My dad was a park ranger at Mammoth Cave in the early 60's. He told me about an incident that happened one day. According to my dad...the body of Floyd Collins was encased in a glass coffin at the bottom of the cave, at that time. On one tour he was at the rear of the line, as they were ascending from viewing his coffin and he stopped to tie his shoe, while the others went on up. He was alone and as he started back up the stairs he said he heard a voice say "Hey...wait for me...!" Dad said the hairs on the back of his neck stood up and he quickly caught up with the group.

I know we aren’t supposed to feed the trolls, but I’m pretty sure no one has ever claimed PTSD from a paper cut. The Canadian Armed Forced is in the process of paying out a 900 million dollar lawsuit to survivors of abuse. Seems like a lot of bandaids.

I grew up 30 miles east of Cincinnati and visited Mammoth Cave as a kid. The only thing I remember is when the guide had us all stand still and he turned off all lights and showed us complete darkness. It was very cool, albeit a little scary. This documentary gave me SO MUCH more information! Thank you!!!
They still do that on the tours! Total darkness! Very cool place!
I grew up on a rural farm less then 15 miles from Mammoth Cave National Park. The Park, the Cave and the surrounding area is truly a beautiful and unique place.
My grandma was/is a Holley, and grew up down there around horse cave/Glasgow,chicken bristle

Me, my son, his wife and three children went on tour. Summer time . I took long sleeve shirt. The others said they didn't need anything to keep warm. Lol I took in a couple of bath towels just in case. Well don't you know kids wanted my long sleeve shirt and the towels to keep warm. Grannys know !!!

I live in northern middle Tennessee, I remember going to Mammoth Cave on a school trip, it was wonderful. If you have never been I highly recommend making a visit, follow I-65 north past Bowling Green, take the Cave City exit. There are not many hotels or restaurants near the park, which is a shame, it’s a beautiful area but I wish Kentucky would invest in this small town, it would be a boom for tourism. It could be the Gatlinburg of Kentucky, centrally located for so many surrounding states. I think it could be the perfect spot for family vacations.
I'd be scared to sleep in a high-rise hotel, knowing that the ground beneath was hollow😅
There are nice small cabins to rent near by
I think that area just got hit with significant tornado damage last week!

I have visited the park several times. Each time, I leave with a sense of wonderment that never dulls with every visit. My family and I have visited Mammoth Cave three times and took a different tour each time we visited. I would 10/10 recommend everyone to visit the cave if you ever have the opportunity!
I loved this. I live just a few miles from the cave, and still go down there quite often. it's almost like home. As you enter the visitors center area there is a train car surrounded by a small wrought iron fence. When I was tiny my mother wanted a picture of me with it and I was crying in the picture because I was terrified it was going to move. Its hard to believe that has been 40+ years ago.

I had a pair of blind cave fish in my aquarium back in the early eighties. They were cool!!!
I recommend the wild cave tour. I've never been so sore in my life. Worth it.

Remember nobody has ever reached the end of mammoth cave and there are over 20 known entrances

I live a few miles from the National Park. I enjoy hiking and mountain biking there in the fall. I’ve been on most of the cave tours and honestly, I never get tired of going! Nice video!
I'm surprised you didn't talk about the theory that the cave is an entrance to the hollow earth

I am 67 years old now, but as a young boy, my parents took my brother and I to Mammoth Cave. This was about 1960. I saw the mummified native American Indian, and had terrible nightmares that night. It was intense for a little boy. I suppose I should go back and check it out again.
I wouldn't. Like you, I used to have nightmares too, as a little boy, when I was growing up in Saigon, Vietnam. I would have the same repeating dream, where I would go upstairs. It was like a loft. Anyway, the dreams were always the same, with me going upstairs. I would root around upstairs, then get chased by a ghost, so I would run for the stairs, & that's where I would fall............. & that's when I would wake up covered in sweat. The nightmares stop when I left that house in 1979.
It’s no longer there. A ranger buried it to a secret location. When he retires he passes on the location to the next ranger and so on
You need to go back and see it agen.
My dad used take me & my brother & sister, to Mammoth Cave. We went 3 times in all. It was in the late 70's. Every time was such unique experience. It DOES fill you with wonder and amazement. I remember going in the middle of summer, and wearing a sweater in the cave, because it was so cool. It felt wonderful! All of these pictures bring back so many good memories. I am going to take my daughter and her husband to the cave, to show them how amazingly huge and beautiful it is. Thank you for the video, I loved all of the information! I didn't know about the paranormal aspect of it, but it doesn't surprise me at all! Great video!

Loved this one so much I grew up in Livingston TN so as a kid made several school trips to the cave and as an adult my ex wife's family reunion was held there every year this brought back so many memories thanks Steve
I live in the lower hilham area in Clay county.Its great to see a comment from a local.I also went to high school at Livingston academy in 1980.If you like mysteries you would be amazed at how many Bigfoot are in the area we live in.I own a farm and see them all the time on my cameras and have taken hundreds of photos over the last 27 yrs I have lived here.😊😊😊

Absolutely fascinating! I live in KY and have been to Mammoth Cave! It is a sight to behold for sure. This video was much more insightful than the actual cave tour though😂

I love in Louisville Kentucky and I'm born and raised in New Albany. I knew 1 person who's gone missing there back in the 90s that doesn't even get coverage and I don't know why. I love it there though and not all of it has been mapped out
Do you remember the person who went missing in the early 90s? People thought they were maybe dumped there and all that? I'm from new Albany and live in Louisville and I can't understand why this hasn't been covered

I love Mammoth Cave! My husband and I went several years ago and did the 4hr cave tour. Took our 2 nephews a year or 2 later and did it again. Didn't experience and paranormal activities but it was an informative cave tour.

I love mammoth cave. I went on a guided tour into the other bowls. We had to crawl through the tunnels to get to them. My husband wasn’t able to because there is a strict size and weight limit due to the narrow tunnels.

Amazing informative and interesting. Thank you so much for sharing this. I have been through several of the cave tours. And have camped for a few days on two different occasions. Both camping trips were in mammoth cave back country.

Thank you for this great video on Mammoth Cave. I have been there on a tour as a teenager & later as a mother with my husband and our sons. Seemed like the two times I've been there I was on the same tour each time, so this video gave me some of the sights from other tours. The ghost stories are great! Didn't know it was haunted. Will be sharing this with other family members.

I was taken on a tour of Mammoth Cave in the summer of 1956 or 1957. I have never forgotten what it was like inside that cave. I remember being cold. Someone turned off the light; but, they were turned back on a short time later. I have never wanted to go back.
I've toured Mammoth Cave and got to see a tiny bat and a gnarly looking cave spider, lol. It was amazing. ✨

I have always had a fascination with caves. This one is a place I need to visit. And by the way...love that you put the Know Before You Go portion. I am so happy that I found your channel. I have listened to you for quite some time, Steve (just wasn't in the chats at the time....was part of the replay crowd)....it has helped me greatly with my long bouts of insomnia (I know you have heard this before but your voice is relaxing and has helped me get much needed rest). "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time." It's sad that people need to be asked to not litter, (among other things) anywhere in this world. But especially in our nation's beautiful national parks. Yet I see trash tossed to the side of the road everywhere I go. I've been to Mammoth Cave twice. It's mind boggling how large that cave is! I've been to numerous public caves in Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama. I've also been spelunking in numerous wild, private caves in the Middle Tennessee area. I'm glad to have had the experience and the memories now that I've reached my golden years.
My dad used to love to vacation here every year as a firefighter. Looks to me like an excellent place for off-world races to hide or an underground city.

I went to WKU in the 70's and have been on every cave tour in Mammoth Cave once, and the wild cave tour 3 times. Now that I am retired and traveling the country in my camper van, I still camp up there when back in the area. It is an incredible cave system and well worth seeing. The National park is a very beautiful place. This is a place I hope everyone can see at least once, like the Grand Canyon.

I live in Kentucky all my life love our cave country, I love Mammoth but Carter my favorite one .. less people a lot of unexplored caves you can get permits to do.. I go there about ones a week in Summer and few times in Winter.. the trails are beautiful …
I first heard of this cave in the song "the ghost of Floyd Collins - Black Stone Cherry". I initially thought it was just a song, didn't realise that it was about real events.

My family visited Mammoth cave in early 70’s while on vacation..it was huge..one thing I remember most is fat man’s squeeze…I have pictures that I took of my parents going thru there…it was the first cave I had ever been in…
