I feel people kinda missed Kanye's point, although I don't encourage what he said I feel if people understood what he was trying to say then the attempt made to educate him could have been more receptive, relatable and informative to viewers. I think there is still an issue of victim blame with this statement, as if it was our responsibility to take ourselves out of a situation we were forced in, and many slave who tried to escape were killed viciously, some having their feet chopped off to keep from running and even hanged so there was definitely a physical factor that played into it as well! I feel the reason what he said could be harmful was because it frames us as negligent for not taking control of our reality when we were oppressed. But this isn't true, it couldn't have been helped so easily and we tried our best. I think this just comes from his frustration and being mad at himself for feeling victimized, he was very passionate. I don't feel angered by his comment because it's just him trying to interpret and process like we all are. But his point was very valid, there was mental enslavement and many things done psychologically for example making us feel ugly, dumb, and degraded. Blacks could not be taught to read and write, and were made fun of for LEARNING A WHOLE NEW LANGUAGE but not having the right slang. Even in segregation we could not drink from the same fountain, the list goes on...
Kanye is brave enough to speak his truth and honestly sounds like he would agree with what Candace Owens is stating as well. Kanye was well spoken and clear. You guys and van just disagree with his point of view, instead of agreeing to disagree, you become bitter and hateful. It’s not right. Just because he thinks about a topic differently doesn’t mean “this must be his mental illness”. Stop.
Just because that is Kanye’s truth doesn’t make it THE TRUTH. Kanye has admitted to being bipolar after this interview. People seem to forget the horror of slavery. The being taken away from not only your land but your family and friends. Being stuffed in a boat where people were defecated upon not to mention being in the dark for 3-6 months only to come up for exercise or when your body was being thrown overboard. You are one of the fortunate ones who make it off the boat to where you are sold by a group of people who don’t look like you. They beat you or kill you to make an example of what happens if you don’t comply but you don’t understand because you don’t speak their language. Your family is then forcibly removed. Fathers, mothers, daughters and sons are separated. You are branded. Women and girls are raped.( Even after they are married). Husbands and fathers are forced to sit back and allow this. It’s against the law to read. You are seen as less than human. 400 years later you are “free” but as a grown man, someone’s grandfather you are a boy. They can come in your house and take you out of your bed. They can kidnapped, beat and take parts of your body as a Souvenir from your lynching. Time moves on and all sorts of roadblocks are setup before you. Hundreds of companies are started off of your blood, sweat and tears. Laws have been put into place to make sure only a few make it. But move on, get over it. It was a choice. People suffer from mental issues from things that happen in their childhood so could it be possible for generations who have suffered still have some issues within that community?
Harvey’s look. 😂 He looked at him like “WTF did you just say?” The whole time I saw those wheels turning as he’s trying to comprehend what the hell he’s talking about.
He clearly forgot where he came from... be thankful for your roots everyone, just because you didn’t have to struggle for freedom doesn’t mean you shouldn’t respect those who did, especially if they’re your ancestors who got you here
I agree Loni, keep those blacks in the government's school books. Never let anybody second guess what those text books from history class force everyone to know
No one said they chose that! What Kanye was saying is that we had numbers on our side and just like how they got together and chose to inslave us we could have got together and chose to fight and end it within those 400 years. What did we really have to loose. He’s saying we chose fear over fight and that’s a mental thing when we lived in fear for 400 years anyway. Just like Black Lives Matter…..if we didn’t come together and fight back wouldn’t that mean we’re enslaved in the mind and we’re just taking anything that happens to our ppl or are we fighting back! I think ppl took it wrong because he was wearing that hat. He’s for his ppl he had a bigger message with that hat just like the slavery speech but he’s a genius and some ppl minds can’t go that far for thinking outside of the box. He wore that hat because he wanted blacks to know I’m rubbing elbows with him we good and let’s be true trump has did a lot for black ppl more then a lot of white presidents. He didn’t try to disrespect his own race he’s just very misunderstood.

In a way I can understand what Kanye was saying. He said we as black people had a "choice". What we don't understand is that we as people think that having a "choice" has to be a favorable one versus the alternative one. Choice means having "options"; it's not about whether those "choices" are favorable either way. The "choice" was either be a "slave" or "die". Those two are options, and that's what choice represents. You hear people say it all the time, "I rather die, than be a slave....", ok, that's the choice you made. Though either coice is not favorable, it's still a choice, so in that sense, yes, our ancestors did have a choice. Just because you don't like the options doesn't mean you don't have a choice
I don't know how people support him after this I know it's been a while but people really need to open them dam eyes. I'm not even black im Latina and boy I have so much respect for slavery topic. This is ridiculous 🙄I think he should of been CANCELLED since that point 🤷🏽♀️

There’s something to be said about the length of slavery… and to some extent Kanye places the blame back on the enslaved because it lasted so long. What Kanye seems to missing is the term and definition of enslaved. Sure, they were likely mentally enslaved as well, but I don’t think he understands the gravity of the physical enslavement and the power and control whites has at the time. I read something where whites made themselves out to be God, and used passages in the Bible to hold the soul of of the enslaved. That’s a lot of power that was used to keep blacks from uprising over the decades and then centuries. To make it the fault of the slaves, or to blame the enslaved as to their suffering and the cruelty showed to them is wildly disrespectful, and grossly inaccurate. If someone tells you they’re God, AND has every right over you in the sight of the law and every authority… it’s not a choice dear, it’s enslavement/ownership over you. It’s nothing they could’ve chosen, and if they did, they did so in the absence of hope or truth that hope was not on their side in their lifetime. Many head games can be played when you’re dealing with the devil, and that’s what slavery was, the devil incarnation into the whims and absence of consciousness of people carrying on what was once normal.

Wait why is it disrespectful?
Dani Perry Wallace she called him an intern when in reality he is a whole ass producer
Imagine if this had went down now, while Amanda is on the show?! 🥵
Okay❗️ “He can no disrespect my ancestors”
@11:32-@11:38 i felt that Loni and that is so true
Tamerah and adrienne Stop making excuses for him , his new statement he doubled down on it !!!
Lol Kanye is kinda crazy but still 😂
I see what saying and make sense he just very out spoken… He is in another level mindset….
Love the producer's Fan statement. He is an intelligent man. God bless u.
Ik know this isn't important but did y'all see the way Tamara was glowing sis shoulders be shinin shinin shinin shinin yeaaahh so beautiful.
The full 30 minutes 1 second interview is on RUclips. Did you watch it or just the clip(s)?
Loni Love keeps getting finer everyday!
@Karishma Sharma tell me about it😍
A man with an intelligence.
Love yall
Harvey’s look. 😂 He looked at him like “WTF did you just say?” The whole time I saw those wheels turning as he’s trying to comprehend what the hell he’s talking about.
When the producer came out kanya face changed yes it did cause he knew he was wrong
He clearly forgot where he came from... be thankful for your roots everyone, just because you didn’t have to struggle for freedom doesn’t mean you shouldn’t respect those who did, especially if they’re your ancestors who got you here
Loni was looking lit😍😍😍
this is a new brake down 2020
I agree with Kanye
all I could say to him was PERIOD !
I agree Loni, keep those blacks in the government's school books. Never let anybody second guess what those text books from history class force everyone to know
The information she was talking about isn't found in any public school books. Those books usually have misinformation about all minorities.
damn that gave me chills
he is right
No one said they chose that!
I agree with Jeannie. I don't think Kanye is a bad guy he just has some internal struggles. Maybe his views will change and he can learn. We all have had mindsets that weren't always right people can change.
He was so on point
Did he say this a while back? Is this old?
And y'all decided to repost this because....??? After so many other things that could be reposted you reposted this....? Why
Anything to break down a black man
Esoteric 101 HE BROKE HIMSELF DOWN, isn’t it amazing how everyone has to find words to signify his thought process.🤔
@@VocallyYours3 regardless he apologize for his mistakes and continue to branch forward. Why must a person be condemned? Why keep being reminded of his mistakes daily, how is that love?
This clip is OLD. This happened 2 years ago and Van Lathan was fired from TMZ since then.
Odyssey to Jérémie right?! I checked the date on the video like huh? Lol 🤷🏾♀️
that's why it says "girl chat VAULT"... y'all know what vault means?
@@manudid3971 Yeah. It means something you should be locked in with no food or water for life.
@@LilacStar82 wrong. I advise you strongly to read a book or twelve and educate yourself. you seem to need it.
@@manudid3971 Cleary you don't know sarcasm when you read it. Seek help idiot.
The interviewers face was like 👁👄👁👁👄👁👁👄👁👁👄👁
I’m glad he schooled him dough but for kanya to be a black man and for him to say that or think 🤔 the things he say is krazy
Love you Ladies. Keep it real
Wow watsup with all the throwbacks to mistakes lately on kanye? Is it planned or something?
He was correct, our ancestors chose to comply with the rules of slavery so that we can be here. They sacrificed themselves for the future.
THANK YOU Loni... only person that was speaking real and not letting him get away with his ignorant words while everyone else kissed his ass.
I love Kanye West D;
Loni looks really cute in this look
Poor Harvey was so confused. 🤣
I agree with y’all specially Lonnie
He probably isn’t being medicated and has some type of health condition because his actions are just outrageous sometimes & his wife doesn’t make it any better ....
Kim, North, Chicago, Psalm and Saint are so proud of their daddy huh
VAN, YES!
Kanye West has bipolar disorder and yes he does take medication for it so perhaps
It was his disorder talking who knows
But I hope that he is seeing a therapist in regards to his bipolar disorder and that he can express what he has said on TMZ to that therapist and hopefully he or she can help him make better choices with what he says and chooses to say in the future
Just because you don't like the options doesn't mean you don't have a choice
how come these people r still here when we r told to stay home ... im just wondering
Omg that man 💀
That guy was a hero and very very smart
I don't know how people support him after this I know it's been a while but people really need to open them dam eyes. I'm not even black im Latina and boy I have so much respect for slavery topic. This is ridiculous 🙄I think he should of been CANCELLED since that point 🤷🏽♀️
Kanye is an Icon he would never be cancelled in my book. You can't cancel the Greatest of all time
I like kanye.He has a good heart.
Good for you.
Me too
Van is a BOSS.
I stopped supporting Kanye bc he lost it and purposely keeps himself from educating himself and instead thinks he’s a true genius. Never will I support his work. Till this day his music plays I will turn it off!
I will continue to listen to him.Goodbye
Jada Dedier who cares what you think 😂😂
Same! I’ll listen to the old Kanye west before anything he puts out today.
That Life Was So Bloody
to think this man is running for president now
There’s something to be said about the length of slavery… and to some extent Kanye places the blame back on the enslaved because it lasted so long.
I can see her on the side with the kane trying to pull somebody back. Lol
