Spooky corner is a great idea. I've been making this year's Christmas ornament for family and friends. Decided to do Christmas Angels. Takes just over thirty minutes each and so far made 35. Not all at once. Making them in different sparkly acrylic yarns and some will go into a garland for Mums room. She's moved into an old folks home and complains everyone is really old. She's the oldest at 93, but doesn't act her age. Proud of that fact! Right better get on. Wicked is 17th December, very excited! xxJane 🐑🌼

I'm glad you are feeling better. You are right, sometimes you just need to rest and let your body heal. You are still ahead of me on the knit a long. I've not started the brioche yet. I've been looking at all the finished ones on Ravelry and there are some gorgeous ones. Your Gargoyle is adorable. The Christmas cake looks so yummy! 🤣🤣🤣 with regards to the Spooky candles. You are the second RUclipsr that tried it and the same thing happened. The water has to be as hot as possible out of the tap (not boiling). Also use a disposable tin pan to do it in so the wax doesn't get all over your good pots/pans. As for getting rid of the water, if it is full of wax I would flush it down the toilet while you flush it so it doesn't have time to stick to the bowl. Glad you are feeling better. Seeing John Lewis brought back many memories...I worked for JL in the Cheadle branch here in the north-west for many years until my retirement a couple of years ago. The opening of the Christmas shop was always an 'event' sometimes including ribbon cutting! I knitted the Hiberknit shawl last year, it's beautiful, I gave it to my friend as she admired it so much whilst I was knitting it.. I'm going to make another one at some point! Christmas cake baking for me next week! I always use Delia too! Take care and keep bringing us your videos, they always raise a smile! xx

I started Arne and Carlos Christmas Stocking KAL today-- that goes till the 25th of November. Then I’ll be starting my Sock Advent from Woolens and Nosh where I’ll be knitting a stripe a day on two socks creating a pair of socks before Christmas. This season just goes too fast, but so enjoyable.

I did last year's Hiberknitalong (and did not do the MKAL). There's much more time to finish it, you know what it's going to look like and if it'll be something you would enjoy knitting and wearing. I think cast on is 26 Dec, but I don't remember for sure.This year's looks pretty, but it has bobbles and we hates them, precious, so I haven't decided if I'm going to knit it. My next "MKAL" is going to be Slipstravaganza - which I have yarn for - someday. I've got four full Advents and a sock Advent this year. Which is better than last year when I had eight Advents, plus sock. I would like twice a week. And I'm glad you're feeling better.
Today or tomorrow (more likely), I will be first feeding my Christmas cake and next weekend the Christmas tree goes up and the Christmas deer on the front lawn. 😱 Got the winter tires on the car early this morning (had to be there by 8 am and the sun did not rise until 8:40 am) and it was snowing as the sun came up. 🌨️
I believe this year is the 5th Hiberknitalong. For me, there's always a let down after the MKAL, so I like having the HKAL to look forward to. We're supposed to cast on December 26th, but the pattern is available before that, so some people cast on right away and don't do it as a kal. I've already knit it though, 😉

Bought my HKAL kit this morning. This will be my third HKAL. Of 5 as the pattern is in the HKAL 5 e-book. I’m still working on my wavy border. But I hope to have mine done before my conference on November 22 & 23. So I will have some time for other WIPs before the HKAL cast on.
i did the hiberinitalong last year ordered the kit( while at work, if you don't order as soon as they come out you wont' get one lol), Now i enjoyed the knitting, started it christmas night and even working on several nights a week took me until march or april but thats me, i was glad to get it done by spring. Its not the same as the mkal, theres no big official caston or any vlog from steve,but there is a fb group. It doesn't have the same hype as the mystery shawls i guess its suppposed to be quiet knitting and a break for Steve. I like the shawl enough i may just repeat it if i don't like this years.

Hiberknitalong....funnily enough an email has just been sent on it by Westknits/Stephen & Penelope apparently been going since 2020. I've done two: Aurora Cabin Shawl and Glittering Snowscape both big! I've never cast on just after Christmas but have done so in January. I've also never bought kits from S&P as I think they're a tad expensive and I have a big stash which I'll supplement it a colour is needed. However for Glittering Snowscape I used Drops Flora -I cast on 30 Dec 23, cast off 7 March 2024 - I think at one point I had over a 1000 stitches on the needle (Sunfisherstar on ravelry). My Aurora Cabin shawl was a flight of fancy to soothe an itch for a shawl cast on in March 23 and off the needles in Sept 23. I never by the complete (e)book of patterns but just get the individual patterns. I'm not sure this year as I plan to do the Shift Cowl (Andrea Mowry) or Mossblossom (Wool & Pine) both of which I already have the yarn for. MKAL isn't complete yet for me, I'm just past the small bobbles ready to start the pattern - its going faster than those dreaded triangles of clue 3. Your Hallowe'en candle escapade made me laugh - especially your comment about Mark. Love to you both Camilla x

When talking about your Christmas cake, you referred to your grandfather as Grampie. Outside of my own family - my grandfather's ancestors were from Wales and settled in Maine, I've never heard that term anywhere else. I looked on Google Maps and noted that Llanhennock, where my ancestors are from, is not that far from Cardiff. Now I'm curious if that is a regional endearment! Thoughts?
