Hi I am looking at getting a handheld vhf for my small boat. I will take the vhf course soon . How do you get mmsi number and call sign ? Is this issued on completion of the exam ? Thanks for sharing vid .
Hi enjoying all your videos. I am doing my rya vhf course and exam in a couple of days time. I've read up a fair bit of the book that accompanies the course. Im quite nervous about the exam . Is it fairly straightforward any tips on particular areas I should bone up on ? Many thanks. Looking forward to more vids from you.
You'll be fine. Your instructor will go through all the basics with you over the duration of the course, and you will get to loads of practice, and when it comes to the exam piece they fully appreciate that folk are nervous. Your instructor will also highlight things that usually come out in the multiple choice exam, and will give you lots of tips. So don't lose sleep over it, honestly. The fact that you are doing the course is what they want you to do, and if you do get something wrong during the assessment they will give you feedback. You'll nail it.
@@TheBoatVirgin many thanks for your reply. All done and dusted and passed. Looking to do power boat level 2 next. Keep up the good work with the videos.
Just done my VHF course. Found it very useful. Didn’t get to do it on a boat though lol
It was a great to be onboard doing my course. Made it sink in a lot more - pardon the punk!

The MMSI is not related to the qualification, it is a value generated by the radio, and that is what you register with the local radio authority.
@@TheBoatVirgin thank you kindly.

4 minutes of dross before we finally launch into some gibberish about VHF which, considering the course has just been attended, is quite astounding.
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
