thanks for sharing. nice memories about this wizard of the tr-909 aka jeff mills at we love sundays at space. i was the photographer in the begin of the video btw;-)
I agree he´s a Legend and unique! dont forget > Derrick May, Steve Saunderson, Juan Atkins (4 Fantastic Detroit Techno). Keep Rockin JEFF! RESPECT for all.
you know that in the hours before this he usually lays down the best dj set anyone on the floor has ever witnessed? And the fact that he is brave enough to attempt making beats on the fly is second to none in the world of techno. thank god someone is up to the challenge of doing something interesting in the oh-so-standarized techno dj world. and who cares about a drop other than the skrillex-crowd anyway :p
have to say this doe not have the energy of the old style Jeff Mills. One of the best live techno re mixers ever but not hard enough for me on this occasion. love and respect to the great man though
I feel that the more software takes over, the more people will be looking to do something different. So, the two worlds will eventually become one in some way or another.
its funny i use a 808 909 303 101 live and i had a punter come n ask can you play prodigy lol!!! most people have no idea what goes into making music!!! mad respect to the old school!!!
Its because there would be no Techno no without him, he helped invent it. Also its a TR-909 set, there is so only so much you can do with a 909 man. Look how he works that machine, its en-genius.
Without The Roland`s Techno Would Be....Moore Poor And...Not So Special ..I love The Claps Hi Hats Of The Roland`s .......Its A Influence Of Jeff Mills Too ....But I Hope Mills Continue Throught The Oldschool ....Because That`s The Feeling...For Those Who Feel Like A Machine...When They Are Dancing In A Good Techno Party.......Analog Feels Better ....Pc`s And Ableton Dont Give`s Me Fascination Like A Good Old Machine ..Like This.....i´ll Shure Buy One Of These To Start My Productions ...Thanks!
ah the old software/hardware debate rages. I prefer the gear but if you know what you're doing you can do pretty much the same w software. Difference being you dont got the knobs for tweaking! But thats where you get a controller..
Not a video to watch if you're trying not to buy a 909. Why do they have to be $3,000 and up!!!! I realize if you factor inflation they would have sold today for $2,500 but still...
ok this is utterly boring, the only reason why I watched most of it is because it has a tr 909 in it, but the dude builds up and than nothing, its a slur of rhythm which is fine if you drop to something heavy as sh*T but this doesnt do the job, look at the crowd...how the hell did this guy get booked, I know i know... Jeff Mills, but reall? watch it again and tell me when your asleep
I would've gone to dance in the other room, this is boring as fuck, no bass at all, I know he's Jeff Mills and all, but I think things have moved on slightly.
I've stood in the middle of that dance floor many times, if there was a decent amount of bass you would hear it, even on a video made with a phone....'you twat'....bit harsh....
I'm 35 and have been a house DJ for 14 years....so probably shouldn't be commenting on techno anyway....and yes, I have been to Ibiza, more times than I can remember.
Pretty big assumption there ***** I do have a few Sasha tracks amongst the 3000 records I own. Anyway, didn't mean to cause offence, I must've been having a bad day when I wrote my original comment on here. I know what you techno crowd are like, defend it to the death, and that's cool, it just doesn't have enough soul for me, each to their own! :) soundcloud.com/tom-shearer
I was there that Sunday !!! Sensational
He's from another planet..this is real TECHNO!

There are no tracks. He is making the sound live. Just going with the flow. This is what you call a live act.
nice, also on a sidenote, its good to see technics are still present :-)
Just avesome!
have to say this doe not have the energy of the old style Jeff Mills. One of the best live techno re mixers ever but not hard enough for me on this occasion. love and respect to the great man though
search for: jeff mills 909 awakenings.... the 5th vid is a sick example of what jeff mills can do with his 909,,... its astonishing!!

i love artist with live machinery :D
i like the tr 808 and tr 909 i like the sonorite roland i love the two box at rythme
I feel that the more software takes over, the more people will be looking to do something different. So, the two worlds will eventually become one in some way or another.
Jeff Mills = Rythm Master!!!
doing the work properly at 3:20 ...... JEFF MILLS PLAYING = GOD SPEAKING
Techno is the new disco.
and on the seventh day god sat down and created the tr 909 and mc 303 and said 'LET THERE BE TECHNO'...and the heavens stomped...
Vaya Amo
its funny i use a 808 909 303 101 live and i had a punter come n ask can you play prodigy lol!!! most people have no idea what goes into making music!!! mad respect to the old school!!!
titans walk the earth, my friends. Here we see one at work.
Its because there would be no Techno no without him, he helped invent it. Also its a TR-909 set, there is so only so much you can do with a 909 man. Look how he works that machine, its en-genius.
master of techno!!
If you wanted to see him mix, well then there are plenty of other videos where he does that.
the best!

"roland tr 909"
well thats 10 minutes of life i cant get back..
But this is Techno
кто там светом балуется все время? не видно ни хера.
Not a video to watch if you're trying not to buy a 909. Why do they have to be $3,000 and up!!!! I realize if you factor inflation they would have sold today for $2,500 but still...
How old is a piano as an instrument, and what about a guitar? How long are they going to play the same old instruments over and over again...
Jeff is not human. Humans make crap compared to this. And the 909 was created following the order of God who dedicated it to Jeff.
@djpanik3d
@WellBuggerMeSideways You mean the TB-303, the Mc 303 was a joke, god cried the day Roland released their new shittier machines called MC.
Techno is futuristic, not old fashioned, but sure, for many it sounds boring.
ok this is utterly boring, the only reason why I watched most of it is because it has a tr 909 in it, but the dude builds up and than nothing, its a slur of rhythm which is fine if you drop to something heavy as sh*T but this doesnt do the job, look at the crowd...how the hell did this guy get booked, I know i know... Jeff Mills, but reall? watch it again and tell me when your asleep
looks like a boring vibe to me
hahahaah .. no melodies needed :P
Appreacite the skill and all, but the track is boring...
ignorant
Voll schlecht
+Daniel Müller Alles klar
its very boring... and too old fashioned in my opinion
I would've gone to dance in the other room, this is boring as fuck, no bass at all, I know he's Jeff Mills and all, but I think things have moved on slightly.
you cant hear the bass b cause of the bad recording
I've stood in the middle of that dance floor many times, if there was a decent amount of bass you would hear it, even on a video made with a phone....'you twat'....bit harsh....
Don't take it quite so literally mate. I meant your never gonna get pure bass of a phone recording that's all! Peace 8-)
I'm 35 and have been a house DJ for 14 years....so probably shouldn't be commenting on techno anyway....and yes, I have been to Ibiza, more times than I can remember.
