Hector Celaya The Maico 700 has a power valve whereas the CR500 doesn’t. This means that it actually has smoother power delivery and is easier to ride than a CR500. The Maico 700 really would be a great woods bike given it’s relatively tractable power and massive torque.

Other than changing the oil and spark plugs, and some rattled out bolts, ive never had to do anything to it at all. Has been insanely reliable. Bikes like this are sooo freakin awsome and it sucks because you wantcto preserve it and its history on display but you also want to ride it and enjoy it ! This is one of the cooleset older ktm bikes , and they are hard to find

That is gorgeous. If only KTM made them today. They'd give the 450s a run for their money!

That rear tire looks big with those black rims. The bigger tires if so slow them down like a flywheel. We have a 98 380 and it wheelies like that also, they are fast

Not positive about the '97s, but I know in '98 they found that running 50mm White Power Extreme conventional style forks absolutely smoked the upside down forks of that period. The WP's are even adapted to other bikes as they are known for being ultra plush. I have atleast one pair on hand with aftermarket Triples to possibly adapt to one of my mid 80's Husqvarna's. Suzuki perhaps a year prior or so, also found going back to conventional type forks was superior to the upside down's. They ran .......oh I think they are 49mm Showa Twin Chamber conventionals in like '96-'98. I've also got a set of those with aftermarket triples to again possibly adapt to one of my Husky's. The ones I scored were setup by Pro Action, and are the most plush forks I've ever put my bodyweight on. Can't wait to see this KTM in action.

How about the KTM550 2 stroke left kick ? I've ridden one of those and that bike is insane! Do you guys have one of those or have you ridden one ? The guy who owned it put a pipe in silencer on it and tuned it and it was so powerful he took it back off. Those big bore bikes are great for the dunes!
