Es la primera vez que veo este tenor , me ha sorprendido su maravillosa voz !! Su interpretación es perfecta , y se entiende muy bien lo que canta !! Muchas gracias por compartir. Saludos desde Paris
Love Michael Fabiano. Have seen him in Lucia at the Met, Carmen at Washington National Opera and will be seeing him in Carmen at the Met next May. Also saw him in a wild Rigoletto at Covent Garden!
Michael Fabiano has the most excellent vocal technique that makes him able to bring forward to the listeners the excellence of Puccinis music. Regards from a tenor in Norway, Europe.
Yes, Puccini is the genius of heart-breaking bel canto melodies and orchestration that exactly compliment and set-off the harmonics in the human voice. Up there with the goddesses of Bach, Mozart, Wagner, Britten, William Walton. Strauss, Mahler. Love, andrea
Wow, this is just amazing! The singing was amazing and the acting and chemistry between the two is golden! How Mimi looks at him makes my heart melt. I bet the O soave fanciulla will be very a believable love-at-first-sight romance.
Crisp and clear, that's what came to mind. I thought you'd have held 'the climax' for a touch longer but please, it's not really a criticism, just a wish. You did a superb job. Congrats.
What a beautiful rendition and dynamic delivery: draws you in when he's quiet and then just enough power to make your heart leap (before carrying on). True, listeners -- picky ones like myself -- could ask for more... er, colour for instance, but the effort and sensitivity he's put into this aria is already well-appreciated. Note to stage director: Might want to work on that blocking unless your Mimi is an aspiring contortionist.
Always so silly seeing people complain about certain notes being flat or not whatever, unless you’re in too deep in opera you have no way of hearing any mistakes 🤷♀️ sounds like singing to me
My favorite Opera and Opera House! Very well done. I saw this at the Metropolitan Opera last month. Very beautiful : ) For the Sopranos, I would suggest learning "Mi chiamo Mimi" : )
Wow wow!!! Just wow!! What a gorgeous voice. I came across this amazing voice today in a video with Lucas Mecham. So glad I did. I have listened for decades to all the great singers in every voice category. My favorites are Siepi, Tozzi, and Hines. But that’s because I’m a bass. 😂 I thought Mario Lanza had the most beautiful tenor voice I ever heard, but I may have to change my mind. With all due respect, I disagree with your comment that you will never be as good as the great Jussi Bjorling. 😊
If you watch this and then also his performance (opposite Sonya Yoncheva) in the 2018 production at the Met... both times he gives a smile and slight nod of the head after the high C part. Same slightly cocky self assured (but mostly to himself) little look. I would never have even noticed but if you watch "The Audition" (documentary) on the Met's streaming site, he goes on a bizarre defensive rant about how/why he can't sing a high C... I feel like he does that little smile and nod every time now because he feels so good about it. :) I'm not trying to bash him here, I actually like it. Like he says in The Audition, different people have different fachs, and a high C isn't as easy for some to reach as others. He finally made it, he deserves to feel great! And he's obviously someone who has worked really hard to get where he's at. I always love his performances.
3:23 - "La speranza" -- "hope" -- This should be expressed with sheer joy and exultation with the High C being sustained and held for multiple seconds (sometimes upwards of 7 seconds by the legends of the past (Corelli, Kraus, Pavarotti, etc.) This lends an emotional intensity commensurate with the text that unfortunately is lacking here.

His voice didn't even reach the C. There are issues with his top. Taking the closed vowel in the portimento of the approach to the B flat ( which had its own problems ) also indicates this. Mr Fabiano is a real tenor and this was an admirable attempt at a difficult aria which to his credit he did not transpose. Lets leave it at that.
@@tenorcarloscol I've actually seen your video before and think you have a wonderful voice. I did not think that he executed the note correctly and that he should sing an aria that he cannot execute correctly without straining.
@@RL-ck8zk You are correct, the note was not executed correctly, it was a bit ''Stuck'' in the back of his throat, the trick to singing the high ''C'' is to do a ''Punto e Allarga'', the way I do it, is to focus on a singular point, give the High C a bit of direction and then expand on it gradually. If the singer can do this properly, the High C would not be a problem, I don't think the singer actually tried doing it this way. However, to be fair, I must also take into account the pressure the singer must be in when in front of an actual audience. It's a bit different when you're practicing, and when you're actually in front of an audience. The fact is, He reached the High C, now it's just a matter of not straining it, the way he did it, was on the verge of collapse.
Whoever edited this video should arrested. I can’t believe it cuts off right at the end when the cloud erupts, and Michael Fabiono’s face is a picture as he tries not to grin. 😢
Great voice....but they do a little bit of a "mic effect" there on the high C. No big deal, but I would rather they didn't do it so we could her it normal. Theaters often do it when making a recording of the show.
He has a decent middle register in line with many tenors. However, his high notes are what you would expect from a modern day tenor. I saw a video, on you tube, where he was a little disdainful of Bjorling. I suggest he listens to Bjorling singing this same aria where he will experience real greatness.
I like him. As for her... she projects absolutely no thoughts or emotions while he is singing. What the heck is she thinking about while he is pouring his heart out to her? Her next aria, perhaps? Not acceptable!
His intonation seems acceptable to me, well within tolerance. The high C is apparently a difficult note for him (as it is for many other excellent tenors), and I see this as a success. Is this entire performance totally ruined for you just because you would prefer one of the notes to be a couple cents sharper? How sad...
@@zerekdodson1095 Yes, the totally flat C ruined the entire performance. If you had eaten a piece of cake and the frosting was spoiled, would you say after having eaten it that it tasted good?

Gosh, you people are harsh. It is a beautiful high C, excellent if from a live performance. How can u not love this! If this does not make you cry you are already dead!

Puccini was also a marvellous orchestrator. The harp here is great. Two flutes and two muted violas which accompany the death of Mimi makes me cry.

Michael Fabiano is beautiful with a beautiful voice and Nicole Car and he perform the best Rodolfo and Mimi I have ever seen or heard.
